1.The tenure of the Jammu and Kashmir Delimitation Commission has been extended

The Central Government has extended the term of the Jammu and Kashmir Delimitation Commission for the second time . This commission was entrusted with the task of re -determining the assembly constituencies of the Union Territories . The tenure of this commission has been extended by two months and it will end on May 6 . The delimitation process will play an important role in starting the political process of Jammu and Kashmir. After the completion of the delimitation process in the Union Territory, the election process will start. This Delimitation Commission was constituted on March 6, 2020 . This commission is headed by retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai .Is doing. This commission was already given an extension of one year last year. Under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill, the number of assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir will be increased from 107 to 114, which will benefit the Jammu region.

2.Sanjeev Sanyal became the new member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council (EAC-PM)

Recently, Sanjeev Sanyal has been appointed as a full time member in the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) . Sanyal had previously served as the Principal Economic Adviser to the Finance Minister under the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He had been working in the financial markets since the mid-1990s. As of 2015, he was the Managing Director and Global Strategist at Deutsche Bank. In 2017, he was appointed as the Principal Economic Adviser to the Government of India. In 2007, he received the Eisenhower Fellowship for his work on urban issues. He was honored by the Singapore government at the World Cities Summit in 2014. He has written several books including The Indian Renaissance: India’s Rise After a Thousand Years of Decline ,”Land of the Seven Rivers: A Brief History of India’s Geography ,’ and, The Incredible History of India’s Geography . Sanjeev Sanyal attended Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi and St John’s College, Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.

3.KN Raghavan to be new chairman of International Rubber Study Group

The Executive Director, Rubber Board of India, K.N. Raghavan has been elected as the new chairman of the International Rubber Study Group (IRSG). He will serve as the group’s chairman for the next two years . He will chair the Heads of Delegation meeting to be held in Singapore on March 31 . India, being both a producer and consumer of rubber, would be in a good position to protect the interests of both producers and consumers in the IRSG – the only international commodity body approved by the Common Fund for Commodities for development financing in the rubber sector.

4.Center nominates Sanjay Malhotra as director of RBI’s central board

The Union Government has nominated Sanjay Malhotra , Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance , as a Director on the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India ( RBI ) . The nomination of Malhotra, a 1990 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, is effective from February 16, 2022 till further orders. Prior to his appointment as DFS Secretary, Malhotra was the Chairman and Managing Director of REC Ltd. He replaced Debashish Panda, who completed his term on January 31, 2022.

5.Oil was discovered in Barmer, Rajasthan

Vedanta Limited Cairn Oil & Gas has discovered oil in Barmer district of Rajasthan The company has informed the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons about the discovery. This oil was discovered by Cairn Oil & Gas in a block which was given to them under the Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP). Block RJ-ONHP-2017/1 Chohtan and Gudmalani Tehsil of Barmer Districtis located in. The block covers an area of ​​542 square kilometers and was one of the company’s 41 blocks that were allotted in the 2018 OALP-I round of bidding. Vedanta has 100% participating interest in this block. This discovery is the third such discovery that the company has reported under the Open Acreage Licensing Policy. The name given to this discovery is ‘Durga’.

6.Women Safety Squad launched in Jammu and Kashmir

Recently, Jammu and Kashmir Police has deployed two Women Safety Squad in Srinagar city . Each squad will consist of 5 women police officers or employees and both the squads will be led by Inspector Khalida Parveen. These squads were started to help women in times of crisis. Its main objective is to ensure the safety of girls especially in schools, colleges, universities, coaching centers and other such places. These squads would patrol the entire city including educational institutions during the day. The Srinagar Police has also launched a 24×7 supported women helpline number especially for issues related to the safety of women.

7.IIT Roorkee launches ‘Kisan’ mobile app

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) has launched a mobile app named ‘ Kisan ‘ for farmers. Agro-meteorological advisory services will be provided to the farmers through this app . Rural Agricultural Weather Service (GKMS) ProjectFarmer awareness program was organized by IIT Roorkee under Farmers from Dehradun, Haridwar and Pauri Garhwal districts participated in this program. The participating farmers were taught about the agromet advisory services jointly provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and AMFU Roorkee. Agromet advisory services are already being provided twice a week to the farmers of six blocks of Haridwar. Bulletins can be accessed through mobile phones through this Kisan App. A unique feature of this app is that advisory bulletin and weather forecast will be displayed only for that particular block which has been selected by the farmers. Farmers can share feedback about the bulletins they receive, which in turn will help in providing better services. This app will be updated as per the requirements of the farmers.

8.Lt Governor approves J&K’s FDI policy

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has approved the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy for Jammu and Kashmir with a minimum foreign equity stake of 51 per cent . LG Manoj Sinha approved the policy to promote foreign investment in the industrial sector in Jammu and Kashmir during the meeting of the Administrative Council in Jammu. This new policy is based on the Guiding Framework on FDI of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Reserve Bank of India (RBI). This policy will be applicable for the next ten years. The FDI policy in J&K aims at minimum foreign equity of 51 per cent with foreign investment of over Rs 100 crore.

9.Hurricane Eunice wreaked havoc in Europe

Hurricane Younis issued the first red weather warning in London on February 19, 2022 . It was one of the strongest storms in Europe since 1984 , when Great Stormaffected Britain and northern France. At least 13 people have died in Europe due to strong winds, falling trees and debris. It has taken 1.4 million homes off the grid, with emergency workers struggling to restore power. It also severely affected travel in Britain, closing the English Channel port of Dover and the bridges connecting England and Wales. It has also stopped most trains in and out of London. It had winds of up to 200 mph. Younis is the second hurricane to hit Europe this week. The first storm killed at least five people in Germany and Poland.

10.India to set up its first IIT outside the country in UAE

Indian Institute of Technology will set up its first branch outside India in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of the India-UAE trade agreement . The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed between the United Arab Emirates and India will usher in a new phase of joint strategic cooperation in all fields. The two countries will also set up an India-UAE Cultural Council to facilitate and promote cultural projects, cross-cultural exchanges and exhibitions.

11.Iran unveils Khyber-Buster missile

Iran unveiled a new missile called the ” Khyber Buster Missile “, which is capable of targeting nearby US and Israeli targets . It has a range of 900 miles . This missile runs on solid fuel . It has high accuracy and is completely domestically manufactured. This missile can defeat the shield system. Israel’s closest point to Iran is 620 miles away. Iran has missiles, which can range up to 1250 miles. Iran also has the largest arsenal of missiles in the Middle East.

12.Dredging museum ‘Nirkarshan Sadan’ inaugurated by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal

India’s Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal has inaugurated the Nikarshan Sadan – Dredging Museum at the DCI campus in Visakhapatnam . The museum displays models of a variety of dredgers, old photographs and historical landmarks from the eastern port city of Vizag. DCI is celebrating 45 years of its dedicated dredging services to the nation’s ports, which also coincides with the “Nectar Festival of Freedom”.

13.EU Data Act draft released

On 23 February 2022 the European Commission published its draft Data Act . European Commission a set of new rules for data sharinghave set. It is part of the EU’s strategy to make the bloc a leader in a data-agile economy. This proposed law aims to make data sharing and easy access and to set a standard at the EU level. It asks manufacturers to allow owners of connected devices to see what data they are collecting. It also wants to give companies and consumers more control over what can be done with their data. It clarifies who can access the data and on what conditions. The new rules also mean that government bodies and public bodies will be able to request access to privately held data for legal obligations or public emergencies, but not for day-to-day law enforcement activities.

14.India Ratings cuts GDP growth rate to 8.6% for FY22

India Ratings has revised its GDP growth forecast for 2021-22 to 8.6 per cent , from 9.2 per cent estimated earlier . According to India’s rating analysis, the real GDP growth of the National Statistical Organization (NSO) for the fiscal year 2022 is likely to be Rs 147.2 lakh crore. This translates into a GDP growth rate of 8.6 percent, down from the 9.2 percent forecast in the first advance estimate released on January 7, 2022.

15.Reliance Jio’s new sub cable ‘India-Asia-Express’ to connect Maldives

India’s largest 4G mobile broadband and digital services provider, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. will launch the next generation multi-terabit India-Asia-Express (IAX) undersea cable system in Hulhumale, Maldives . The high-capacity and high-speed IAX system will directly connect Hulhumale to the world’s major Internet hubs in India and Singapore. On the other hand, the India-Europe-Express (IEX) system connects Mumbai with Milan, landing in Savona, Italy, and includes additional landings in the Middle East, North Africa and the Mediterranean Sea. While the IAX is expected to be ready for service by the end of 2023, the IEX will be ready for service in mid-2024.

16.Mastercard ties up with SBI Payments to promote digital payments

20.24 February: Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana completes 3 years

On February 24, 2022 , 3 years of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana have been completed . This scheme was launched with the aim of increasing the income of the farmers. Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year is provided to the farmers. This scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 24, 2019 from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Its implementation is being done by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
