1.PM to launch Saryu Canal National Project in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh, benefiting 29 lakh farmers
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Uttar Pradesh ‘s Balrampur in Sarayu Nahar national project will be inaugurated. In the year 2016, this project was brought under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana so that it could be completed in a time bound manner. With renewed focus on the project, it was completed in about four years. Saryu canal projectThe cost of more than nine thousand eight hundred crore rupees has come. Out of this, provision of an amount of four thousand six hundred crores has been made in the last four years. The project also includes interlinking of five rivers – Ghaghra, Saryu, Rapti, Banganga and Rohini so that the water resources of the region can be optimally utilized. More than 14 lakh hectares of land will be irrigated by this project and about 29 lakh farmers of six thousand two hundred villages will be benefitted. It will also benefit nine districts of the state – Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Gonda, Siddharthnagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Gorakhpur and Maharajganj. The farmers of this region will now be able to grow crops on a large scale and the agricultural potential will be maximized.
