1 Mumbai becomes Asia’s billionaire capital: Hurun Report

India’s financial capital, Mumbai has emerged as the Asian billionaire capital, replacing China’s capital Beijing,  according to  Hurun India  ‘s  13th Hurun Global Rich List report. Mumbai has also emerged as the fastest growing billionaire capital in the world. According to Hurun report, the number of billionaires in Mumbai has increased from 66 to 92. According to the report, due to the boom in the stock market, India has the highest number of new billionaires after the United States. In this year’s list,  132 people from the United States were added to the list of billionaires, while 94 people were added to the list of Indian billionaires for the first time  . However, 10 people included in the list of billionaires last year have not been included this year. Thus,  the total number of new Indian billionaires joining the list this year  is 84. Thus the number of billionaires in India has increased to 271. According to the 13th Hurun Global Rich List,  Tesla CEO Elon Musk  is the world’s richest man with a net worth of $231 billion . Amazon’s Jeff Bezos is at second place with assets of $185 billion. Bernard Arnault, owner of luxury brand LVMH, is in third place with a wealth of $175 billion. The only Indian among the world’s top 10 billionaires   is Mukesh Ambani , Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited. However, he  fell from 9th to 10th.  . Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani is at 15th place in this list. China had the highest number of billionaires at 814. Last year, China had 956 billionaires in the Hurun list. In second place is the United States with 800 billionaires.

2 Border Roads Organization (BRO) connects strategic Nimmu-Padam-Darcha road in Ladakh

The Border Roads Organization (BRO)   connected the strategic Nimmu-Padam-Darcha road  in  Ladakh on March 25, 2024  . This road, totaling 298 km,  will connect Manali to Leh via Darcha and Nimmu  on  the Kargil-Leh Highway . This road is now  the third axis apart from Manali-Leh and Srinagar-Leh  , which will connect Ladakh to remote areas. The strategic importance of the Nimmu-Padam-Darcha road is evident from the fact that it is not only shorter than the other two axes but also has only one pass –  Shinkun La (16,558 ft) , on which tunnel work is about to begin by the BRO. – Passes through. As a result, this road will remain connected to Ladakh region in all seasons. This connectivity will strengthen defense preparedness and boost economic development in the Zanskar Valley.

3 Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi sworn in as judicial member of Lokpal of India

Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi  took oath as  judicial member of Lokpal  . The Lokpal of India is headed by Justice  A.M. Khanvilkar  administered the oath. Shri Pankaj Kumar and Shri Ajay Tirkey took oath as Lokpal members. The oath ceremony was organized at the Indian Lokpal Office in New Delhi. New Appointments Two sitting judicial members Justice PK Mohanty and Justice Abhilasha Kumari and three members Shri DK Jain, Smt Archana Ramasundaram and Shri Mahendra Singh have completed their tenure in the Lokpal on March 26, 2024. Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi served as the Chairperson of the 22nd Law Commission of India before joining as Judicial Member of the Lokpal of India. Earlier, he was the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court.

4 CCI approves 100 per cent acquisition of Lanco Amarkantak Power Ltd by Adani Power Ltd

The Competition Commission of India (CCI)  has  approved  the 100 per cent acquisition of Lanco Amarkantak Power Limited   by Adani Power Limited . Adani Power Limited (Acquirer), a part of the Adani Group, is a company incorporated under the laws of India. The Acquirer is engaged in the business of thermal power generation in India. The Acquirer operates its thermal power plants in several states in India including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. Adani Group is a global integrated infrastructure company, operating across key industry sectors – resources, logistics and energy. Lanco Amarkantak Power Limited (TARGET), a part of the Lanco Group, is engaged in the business of thermal power generation in India. Target is currently going through the corporate insolvency resolution process (CIRP) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (IBC).

5 Saudi Arabia will participate in the Miss Universe pageant for the first time

Saudi Arabia  has decided to participate in the Miss Universe pageant for the first time  on 26 March 2024 as a historic event  . The move is an important move by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud to shed the image of Saudi Arabia as a conservative country. In this context, 27-year-old model  Rumi Alqahtani  announced on Instagram that she will be the country’s first participant in the international competition. She will represent Saudi Arabia at the Miss Universe pageant. Rumi Alqahtani is a famous model and influencer from Saudi Arabia. This will be the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s first appearance in the competition. Rumi Alqahtani has been Miss Saudi Arabia.

6 India to convert minimum wage into living wage by 2025

The Government of India   plans  to replace the minimum wage with a living wage by 2025  with technical support from the International Labor Organization (ILO) . They have approached the ILO for assistance in capacity building, data collection and demonstrating the positive economic impacts of a living wage. India, being a founding member of the ILO since 1922, is committed to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. The shift from a minimum to a living wage is seen as a strategy to accelerate poverty alleviation efforts. Labor Secretary, Sumita Dawra stressed the importance of considering health, education and living standards as key factors in defining a living wage for developing countries, aligning with India’s national poverty assessment using multidimensional indicators. Gave. The wage code, passed in 2019 but pending implementation, proposes a universal wage ceiling applicable to all states when implemented.

7 Punjab: Election Commission is running ‘Seventy Paar This Time’ campaign to increase the voting percentage.

Preparations for Lok Sabha elections  are in full swing  in  Punjab . Notification for the seventh and final phase of voting to be held in the state on June 1 will be issued on May 5. Most of the parties are still considering candidates.  There was  65.94 percent voting in the state in the 2019 general elections . The Election Office is running a special campaign ‘ This Time Sattar Paar ‘ with the aim of making people aware about the voting rights to cross the target of seventy percent voting.

8 Kashmiri girls started Mera Vote Mera Gaurav initiative

To make people  aware and motivated to vote  and to increase voter participation in elections, some girls from Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir have   started a new initiative named Mera Vote Mera Gaurav . Reasi District Election Officer Special Paul Mahajan has appreciated the efforts of these girls who are going to vote for the first time. Doordarshan talked to these girls.

Masan Holi   is a two-day special event  celebrated in  Varanasi . During this festival people  apply pyre ashes and gulal on each other  . This event is also known as celebrating death. During this festival, many people gather in large numbers on the river bank or ghat. They dance, sing and chant ” Har-Har Mahadev “. Masan Holi ritual in Varanasi   is celebrated using the ashes of pyre to commemorate the mythological incident of Holika-Prahlad . The use of pyre ashes in Masan Holi of Varanasi symbolizes the shortness of life and the cyclical nature of human existence in this materialistic world.

10 America and Britain impose sanctions on China over alleged cyber espionage

The US and Britain  have announced sanctions against Chinese state-backed hackers over  recent  malicious attacks. To counter cyber threats, the United States and the United Kingdom took coordinated action by imposing sanctions on individuals and groups associated with China. The sanctions were imposed in response to allegations of a widespread cyber espionage campaign conducted by China that has targeted politicians, journalists, critics of Beijing and strategically important companies and government officials.

11 FIFA World Cup Qualifier: Sunil Chhetri scored a goal in his 150th match, but India lost

Indian men  ‘s football team captain  Sunil Chhetri’s 150th international match  which was played at  the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati, Assam  , ended with a big disappointment. India suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Afghanistan in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers played at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati, Assam on 26 March 2024. India’s defeat against Afghanistan has dented its chances of making it to the third round of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup 2027 preliminary joint qualifiers.

12 Hockey Haryana won the 14th Hockey India Senior Women’s National Championship

Hockey Haryana won the 14th Hockey India Senior Women’s National Championship  by defeating  hosts Hockey Maharashtra   in the final  . The final was played on 23 March 2024 at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium Pimpri, Pune, Maharashtra. At the end of the scheduled time in the final, both the teams were tied at 1-1. Hockey Haryana defeated Maharashtra 3-0 in the penalty shootout to win the 14th Hockey India Senior Women’s National Championship for the third time. Hockey Haryana had previously won the Senior Women’s National Championship in 2013 and 2020.
