1.Two-day meeting of the National Executive of Bharatiya Janata Party :-

A two-day meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s national executive and party office bearers is starting in New Delhi today. On the first day, the party’s national office bearer and other important leaders of the organization will discuss various issues including the proposals for consideration in the National Executive meeting.

All 337 members of the party, more than four hundred members, the Legislative Council will be attended by members and senior leadership at the national executive meeting.

 

2.US defense minister will strengthen bilateral relations with India :-

To further strengthen bilateral relations, US Defense Minister Jim Matisse will be on a two-day visit to India on Tuesday. He will talk to Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on issues related to regional situation and defense.

The Pentagon issued a statement on Friday and informed about Matisse’s visit to India beginning on September 26. It will be the first visit of a Minister of Cabinet rank to the Trump Government.

 

3.Bangladesh will send 700 tonnes of relief material to Rohingya Muslims :-

India is sending a new consignment of 700 tonnes of relief material to Bangladesh for Rohingya Muslims taking shelter in Bangladesh. Giving information, an Indian Navy official said that this relief material will be brought to Chittagong, Bangladesh, on the Indian Navy vessel INS Ghadiyal.

This relief material includes many other essential items including food, clothes and mosquito nets.

 

4.Bhutan supports India’s permanent membership in the Security Council :-

Bhutan has said that countries like India, Japan, Brazil and Germany should be made permanent members of the United Nations Security Council. Bhutan Prime Minister Sherring Tobage stressed the need for UN reforms while addressing the United Nations General Assembly.

He said that the reforms in the UN will be incomplete without the reform of the Security Council to show the world’s changing realities. The Prime Minister of Bhutan said that Africa must also get proper representation in the Security Council.

6.China stops supply of gas to North Korea :-

China has stopped supply of all natural gas, which is used as fuel for North Korea. It has also said that it will also stop supplying some petroleum products to North Korea as per the UN Security Council directive.

After the test of hydrogen bomb on September 3, the Security Council had imposed new restrictions on North Korea. Meanwhile, China has asked Japan to talk with North Korea and try to resolve the deadlock in relations.

 

7.Another successful trial of Iran :-

Iran has test-fired new missile carrying a range of weapons and several types of weapons from the distance of two thousand kilometers. Iran has tested this missile named Khurram Shahar a few hours after its demonstration during a military parade in the capital Tehran.

Iran’s public broadcaster Press TV announced this test and said that Khurram Shahhar has been made smaller but more capable in size and it will be usable soon.

 

8.Pakistan tests anti-ship missile with helicopter :-

The Pakistani Navy has tested the anti-ship missile. He has done this test through the Sea King helicopter in the North Arabian Sea. According to the Pakistani Navy, Navy Chief Admiral Muhammad Zakauullah was also present on this occasion.

The test of this missile has increased the ability of the neighboring country to burn a long-range anti-ship missile firing from the ground.

The navy said that the missile was tested from the coastal region and the missile successfully severed its target in the sea. This missile is equipped with modern technology and aeronautics, which can make accurate targets in the sea at long distances.

 

9.Government will provide subsidy on housing made by private builders – Hardeep Singh Puri :-

In order to promote private investment in the affordable housing scheme, the Central Government announced a new Private-Public Partnership (PPP) policy. Under this, central subsidy will be given up to 2.50 lakh rupees for every house built by private builder on private land.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that the goal of this policy is to open in the urban areas to make affordable housing projects on government land to tap the potential of private investors.

 

10.India beat Australia in third match, win one-day series :-

In the third ODI played between India and Australia in Indore, the hosts team defeated the visiting team by 5 wickets.

With this win, India took an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match series and also captained the ODI series. In this match, Australian captain Steve Smith decided to bat first before winning the toss.

Australia scored 293 runs for 6 wickets in 50 overs. India got the target of 294 runs to win This goal was achieved by India only after remaining 5 wickets in 47.5 overs.

In this match, Hardik Pandya was chosen as the ‘Man of the Match’ for his all-round performance. With this victory, India also came to number one in the ODI rankings.

 

11.Keduo Wili Zumu of Nagaland won a bronze medal in the 90 kg category :-

Keduo Wily Zumu of Nagaland won a bronze medal in the 90 kg category. In the medal tally, India is ranked eleventh with a total of 19 medals, including five gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals.

Meanwhile, five times world champion and Olympic bronze medalist MC Marcom has become the first Indian to be elected a representative of the International Boxing Association for the IOC Athletes Forum, set in November.

 

12.’GSTN Factors Corrected, Strong’ for Return Filing in August ‘ :-

Last month, GST Network (GSTN) has improved some facilities on its portal so that the system can be further strengthened and around 35 lakh taxpayers have been provided with error-free payment facility. This is said by GSTN CEO Prakash Kumar.

GSTN, which manages IT Infrastructures under the new tax system, but in total 87.33 lakh registered businesses were eligible to pay taxes in 68 lakhs August. Of the total registered taxpayers, there are 24.56 lakh new registrations, while about 62.77 lakhs have been migrated from ex-excise, service tax and VAT.

 

13.Arvind Subramaniam’s tenure will grow for one year :-

Central Government will extend the tenure of Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) Arvind Subramanyam for one year. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley gave this information on Saturday. Arvind will now be in office till October 2018. Subramanyam has joined those selected people who have got service extension in the Modi government.

The CEA is currently expiring on 16th of the following month. The CEA gives advice to the finance minister on economic matters.

Apart from this, it is also responsible for preparing economic review and mid-term review.

Subramaniam, senior fellow of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, was appointed Chief Economic Advisor in October 2014. His tenure was for three years. The five year term of the NDA government will be completed in May, 2019.

Sources say that after completion of all the necessary procedures, the formalities will be announced to increase the tenure of Arvind.
