6 Quantum-technology enabled green hydrogen production
A new high throughput quantum supported green hydrogen production technology has recently been developed by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), BHU which can promote green hydrogen production in large quantities . This will help in achieving the goal of National Green Hydrogen Mission. This technology demonstrated the use of green hydrogen as an environment-friendly energy alternative. They presented next generation quantum-driven photo-catalysts with charge transfer systems with high proton availability and mobility and also provided quantum catalyst applications for energy production. The state-of-the-art photochemical-reactor design features a built-in illumination assembly and external concave reflective panels to maximize solar energy. The team has created a sustainable electron-rich proton supply system, inspired by an electron injector system using industrial metal-waste, that can achieve maximum rates of green hydrogen production at laboratory scale.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has confirmed the presence of clay minerals with high carbon content and water retention in samples collected from asteroid Bennu (formerly 1999 RQ36) . Bennu is a 4.5 billion-year-old small-Earth asteroid that passes near Earth every six years. The asteroid was discovered in 1999 by a NASA-funded Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research team. Materials collected from Bennu serve as a time capsule of the early days of our solar system and may help answer questions about the origins of life and the nature of asteroids. NASA’s Osiris-Rex spacecraft, the first US attempt to obtain an asteroid sample, was launched in 2016 to visit Bennu. The success of the mission increases our understanding of asteroids, including those that could pose a threat to Earth. Scientists will further analyze the samples over the next two years to gain information about the origin of our solar system.
