The Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the year 2023   has been awarded  to  three scientists for the discovery and synthesis of quantum dots . These scientists are  French-American chemist Mongi G. BawendiAmerican Lewis E. Bruce  and  Russian-born Alexey Ekimov . Quantum dots are tiny nanoparticles whose properties are determined by their size. Their discovery has made significant contributions to the technology of QLED televisions and LED lamps, where these nanoparticles help in creating vibrant colors. These smallest components of nanotechnology now emit their light from televisions and LED lamps, and can guide surgeons when removing tumor tissue, among many others, the Nobel Prize’s official website states.

2 Defense Minister Rajnath Singh launches the second phase of the Navy’s updated indigenous program – Swavalamban

Defense Minister  Rajnath Singh  launched  the second phase of  the Navy  ‘s updated indigenous program –  Swavalamban . Speaking at the seminar ‘Swavalamban’ of the Naval Innovation and Indigenization Organization of the Indian Navy in New Delhi,   he said that self-reliance has become the top priority after the Modi government came to power. During the programme, the fifth indigenization list of 98 items was also released. The first seminar of Swavalamban was held on 18-19 July 2022 in New Delhi.

3 Government approved the formation of National Turmeric Board to promote turmeric and its products.

The Government   has approved the formation of National Turmeric Board  to promote  turmeric and its products . This board will establish better coordination with the Spices Board and other government agencies on turmeric related issues.  India is the largest producer, consumer and exporter of turmeric in the world. More than 30 varieties of turmeric are grown in 20 states of the country. Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are the largest producers of turmeric in the country. India has 62 percent share in the global turmeric trade. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the establishment of the board at a function in Telangana.

4 National Investment and Infrastructure Fund and Japan Bank for International Cooperation sign agreement to launch $600 million India-Japan Fund

National Investment and Infrastructure Fund  and  Japan Bank for International Cooperation – JBIC have  signed   an agreement to launch a  $  600 million India-Japan Fund . This  joint initiative  will promote cooperation and investment between India and Japan in the field of climate and environment. According to the Finance Ministry,  the Government of India will contribute 49 percent to this fund . The remaining  51 percent contribution  will be made by JBIC . The fund will encourage Japanese investment in India with a focus on environmental sustainability and carbon reduction strategies. The Finance Ministry has described this cooperation as important for the strategic and economic partnership between India and Japan.

5 Center declares National Liberation Front of Tripura, All Tripura Tiger Force and related groups as illegal organizations under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act

The central government   has declared the National Liberation Front of TripuraAll Tripura Tiger Force  and related groups as  illegal organizations under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act . The Home Ministry has banned these organizations for five years. The ministry said that the government believes that their activities are a threat to the sovereignty and unity of the country. These groups have been involved in destructive and violent activities and have been spreading terror among the people to achieve their goals. The Home Ministry said that if these organizations are not curbed immediately, they will expand and continue anti-national activities.

State Bank of India  launches   mobile handheld device . With this, bank customers will get better banking facilities. 7 Minister of State for Defense Shri Ajay Bhatt handed over Twin Seater LCA Tejas to the Indian Air Force

The Air Force  received the LCA Tejas twin-seater trainer aircraft  on   4 October  . Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)  CMD  CB Ananthakrishnan handed over the trainer aircraft  to   Indian Air Force Chief  Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary  at an event in Bengaluru . The first series production twin seater LCA Tejas of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is equipped with multi-role, agility and state-of-the-art technology and will provide suitable training to the Indian Air Force pilots. The Air Force has already placed an order for 83 LCA to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

8 Indian Army concludes a hybrid-panel discussion under Project Udavvaan in collaboration with USI

Recently  the Indian Army  in   partnership with  the United Service Institution of India (USI)  launched a hybrid-panel discussion as part of Project Udbhav . The discussion focused on Evolution of Indian Military Systems, Warfare and Strategic Thinking: Current Research and Future Directions ”. Project originated from ancient Indian texts  of  statecraft, warfare, diplomacy and grand strategy by the Indian Army  It is an initiative to rediscover India’s deep heritage of statecraft and strategic thought. It focuses on a broad spectrum including indigenous military systems, historical texts, regional texts and states, thematic studies and complex Kautilya studies. At its core the project Emergence attempts to bridge the historical and the contemporary. This project goes beyond the rediscovery of historical narratives; It aims to develop an indigenous strategic vocabulary deeply rooted in India’s multifaceted philosophical and cultural heritage. It ultimately aims to integrate ancient knowledge into modern military pedagogy, allowing the Indian Army to draw lessons from age-old principles in today’s complex strategic scenario. In connection with Project Emergence, USI will organize a Military Heritage Festival on October 21 and 22, 2023.

9 Toto Shabda Anthology to be released on 7 October 2023 in Kolkata

The Toto language, spoken by only 1,600 individuals  in  West Bengal,  is on the verge of extinction. However, to help preserve the Toto language, a trilingual dictionary ( Toto-Bengali-English ) named ” Toto Glossary ” will be released in Kolkata on 7 October 2023. Toto language is a  Sino-Tibetan language It is spoken by individuals of the Toto tribe in parts of West Bengal bordering Bhutan. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) lists it as a critically endangered language. The Toto language is primarily spoken orally, although Padmashree awardee Dhaniram Toto, a prominent member of the community, developed a script in 2015, but most individuals either write it in the Bengali script or in Bengali. .

10 Due to sudden flood in Teesta river in Sikkim, connectivity with many areas of the state was lost, relief and rescue operations underway.

In Mangan district  ,  Chungthang Toong bridge  is cut off due to collapse. The Chungthang Sikkim Energy Dam  has been washed away, while 80 per cent of Chungthang town has been severely affected, including disruption of drinking water supply. Several bridges also collapsed in Mangan district, while several houses were washed away in Fidang and Dicchu. Four people have lost their lives in Mangan district while 14 people are reported missing. Connectivity to Zongu area of ​​the district is badly affected. The Teesta River is a tributary of  the Brahmaputra  (known as the Jamuna in Bangladesh), which   flows through India and Bangladesh . This is  Chunthang of Sikkim. It originates in the Himalayas near Andhra Pradesh and flows south through West Bengal before entering Bangladesh. Originally, the river flowed southwards directly  into the Padma River  (the main channel of the Ganges in Bangladesh), but  around 1787  the river changed its course and began flowing eastwards and joined the Jamuna River in Assam.

11 Saudi Arabia reduced oil premium for India

Saudi Arabia,  the world’s second largest oil producer,   has reduced the premium it charges to India on its oil exports in response to changes in the emerging global energy dynamics. Asian Premium,  Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) An additional duty imposed by the US on Asian countries beyond the market-based selling price has been a matter of concern for India. India has consistently supported the abolition of this premium and has also proposed introducing an ‘Asian Discount’ instead. Notably, Saudi Arabia recently reduced the premium from around USD 10 to USD 3.5 per barrel in the year 2022. The adjustment underlines competitive dynamics in the oil market, where countries including India and China, the world’s second and third largest crude importers, have increased imports from Russia due to substantial concessions given following the Ukraine conflict.

The award, valued at $50,000, is presented annually to an outstanding Indian personality who has left an indelible mark in his or her respective field.

14 Indonesia launches Southeast Asia’s first high-speed railway ‘Whoosh’

Indonesian  President  Joko Widodo  on Monday officially  inaugurated Southeast Asia  ‘s  first high-speed railway  , marking a significant milestone in the country’s infrastructure development. The ambitious project, known as the  Whoosh ” high-speed railway, is part of China  ‘s  Belt and Road Initiative and is set to dramatically reduce travel times between two important Indonesian cities. With an estimated cost of $7.3 billion, this monumental infrastructure project was funded primarily by China. It came to fruition through the joint efforts of PT Kereta Sepat Indonesia-China (PT KCIC), a collaboration between the Indonesian consortium of four state-owned companies and China Railway International Co., Ltd.

15 Armageddon Readtale

Recently,   researchers from  MIT-World Peace University  in  the Western Ghats  of  Kerala  have discovered a new damselfly species , which has been named ‘ Armageddon Reedtail ‘ (Protosticta armageddonia). The name “Armageddon Readtail”, which refers to the term  Ecological Armageddon “, is used to highlight the global decline of insects as a result of habitat degradation and climate change. was chosen. It can be identified by its dark brownish-black body, bright green-blue eyes, and a subtle light blue pattern on half of the eight chambers of its abdomen. It particularly thrives in mountain streams under dense canopy cover. They are similar to dragonflies, but are smaller in size and have thinner bodies. Damselflies are found primarily near shallow, freshwater habitats and are beautiful flying creatures with slender bodies and long, webbed wings.

16. India won 3 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, taking India’s total medal tally to 81.

 India   has won twelve medals including three gold, five silver and four bronze  in  the 19th Asian Games  in  Hangzhou , China . India   is at fourth position in the medal table with 81 medals  including  18 gold, 31 silver and 32 bronze. This is India’s best performance so far in the Asian Games. In athletics,  Neeraj Chopra  won  gold medal  and  Kishore Kumar Jena won silver medal in men’s javelin throw.  In  the 4×400 meters relay, the men’s team  won gold and the women’s team won silver.  Harmilan Bains  won  silver medal  in 800 meters race  and  the men’s five thousand meter race . Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh  in Avinash Salbe  won   the  silver medal.  The pair of  Rambabu and Manju Rani  won the bronze medal  in  35 kilometer race walk mixed team . In archery compound, the mixed pair  of   Jyothi Surekha Vennam  and  Ojas Deotale  won the gold medal. In boxing,  Lovlina Borgohain won silver  and  Parveen Hooda  won bronze medal.  In  wrestling , Sunil Kumar  won the bronze medal in Greco-Roman.  In  squash , the mixed doubles  pair   got the bronze medal .

17 Cricket World Cup 2023

Cricket World Cup 2023   starts from 5th October . All the teams have reached India. The first match   will be played  between  England and New Zealand  at  Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad . 18 Ajay Jadeja becomes mentor of Afghanistan cricket team

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB)  on Monday   appointed former Indian captain  Ajay Jadeja as the team mentor  for the upcoming ODI World Cup  , which  is scheduled to be held in India  from October 5 to November 19 . Former Indian captain and middle-order batsman Ajay Jadeja has a distinguished cricket career to his name. He played 15 Test matches for India from 1992 to 2000, scoring 576 runs at an impressive average of 26.18, with four half-centuries to his name and a highest score of 96. In One Day Internationals (ODIs), he represented India in 196 matches, scoring 5359 runs at an impressive average of 37.47. This includes six centuries and 30 half-centuries in the limited overs format.

19 India becomes SAIF Under-19 football champion by defeating Pakistan

The Indian team  won   the title of SAFF Under-19 Football Championship  held in  Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal . In the final, India   defeated Pakistan team 3-0. This is India’s eighth title in the youth category of SAFF Championship. Earlier in the semi-finals, India had entered the finals by defeating the host Nepal team. The special thing is that recently India had also won the title of Senior SAFF Championship.
