1 PM launches ‘Developed India @2047: Voice of Youth’

Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi  through video conferencing launched ‘ Developed India@2047: Voice of YouthIn line with the Prime Minister’s vision of actively involving the youth of the country in the formulation of the country’s national plans, priorities and goals, the ‘Develop India @2047: Voice of Youth’ initiative will provide a platform to the youth of the country. Through this they will be able to contribute their ideas to the vision of Developed India@2047. These workshops will be an important step towards initiating the process of engaging youth to share their ideas and suggestions for a Developed India@2047. Developed India@2047 aims to make India a developed nation by the 100th year of independence i.e. 2047. This vision encompasses various aspects of development including economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability and good governance.

2 Supreme Court upheld the Central Government’s decision to abrogate Article 370

 In a historic decision,  the Supreme Court  has upheld  the Central Government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution  . Under this article, the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir was given special status. The Center   had abrogated Article 370  in 2019 and  divided the state into two  union territories —  Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir . A five-judge Constitution bench  headed by  Chief Justice  DY Chandrachud  gave this decision after hearing petitions challenging the Centre’s decision. The Supreme Court said that  Article 370 was a temporary provision and the President  has the right to abrogate it. In August 2019, the court upheld the decision to separate Ladakh from Jammu and Kashmir and make it a union territory. The Court said that  Jammu and Kashmir has no internal sovereignty unlike other states  and  all the provisions of the Indian Constitution  apply to Jammu and Kashmir . The other four judges of the Constitution bench   included Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai and Surya Kant . The judges rendered three separate decisions but the final decision was unanimous. The Supreme Court said that statehood should be restored to Jammu and Kashmir as soon as possible  . The bench asked the Election Commission to  postpone elections till September 2024. The bench also directed

3 Jammu and Kashmir Reservation and Reorganization Amendment Bill passed in Parliament

Jammu-Kashmir Reservation-Amendment Bill 2023  and  Jammu-Kashmir Reorganization Amendment Bill 2023  have been passed  in  the Parliament . Rajya Sabha approved these. The Lok Sabha had approved it last week. Jammu-Kashmir Reservation-Amendment Bill-2023   is about amendment in Jammu-Kashmir Reservation Bill-2004 . This Act   provides for reservation in jobs and admission in professional institutions for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and socially and educationally backward people. This Bill replaces the vulnerable and deprived classes declared by Jammu and Kashmir with Other Backward Classes. On the other hand, Jammu-Kashmir Reorganization-Amendment Bill-2023   is about amendment in Jammu-Kashmir Reorganization Bill-2019 . This bill amended the Second Schedule of the 1950 Act specifying a total of 83 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir   Assembly .  There is a provision in the proposed bill  to increase the total number of seats to 90 . In this,  7 seats  have been proposed for Scheduled Castes and 9 seats for Scheduled Tribes . The bill also states that  the Lieutenant Governor  can nominate two members from among Kashmiri displaced persons  in the Assembly  . in these  members should be a woman . Displaced persons are defined as persons displaced from the Kashmir Valley or any other part of Jammu and Kashmir after 1st November, 1989 and registered with the Relief Commissioner.

6 Renowned Hindi writer Pushpa Bharti won the 33rd Vyas Samman.

This year  the 33rd Vyas Samman  will be awarded to  well-known Hindi writer  Pushpa Bharti . This award  was started by the KK Birla Foundation  in 1991 .  This honor   is given every year for an outstanding work of Hindi literature by an Indian citizen published in the last 10 years. The foundation said Ms Bharti will be honored with her memoirs –  Memories, Memories and Memories  has been selected forHe will be honored with a sum of Rs 4 lakh, a citation and a plaque.

7 According to the government, 58 airports across the country were included in the Krishi Udaan scheme.

The government has said that  58 airports across the country  have been included in the Krishi Udaan scheme.  Krishi Udaan scheme  to be launched  in 2020  was launchedThis scheme helps farmers in transportation of agricultural products so that they can get fair price for their products. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Dr. V.K. Singh said this in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha. He informed that the second phase of Krishi Udaan Scheme was announced in 2021 for transportation of perishable food items to hilly areas, north-eastern states and tribal areas.

8 BJP leader Dr. Mohan Yadav will be the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh

 Senior BJP leader in  Madhya Pradesh Dr. Mohan Yadav  will be the new Chief Minister of the state. He was unanimously selected for this post in the meeting of BJP Legislature Party. 9 Government will buy two lakh tonnes of onion this Kharif season to control prices

 The government will purchase  2 lakh tonnes of onion  during this Kharif season to provide  adequate quantity of  onion in the market.  While giving information to the journalists in New Delhi,  Secretary  in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Rohit Kumar Singh said that in view of the current production of onion and the global situation, the government  has  banned the export of onion till March 31, 2024 . He said that this step will reduce onion prices. Mr. Singh said that the consumer retail price of onion has declined by 4.3 percent in the last month.

10 Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur formally inaugurated the Khelo India Para Games for the first time in New Delhi

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports  Anurag Singh Thakur   formally inaugurated the Khelo India Para Games  in  New Delhi . These  games  are being organized for the first time. More than 1,400 players from 32 states and union territories  including the Army Sports Control Board will participate in the eight-day event  . Para athletes will participate in seven events including shooting, archery, athletics, football, badminton, table tennis, weightlifting. The aim of this Games is to provide an opportunity to aspiring para athletes to showcase their skills and make a career in para sports.

12 Sanitary Napkins facility under PMBJP

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has  recently   drawn attention to Jan Aushadhi Suvidha Sanitary Napkins  , an initiative under  the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP)  to increase access to  women’s health and menstrual hygiene products . Jan Aushadhi Suvidha Sanitary Napkins  are available at  a discounted price of Re 1 per pad at Jan Aushadhi centers across India. Since its inception till November 30, 2023, more than Rs 47.87 crore of Jan Aushadhi Suvidha sanitary pads have been sold through Jan Aushadhi Kendras. Sanitary pads are oxy-biodegradable and maintain good quality standards. PMBJP is a campaign launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals to provide quality medicines at affordable prices to the public. PMBJP stores have been set up to provide generic medicines, which are available at lower prices but at par with expensive branded medicines in quality and efficacy.

13 India selected as lead country for International Maritime Organization (IMO) Green Voyage2050 project

India  has been recognized as a lead country  for the  International Maritime Organization (IMO)  Green Voyage-2050 project  , an important step towards reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from ships. The GreenVoyage-2050 project is a partnership project launched in 2019 between the Government of Norway and IMO, which aims to transform the shipping industry into a low-carbon future. The initial IMO strategy sets out a clear vision to reduce total annual GHG emissions by a minimum of 50% by 2050 relative to 2008 levels. The GreenVoyage-2050 project is underway in 12 countries: Azerbaijan, Belize, China, Cook Islands, Ecuador, Georgia, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Solomon Islands, South Africa and Sri Lanka. The participating countries can be broadly classified into “new pilot countries” and “leading pilot countries”.

18 Pinna nobilis found in considerable numbers in Croatian waters

A giant  clam  that was on the verge of extinction   has been found in significant numbers in the seas off Croatia . The clam,  known as the noble pen shell  or  Pinna nobilis  , began to become extinct as a deadly pathogen in parts of the Mediterranean Sea around 2016. Clams, whose shells can grow up to 1.2 meters long, play an important ecological role by purifying seawater and promoting the growth of other organisms. They have been observed in the Adriatic and the Istria peninsula.

20 The Supreme Court introduced SUVAS for regional language access

Recently  the Indian Law Minister  said that  the Supreme Court  has introduced  SUVAS, an AI-powered translation tool  to facilitate the use of regional languages ​​in legal proceedings. This specialized tool, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology,  currently translates English judicial documents into eleven Indian languages. Additionally, the Chief Justice of India said that the historic Kesavananda Bharti judgment is available in 10 Indian languages ​​on the Supreme Court website, marking 50 years of the judgment. In the Kesavananda Bharati case, the Constitution Bench ruled by a majority of 7:6 that Parliament can amend any part of the Constitution, so long as it does not alter or amend the basic structure or essential features of the Constitution.
