Kaziranga National Park is a Tiger Reserve and a World Heritage Site. This park has recently introduced water fowl.calculated. In 2021, the number of birds increased to 93,491. In 2020 it was 34,284. The number of birds has increased by 175% in one year. About 126 species were observed during the census. Point count method was used in the census. The census has reported 868 deer. This includes 173 males, 557 females and 138 year olds. Unfortunately, the deer population has decreased. Earlier this number was 907. The deer population in the park has declined mainly due to floods. 66,776 wetland birds have been reported in this count. Of this, 42,205 were counted in the national park area. 24,571 were counted in Burhachapori Wildlife Sanctuary and Laokhowa. Of all the animals, bar-headed geese were in greatest numbers. Headed geese were counted 16,552 times in this count. In addition, 5,631 Teal, 9,493 Northern Pintail and 2, 236 ferruginous ducks were reported. 40,000 hog deer were reported. They are the staple food for the tigers in the park. Apart from this 35 elephants were also seen. The first Kaziranga National Park census was conducted in 2019. About 11,500 aquatic birds were counted in this census.
