President Ram Nath Kovind has promulgated two ordinances to extend the tenure of directors of Central Bureau of Investigation-CBI and Enforcement-Directorate-ED by five years . These ordinances are- Central Vigilance Commission Amendment Ordinance 2021 and Delhi Special Police Establishment Amendment Ordinance 2021. According to these ordinances, heads of top agencies can be given an extension of up to three years every year after completing the two-year term. The ordinances said, no further extension shall be granted after the completion of a total period of five years including the period mentioned in the initial appointment. The current tenure of the heads of central agencies is two years .

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is launching a week long awareness campaign on Safai Mitra Suraksha Chahal (SSC) , as part of the ‘ World Toilet Day ‘ celebrations from 14 November to 20 November 2021 . In recognition of the role and efforts of States, Cities, ULBs and Cantonment Boards in Swachh Survekshan 2021 and for garbage free star rating certification, a ‘Swachh Amrit Divas’ award ceremony will be organized on November 20, 2021. A total of 246 cities are participating in the Safai Mitra Suraksha Challenge (SSC) being organized across the country. Through this challenge, it aims to encourage cities to mechanize their sewer and septic tank cleaning tasks, to avoid ‘hazardous entry’.

Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020 : This Act was introduced with the objective of opening agricultural sales and marketing outside the notified Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) mandis for farmers. The Act removes barriers to inter-state trade and also provides a framework for electronic trading of agricultural produce. It seeks to break the monopoly of government-controlled mandis and allows farmers to sell directly to private buyers.
2. Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Act, 2020: This Act creates a national framework for contract farming. It provides a legal framework for farmers to enter into written contracts with companies and produce for them.
3. The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020: This Act removes pulses, cereals, edible oils, oilseeds, onions and potatoes from the list of essential commodities. It seeks to deregulate the production, movement, storage and distribution of these food items.
