4.Ministry of Agriculture and UNDP signed an MoU
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and United Nations Development Program – UNDP have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Under this, UNDP will provide technical support for the Centre’s ambitious Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and Kisan Credit Card – Revised Interest Subvention Scheme. Under the agreement, UNDP will leverage its expertise in various systems and technical know-how to support the Ministry of Agriculture for the implementation of joint agricultural credit and crop insurance.

Shri Sandeep Pondrick (IAS), Principal Secretary, Industries Department, Government of Bihar, Shri Ashwini Bhatia, MD, State Bank of India and Shri Sukhmal, Executive Director I/C, Marketing Corporate, BPCL, on the first set of Tripartite-cum-Escrow Agreement (TPA) The signing was done between OMCs (Oil Marketing Companies), project proponents and banks associated with ethanol plant projects in the presence of Jain. State Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank and Indian Bank are the three banks involved in this tripartite agreement with OMCs and project proponents. This agreement has been done to ensure that the payments received by the ethanol plants will be used to repay the finances given by these banks. According to the agreement, The ethanol produced by these plants dedicated to ethanol production will be sold to OMCs for blending with petrol as per the Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) program of the Government of India. The payment to be made for supply of ethanol to OMCs will be credited to an escrow account opened with the financing bank to ensure repayment of the loan to the banks as per the stipulated time. TPA was signed with Micromax Biofuels Pvt Ltd, Bihar, Eastern India Biofuels Pvt Ltd, Bihar, Muzaffarpur Biofuels Pvt Ltd, Bihar, KP Biofuels Pvt Ltd, Madhya Pradesh and Visag Biofuels Pvt Ltd, Madhya Pradesh. The depreciation of the Indian rupee will boost exports as exporters will get a better price for their overseas shipments against the US dollar. Imports will be expensive. Since India is a net importer, a fall in the rupee will worsen inflation. For example, India is dependent on imports to meet about 85% of its oil requirements. If the rupee weakens, fuel will become costlier.

He was the Union Minister of State, Communications (Independent Charge) from 1993 to 1996 and a Lok Sabha member from Mandi constituency (Himachal Pradesh). He won the Lok Sabha elections thrice and the Assembly elections five times. In 2011, he was sentenced to five years in prison for corruption, when he was the Minister of Communications in 1996.
