Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the duty path of the Central Vista from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate . Shri Modi also unveiled a 28 feet tall statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate. This step is the second of the five vows of the Prime Minister for a new India in Amritkal , freedom from colonial mentality. is in line with. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Modi said that India has got new energy and inspiration today as the nation is breaking free from the shackles of colonialism during the ‘Amrit Kaal’. He said that history has been rewritten. Recalling the sacrifice and valor of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Shri Modi said that the glorious history of India is transmitted in the form of life blood among the youth of the country. A black granite statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has been installed under an umbrella near India Gate. The statue is completely hand sculpted using traditional techniques and modern tools. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s statue has been installed at the same place where Shri Modi unveiled a hologram statue of Netaji on Parakram Diwas on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of Netaji in January this year. Prime Minister Modi also visited the exhibition on the revamped Central Vista Avenue.

3.Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and FICCI launch joint initiative to attract PPP projects in agriculture

The Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the Project Management Unit (PMU) on Public Private Partnership (PPP) in New Delhi .started the Speaking on the occasion, Shri Tomar stressed on the need to strengthen the agriculture sector, as it would help in strengthening other sectors as well. He said that the PPP model can be a model for development in the agriculture sector and emphasis should be laid on benefitting the farmers by increasing the income in PPP projects. The main objective of this PPP initiative is to increase the income of small farmers by creating additional value, which includes quality seeds, inputs like fertilizers, increasing use of technology for market linkage and value addition. The PPP initiatives are also expected to modernize agricultural processes, boost research into climate resilient crops, development of agricultural and rural infrastructure and increase agricultural exports.

8.DRDO and Army successfully test-fire 6th Rapid Surface-to-Air Missile System

Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Indian Army conducted the sixth successful test-fire of the fast-responsive enemy surface-to-air QRSAM missile system . The test was conducted from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha. The Indian Army has conducted these tests as part of the evaluation trials. DRDO President Sameer V Kamat has congratulated the teams involved in the trials and said that the system is now ready to be inducted into the Indian Army.

19.28th edition of Status Report on India’s External Debt 2021-22 released

The External Debt Management Unit (EDMU) of the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance has released the 28th edition of the Status Report on India’s External Debt 2021-22. India’s external debt at US$ 620.7 billion at the end of March 2022This was 8.2 per cent higher than the US$573.7 billion debt at the end of March 2021. While 53.2 per cent of it was in the US dollar denomination, the Indian rupee denomination loan was estimated at 31.2 per cent which is the second highest amount. The external debt to GDP ratio fell marginally to 19.9 per cent at the end of March 2022 from 21.2 per cent a year ago. Foreign exchange reserves as a ratio of external debt fell marginally to 97.8 per cent at the end of March 2022 from 100.6 per cent a year ago.

21.Government banks to open 300 branches by December 2022

Government Banks (PSU Banks) are going to open about 300 physical branches in non-banking areas of various states by December 2022 . These new branches will cover all remaining villages with population above 3,000 that do not have financial institutions. Out of these 300 new branches, maximum number of PSU banks will be opened in Rajasthan 95, Madhya Pradesh 54, Gujarat 38, Maharashtra 33, Jharkhand 32 and Uttar Pradesh 31. Banks have been directed to open branches at the allotted locations by December 2022 by the respective State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC). The agency said that Bank of Baroda will open 76 branches by the end of this year and State Bank of India will open 60 branches in different states of the country.
