1.Scientists Places World’s Highest Weather Stations Atop Mount Everest:-

Scientists from National Geographic Society and Tribhuvan University installed have installed two highest weather stations in the world in an expedition to Mount Everest that wrapped up in June 2019.The two weather monitoring stations are located at an altitude of 8,430 meters (27,657 feet) and 7,945 meters (26,066 feet). Also, three other stations have been set up across the Mount Everest. The setting up of the weather station aim to collect weather data. The data gathered from the stations will help scientists to understand how rising global temperatures impacts the rapidly melting glaciers.The nearly two month expedition involved a team of more than 30 scientists from all over the world, including 17 Nepali researchers. The team also collected the world highest ice core sample at 8,020 meters , which will help the scientists study the deep record of precipitation on the mountain and composition of the atmosphere during pre-industrial times.

2.Two Female Scientists Ritu Kridhal And Vanitha To Head Indias 2nd Moon Mission Chandrayaan-2:-

For the first time, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has appointed two women scientists – Ritu Karidhal (as mission director) and Muthayya Vanitha (as project director) – to head the India’s second Moon mission Chandrayaan-2.ISRO Chairman K Sivan announced that close to 30 percent of the ISRO team working on Chandrayaan 2 are women.Ritu Karidhal was referred as the ‘Rocket Woman of India‘. She became famous with the launch of the Mars Orbiter Mission where she was the deputy operations director.Muthayya Vanitha received the Best Woman Scientist award in 2006 by the Astronomical Society of India.

 

3.Great benefits to Indian Navy’s campaigns from agreements with US and France:-

The Indian Navy has made significant profits in recent years with the agreements with America and France. From these agreements, the Indian Navy is getting fuel, information and other types of cooperation in the remote areas of the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden.

According to the senior naval official, the Indian battleships are successfully completing their missions in the Gulf of Aden and the Persian Gulf, with the agreements with the two countries. The latest example in this regard is the cooperation found in the ocean on the Indian battleships posted for action against the pirates.With the help of naval bases from fellow countries in the Gulf of Aden, the action of the Indian Navy became much easier. Earlier, Indian warships had to go to the nearby harbor for necessary items during patrol in the Gulf of Aden. But after the deal with the United States, American oil tankers stationed in Indian battleship areas take fuel according to the requirement as needed. They do not even have to pay an immediate payment.

Not only this, naval bases of France located in Djibouti and Reunion have helped many Indian battleships many times. According to the Navy official, the benefits of these agreements made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative are being met by the Navy on a wider scale.

Indian naval ships are operating under safe navigability against pirates, passing through Gulf of Oman, Persian Gulf, Andaman Sea and Malacca Strait. Earlier, these water areas had always been threatened by pirates. But in recent years, the Navy has freed the maritime areas from robbers largely by operating Operation GulfDP and Maldep.

4.PM announces high-level task force on structural reforms in agriculture:-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the creation of a high-level task force on structural reforms in agriculture. Briefing media after the Fifth Meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog chaired by the Prime Minister, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar said the Committee will be formed in near future and report will be submitted in next 2 to 3 months.Mr Kumar said rainwater harvesting, drought situation and relief measures, aspirational districts, and security-related items were among the items of the agenda of the meeting. He said the Prime Minister stressed on the need to promote export and every state should focus on export to enhance the economy.He said discussion also took place on agro-processing, value addition and supply chain and investment in the agriculture sector. Dr Kumar sais the states have appreciated the initiatives on Aspirational Districts and the Prime Minister suggested to choose backward blocks for the development.Dr Kumar said extensive deliberations were held on Left Wing Extremism and Jammu and Kashmir issue. He said development works have picked up in the LWE areas and LWE infested areas have shrunk and Centre is standing with States to tackle the menace. He said the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved and Centre will focus on the development of the State.NITI Aayog Chief Executive Officer Amitabh Kant said that NITI Aayog will look into the suggestions to review National Disaster Response Fund and State Disaster Response Fund and subsidy on drip irrigation. He said many states stressed the need to make amendment to the Agricultural Produce Market Committee Act and Essential Commodities Act.

5.High Commissioner Riva Ganguli Das inspects construction of Feni Bridge:-

High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Riva Ganguli Das  inspected the construction of the ongoing Feni Bridge known as Maitree Setu in Chattogram yesterday. Being developed as a corridor for trade and commerce between India’s North-East and Bangladesh, the bridge will connect Tripura with Chittagong port of Bangladesh. It will provide direct road connectivity between South Tripura and Chittagong allowing India to use Chittagong as a “port of call” and promoting trade, tourism and people-to-people ties. The bridge will facilitate carrying of heavy machines and goods to and from the northeastern states and the rest of India via Bangladesh through Chattogram. The foundation of the bridge was laid in 2015 jointly by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.The bridge is being constructed by the National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd of Ministry of Road and Transport highways, govt. of India at a cost of over 82 crores rupees. The project is scheduled to be completed by April next year.The High Commissioner was welcomed in Feni by the Upzila Chairman Bishwa Tripura.

6.Nepal: Indian Embassy organised yoga event at Syangboche:-

The Yoga has reached the base of Mount Everest, the highest peak on the earth. To celebrate 5th International Day of Yoga, the Embassy of India in Nepal organised a special event at Syangboche situated around 13,000 feet in the lap of Mt Everest. Members from various NGOs, women and youth groups of Solukhumbu district, officials of Sagarmatha National Park and a large number of local people enthusiastically  participated in the programme. Besides Indian Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri and officials of the embassy many foreign tourists, mountaineers and researchers also joined Yoga Day celebrations. Yoga teacher from Embassy of India performed different asanas from common yoga protocol. The main objective of the programme was to highlight the importance of Yoga in daily life and to bring peace and harmony across the continents, nations and people. First time, the International Day of Yoga celebrations were also held at the base camp of Mount Everest. India’s Mount Everest climber Bharat Sharma and other mountaineers from various countries created history by performing Yoga at 17600 feet in the backdrop of mighty Mount Everest.

7.ICC World Cup: India beat Pakistan by 89 runs:-

In the ICC Cricket World Cup, brilliant knocks from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli before the magnificent spells by the bowling unit guided India to beat Pakistan by 89 runs by Duckworth-Lewis-stern method at the Old Trafford in Manchester last night. Chasing a stiff target of 337 runs, Pakistan faced an early hiccup. The rain interrupted the match after 35 overs. However, after almost 50 minutes, the match was curtailed to 40 overs and the run-chase was adjusted to 302 runs based on the Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method.Earlier, put into bat first, India made 336 for five in 50 overs riding on Rohit Sharma’s 140 run off 113 balls and skipper Virat Kohli’s 77 off 65 balls. Rohit Sharma has been adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant knock.For India, Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets each.The Indian captain became the fastest player to make 11,000 ODI runs in his 222nd innings. Kohli’s milestone smashed master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s record which he had completed in his 276th innings.With this win, India’s head-to-head record against Pakistan in World Cup matches now sits at 7-0.Today, Bangladesh will take on West Indies at Taunton at 3 PM Indian Time.

8.Archery World Championships: Indian men’s recurve team bags Silver Medal:-

The Indian men’s recurve team today bagged a silver medal in the Archery World Championships at Den Bosch in The Netherlands. Indian trio of Tarundeep Rai, Atanu Das and Pravin lost to Chinese team of Ding Yiliang, Wei Shaoxuan and Feng Hao 6-2 in the summit clash.  India thus ended their campaign with one silver and two bronze medals won in the women’s compound team and individual events.
The men’s recurve team was playing in the final of World Championships after a gap of 14 years. This was India’s sixth silver at the World Championships where the country is yet to win a gold medal.The men’s recurve team, which had slumped to number 17 in rankings from being number one in May 2011, had also surprised everyone by sealing the Olympic quota place ahead of the fancied women’s team. This was also for the first time since 2014 that the Indian men’s team made the final of a world event. The silver and two bronze at the 2019 World Championships took India’s overall count to eight medals in the premier biennial competition.

9.Peter Gilchrist Won The 2019 Pacific International Billiards Championship:-

Peter Gilchrist won the 2019 Pacific International Billiards Championship at the Yarraville Club in Melbourne, Australia.

Peter Gilchrist defeated Kolkata cueist Kothari who had been on a roll winning the International Reventon Classic Snooker championship, a triple crown event of Australia and thereafter went on to display some outstanding billiards en-route the final.

10.Virat Kohli Is The Only Indian In The List Of Top Paid Athletes:-

Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is the only Indian in the Forbes list of world’s highest-paid athletes.He has been estimated with an annual earnings of $25 million. According to the report, his earnings are $21 million from endorsements and USD 4 million from salary and winnings for the last 12 months.Kholi, the Indian captain, has dropped 17 spots to be 100th in the rankings  despite an increase of $1 million in endorsements. He was ranked 83rd in 2018.The list is topped by Barcelona and Argentina football superstar Lionel Messi. Retired boxer Floyd Mayweather has been dethroned by Messi as the sports world’s highest earner, raking in $127 million via salary and endorsement deals.Messi’s long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo, the Juventus and Portugal star is second with earnings of $109 million.

11.Govt. Plans To Raise USD 84 Billion From Airwaves Auction In 2019:-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government hopes to increase around $83.8 billion (Rs 5.83 trillion rupees) from its latest round of airwaves auction in 2019.The Central government is planning to sell 8,600 megahertz of telecom airwaves across multiple frequency bands. Rs 65,789 crore was raised in the airwaves auction held by the government in 2016-17.Recently, Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced the debut auction of fifth-generation (5G) spectrum this year along with trials within 100 days.
