1 21-day nationwide Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign launched in honor of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country

A 21-day nationwide  Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign  has been launched in honor of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country. This campaign   will run till 30th of this month. Under this, special programs will be organized across the country at the state, village and block level as well as local urban bodies. In this campaign, commemorative plaques or plaques dedicated to freedom fighters and security forces will be installed. Along with this, programs like Panch Pran Pratigya, Vasudha Vandan and Veeron Ka Vandan will also be held in honor of the heroes. Under the campaign, an ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ will also be taken out, in which  soil will be brought from every corner of the country in seven thousand five hundred urns to make ‘ Amrit Vatika ‘  in Delhi . This ‘Amrit Vatika’ ‘ One India, Best India’‘ will be a symbol of commitment. This campaign  the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence  which began on  March 12, 2021 .  is the concluding program of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav witnessed wide public participation. During this period, more than two lakh programs were organized across the country.

2 CBI Academy joins Interpol Global Academy Network

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Academy has been  officially   inducted into the prestigious INTERPOL Global Academy Network . Stepping onto the global stage, CBI Academy now holds the   prestigious title of being the 10th member of the Interpol Global Academy Network. This induction is a testimony not only to the capabilities of the Academy, but also to its dedication towards maintaining global standards of law enforcement training and methodology. Launched in 2019, the Interpol Global Academy Network was established to advance Interpol’s mission of promoting worldwide practices for law enforcement training. 3 Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) summit to save the Amazon

After a gap of 14 years,   leaders of  the South American nation agreed to prioritize protecting the Amazon rainforest   during the  Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization summit. This jury is located  in the city of   Brazil Belem is taking place which is a testimony to the urgency of the situation. Established 45 years ago, the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) plays an important role in promoting cooperation between nations. It serves as a global entity dedicated to promoting sustainable development within the Amazon Basin. The nations included in this organization are Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela. The foundation of this cooperation was laid on July 3, 1978 with the signing of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty (ACT), which underwent amendments in 1998. To promote the implementation of this treaty, the ACT was inaugurated in 1995. Further strengthening its presence, its permanent secretariat was established in Brasilia in 2002.

4 Luna-25: Russia will launch mission to the moon

After a gap of 47 years,  Russia  is set to take a remarkable leap in lunar exploration  with the launch of   its  Luna-25 spacecraft . This venture not only marks a resurgence in space exploration but also represents a strategic race with India to reach the South Pole of the Moon. The discovery is motivated by the fascinating potential of the Moon’s south pole to provide an important resource – water. roscosmos has issued a statement in this regard. It states that the launch will take place on August 11. It will be launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome, located about 5,550 km east of the capital Moscow. It will be launched through Soyuz-2 rocket. India’s Chandrayaan-3 lunar lander, which is scheduled to touch down on the Moon’s south pole on August 23, is competing in a lunar race with Russia’s Luna-25. Both countries aim to explore the potential of the Moon’s south pole as a valuable source of water, which could have profound implications for future human presence in space.

5 Postal Life Insurance launches Direct Incentive Disbursement Program

6 SEBI launched Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) System

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)  is making significant progress in protecting the interests of investors. In order to enhance the grievance redressal process, SEBI has introduced an  Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) mechanism. Ltd. has announced the launch of an Arbitrator, aimed at empowering aggrieved investors to seek arbitration against various intermediaries. This revolutionary initiative will revolutionize the way disputes are handled in the financial market, providing a cost-effective and time-efficient option for resolution. The ODR mechanism to be introduced on August 15 seeks to broaden the ambit of the existing investor protection framework. Investors who were earlier dissatisfied with the outcome of their complaints may approach the Investor Grievance Redressal Committee (IGRC). However, ODR will enable investors to initiate arbitration against a wider range of intermediaries, making the process more comprehensive and inclusive.

7 More than 70 GW of solar power capacity has been achieved in the country

 More than  70 GW of solar power capacity  has been achieved in the country  . New and Renewable Energy Minister  R.K. Singh  gave this information in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha. The estimated solar power potential in the country is more than seven lakh 48 thousand MW. He said that the potential of solar energy has not been fully utilized so far. Shri Singh said that the government is trying to utilize the available potential through various schemes and programmes.

8 Government to sell 50 lakh tonnes of wheat and 25 lakh tonnes of rice in the open market to curb retail prices

To curb  retail prices,  the government will sell 50 lakh tonnes of wheat and 25 lakh tonnes of rice  in the open market.  Food Corporation of India  will sell wheat and rice in the open market in a phased manner under the Open Market Sale Scheme through e-auction. In the last one year, wheat prices have increased by more than six per cent in the retail market and by more than seven per cent in the wholesale market. Similarly, rice prices have increased by more than ten percent in the retail market and by more than 11 percent in the wholesale market.

9 Parliament passed three bills including the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order Amendment Bill

Parliament  today  passed the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order Amendment Bill 2023  . The Lok Sabha had already cleared the bill while the Rajya Sabha has now passed it. The Bill   amends the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order 1950  to  modify the list of Scheduled Castes  in  Chhattisgarh .  The Bill includes Mahara and Mehra communities as synonymous with Mehra, Mahar and Mehar communities in Chhattisgarh  .

10 Digital Personal Data Protection Bill-2023 passed in Parliament

Parliament  passed  the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill-2023  . Rajya Sabha approved this bill. Lok Sabha has already passed it. According to the Bill, a person can use personal data of an individual for a legal purpose based on his consent and for certain lawful uses. The Bill provides for the establishment of the Data Protection Board of India. In case of personal data breach, the Board will investigate the matter and impose penalty. The RTI Act currently allows public authorities to disclose personal information, such as salaries of officials, when it is in the public interest. The Bill would remove these warnings and completely disallow the disclosure of personal information.

11 ‘Digital India RISC-V’ seminar organized

The Digital India RISC-V Symposium ,  a one-day event organized at  the prestigious  IIT Madras Research Park on August 6, 2023,  was a momentous occasion for the Indian electronics industry . The symposium, organized by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, in association with IIT Madras and IITM Innovative Technologies Foundation, aims to showcase the future of electronics in India through the RISC-V pathway. The primary goal of the Digital India RISC-V Symposium was to create a platform to showcase India’s potential in the electronics sector. The symposium brought together respected academicians, industry experts, researchers, professors, and students to discuss advancements and innovations in the field of electronics, with a special focus on the RISC-V pathway.

12 Ethiopia declares state of emergency in Amhara Region

 Escalating  violence in Ethiopia  ‘s  Amhara region  has resulted in a state of anarchy that has led to  Fano . pitted a local ethnic militia against the national army. The situation has become so serious that the Council of Ministers has declared a state of emergency to deal with the growing threat to public safety and the significant economic damage caused by armed extremist groups. The primary reason for the declaration of a state of emergency in the Amhara region is an increase in violence between the local ethnic militia, the Fano, and the national army. Clashes have flared up over a controversial plan to integrate regional security forces into the national army. Last year, the government also attempted to suppress the Amhara militia, further increasing tensions in the region. The violence has resulted in an unknown number of casualties, caused severe economic, social and human damage, necessitating immediate intervention.

13 Rajasthan government will establish  Guru Gorakhnath board

 The recent initiative   of the Government  of Rajasthan to set up the Guru Gorakhnath Board  is a significant step towards addressing the challenges faced by the Jogi, Yogi and Nath communities in the state. Its primary objective is to identify and mitigate the problems and issues plaguing these backward classes while ensuring their access to basic and essential amenities. Based on the preliminary survey report, the Guru Gorakhnath Board will send research suggestions to the state government. These suggestions will include various welfare measures designed to meet the needs of the backward classes. The board will focus on the provision of essential amenities that can uplift the quality of life for marginalized communities.

14 Pakistan Election Commission debars former PM Imran Khan from contesting elections for 5 years after his conviction in Toshakhana case

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)  has   disqualified former Prime Minister Imran Khan for five years  after his conviction in  the Toshakhana case . A lower court in Islamabad had   sentenced Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)  chairman Imran Khan to  three years in jail and fined one lakh Pakistani rupees. After this, Imran was arrested by the Punjab Police from his residence in Zaman Park, Lahore. Former cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan was accused of selling gifts received from heads of state when he was prime minister.

15 India develops manned scientific submarine Matsya 6000: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju

India has   developed  a scientific submersible Matsya 6000 which  can carry three people for 12 hours  to  a depth of 6000 meters for deep sea mining. Union Earth Sciences Minister  Kiren Rijiju  informed in a written reply in the Lok Sabha that an integrated mining machine has been developed for collection of poly-metallic nodules from the sea bed. The locomotion test of this submarine was carried out in the middle of the Indian Ocean Region. He also informed that there has been significant progress in the development of deep sea mining technology under the Deep Ocean Mission.

16 Two Indian Navy ships arrived at Rashid Port in Dubai today for exercise

Two Indian Navy  ships  INS Visakhapatnam  and  INS Trikand   reached Rashid Port  in  Dubai  for an exercise with the  UAE Navy. The objective of this naval exercise is to share each other’s best practices and enhance coordination between the two navies. This exercise named Zayed Talwar ‘ will continue till August 11. Commanded by Rear Admiral Vineet McCarthy, the ships will demonstrate professional capabilities with the UAE Navy. In this, the main emphasis will be on maritime operations.

17 Fifth meeting of the India-Vietnam Joint Trade Sub-Commission in New Delhi

The fifth meeting  of  the India-Vietnam Joint Trade Sub-Commission (JTSC) was   held in New Delhi . The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Rajesh Agarwal, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, from the Indian side  and Ms. Phan-Thi-Thang,  Deputy Minister, Ministry of Industry and Trade, from the Vietnamese side.  Did it. The meeting was held after a gap of more than four years since the 4th JTSC meeting held in January 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other reasons. Vietnam is India’s 23rd largest global trading partner and 5th largest among ASEAN countries with bilateral trade of USD 14.70 billion during 2022-23. Vietnam accounts for 11.2 per cent of India’s total trade with ASEAN. Vietnam is a major buyer of India’s iron and steel and agricultural and animal products, mainly meat products, animal feed, cereals and marine products.

18 Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal participated in the 13th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting

Shri Piyush Goyal,  Union  Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles   participated in the 13th BRICS Trade Ministers Meeting  held under  the BRICS Chairmanship  of  South Africa . The theme of BRICS this year is ” BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development and Inclusive Multilateralism “. Shri Piyush Goyal discussed issues related to WTO, supply chain, digitization, MSMEs and issues related to mispricing and under billing in the meeting.

19 Commander (Eastern Seaboard) S Paramesh appointed Additional Director General of Coast Guard

Commander (Eastern Seaboard) S Paramesh  has   been appointed as Additional Director General  Coast Guard at  Indian Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi . Prior to taking over as Additional Director General, Coast Guard, the Flag Officer was posted at the helm of Coast Guard Region (East), Coast Guard Region (West) and Coast Guard Commander (Eastern Seaboard). The Flag Officer is an alumnus of the National Defense College, New Delhi and the Defense Services Staff College, Wellington.

20 Neeraj Chopra to lead the Indian contingent at the World Athletics Championships 2023

 Noted  javelin thrower  Neeraj Chopra  will lead the Indian contingent at the World Athletics Championships 2023 . The championship   will begin   on  August 19 in Budapest . The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports  has announced that it  will provide funds to  28 Indian athletes for this mega event. Matches will be played till 27th August. Of the 28 athletes participating, 15 will be competing in a World Championship event for the first time. Former under-20 silver medalist  Shaili Singh (long jump)  is the youngest in the championship.
