1 Bhagavad Gita will be taught in IGNOU, new degree course started

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)  has  announced the launch of  a new  MA course in Bhagavad Gita Studies  for  the academic session 2024-2025  . The course will start in July 2024 and will be offered through Open and Distance Learning (ODL). Earlier, there was no degree in any university regarding Shrimad Bhagavad Gita degree course. However, it was being taught as an optional subject in many universities including DU, JNU, BHU. The full name of this program is MA Bhagavadgita Studies or MABGS.

2 Ministry of Culture launches Project PARI for the 46th World Heritage Committee meeting

Project PARI  (Public Art of India),   an initiative of  the Ministry of Culture, Government of India,  implemented by  the Lalit Kala Akademi  and  the National Museum of Modern Art , aims to bring to the fore folk art that draws inspiration from thousands of years of artistic heritage (folk art/folk culture)  while incorporating  modern themes and techniques  . These expressions underscore the inherent value of art in Indian society, a testimony to the nation’s enduring commitment to creativity and artistic expression. The first event under Project PARI is taking place in Delhi. The event coincides with the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee, scheduled to be held in New Delhi, India between 21-31 July 2024. Over 150 visual artists from across the country have come together to create various wall paintings, murals, sculptures and landmark works being created under the project. The creative canvas includes, but is not limited to, artworks inspired and/or painted in styles such as Phad Painting (Rajasthan), Thangka Painting (Sikkim/Ladakh), Miniature Painting (Himachal Pradesh), Gond Art (Madhya Pradesh), Tanjore Painting (Tamil Nadu), Kalamkari (Andhra Pradesh), Alpana Art (West Bengal), Cheriyal Painting (Telangana), Pichwai Painting (Rajasthan), Lanjia Saura (Odisha), Pattachitra (West Bengal), Bani Thani Painting (Rajasthan), Warli (Maharashtra), Pithora Art (Gujarat), Aipan (Uttarakhand), Kerala Mural Painting (Kerala), Alpana Art (Tripura) etc. The proposed sculptures being made for Project PARI encompass a wide range of ideas, including respect for nature, ideas inspired by Natyashastra, Gandhiji, toys of India, hospitality, ancient wisdom, Naad or primal sound, harmony of life, Kalpataru – the divine tree etc.

3 Agri-entrepreneur Sopana Kallingal receives Spice Award

Sopana Kallingal  of   Kallingal  Plantation, Thrissur received the Spice Award 2024  instituted by  ICAR-Indian Institute of Spices Research  for her initiatives in enterprise diversification and integrated crop management strategies that promote a sustainable spice-based cropping system. The Spice Awards is an annual event that aims to honour Asian and Indian food in Scotland.

4 First indigenous chip-based 4G mobile base station inducted into the Army

The Indian Army  has inducted the  first  indigenous chip-based 4G mobile base station , which it procured from Bengaluru  -based company  Signaltron  through a government e-marketplace portal. Signaltron founder  Himanshu Khasnis  said  the chip used in the Sahyadri LTE base stations  has been developed by Signalchip. Earlier in 2010, Khasnis and his team founded Signalchip, a fabless semiconductor company, to make chips for 4G and 5G networks.

5 P. Geetha receives K. Saraswati Amma Award

 In a significant recognition of  feminist literature and studies , writer, critic and feminist activist P. Geetha  has been awarded   the first  K. Saraswathi Amma Award . Instituted by WINGS (Women’s Integration and Growth Through Sports) Kerala,  the prestigious award marks a significant moment in the acknowledgement of feminist contributions to literature and social discourse. P. Geetha’s groundbreaking work ” Aan Thachukal ” (Male Writings),  an analysis of M.T. Vasudevan Nair  ‘s screenplays, won her the prestigious award.

7 Amit Shah launched Nano-fertilizer subsidy scheme

The event was held  on  6 July   in  Gandhinagar  ,  Gujarat on the occasion of the 102nd International Cooperative Day  . Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah  launched  Agriculture 2 (AGR- 2),  a central scheme with  50% subsidy  to farmers for the purchase of  nano-fertilizers  . Amit Shah gave subsidy to three farmers under the scheme. The government has launched a 100-day action plan to promote nano-fertilizers. The government aims to conduct 1270 demonstrations of Nano DAP in 413 districts and 200 trials of Nano Urea Plus in 100 districts. This will promote eco-friendly farming and reduce the use of chemical fertilizers in the agricultural sector. Amit Shah launched ‘Bharat Organic Wheat Atta’ of National Co-operative Organics Limited.

8 CM Mohan Yadav launched ‘Lokpath Mobile App’ for the public

Chief Minister  Dr. Mohan Yadav  has said that our aim is to make all departments more and more accountable to the public.  Lokpath Mobile App , which  has been prepared by the Public Works Department  , is being launched with the aim of moving forward on the path of public welfare. Its aim is to make sustainable progress by adopting a more transparent and accountable work system towards the public. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the app will make quick improvements possible as per the need in the 40 thousand kilometer long roads of the state.

10 Paytm launched ‘Health Saathi’ scheme

Paytm  ‘s parent company  One 97 Communications has launched a new health and income protection plan called  ‘ Paytm Health Saathi ‘  for its merchant partners. Starting at Rs 35 per month  subscription, Paytm Health Saathi offers a variety of services including unlimited doctor teleconsultation, in-person doctor visits (OPD) within its partner network. The company offers a variety of security covers in this plan.

13 LIC Chairman Siddhartha Mohanty re-designated as Managing Director and CEO

Public sector life insurance company  Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has reappointed  its Chairman  Siddhartha Mohanty  as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director from June 30, 2024. It is not yet known whether the life insurance company will appoint a new chairman.

14 World Zoonosis Day 2024

World Zoonosis Day is celebrated every year on  6 July  across the world   . This day is celebrated with the aim of spreading awareness about zoonotic diseases. International cooperation is considered to prevent such diseases by spreading awareness about the dangers posed by zoonotic diseases to animal and human health. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), diseases that usually spread from animals to humans are called zoonotic diseases. Zoonotic diseases are contagious which spread to humans through direct contact with infected animals or through infected food and water.
