1.Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveils bronze statue of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju in Andhra Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a bronze statue of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary at Bhimavaram in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh . Speaking on the occasion, Shri Modi said that the country is celebrating 75 years of independence and we are simultaneously celebrating the 125th anniversary of Alluri Sitarama Raju. He said that hundred years of ‘ Rampa Kranti ‘ have also been completed for the country’s independence . 4 July 1897Born on 18, Alluri Sitarama Raju is remembered for his fight against the British to safeguard the interests of the tribal communities in the Eastern Ghats region. He had led the Rampa Rebellion , which started in 1922 . He is called ” Manyam Veerudu ” (the hero of the forests) by the local people . In the year 1924, Alluri Sitarama Raju was taken into police custody and publicly shot after being tied to a tree and the armed rebellion was effectively put to an end. The government plans to launch several initiatives as part of the year-long celebrations. Alluri Sitarama Raju’s birthplace and Chintapalli police station at Pandarangi in Vizianagaram district(to commemorate 100 years of the Rampa Rebellion – the attack on this police station that started the Rampa Rebellion) will be renovated. The government has also approved the construction of Alluri Dhyan Mandir at Mogallu , which has a statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju in meditation posture, depicting the life story of this freedom fighter through murals and AI-enabled interactive system . The Alluri Sitarama Raju Memorial Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum is being built in Lambasingi, Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Northeast Development G. Kishan Reddy also addressed the function. Andhra Pradesh Governor Vishwa Bhushan Harichandanalso participated in the programme.

2.Inauguration of Technology Innovation Center on State-of-the-art Autonomous Navigation – Tihan at IIT Hyderabad Campus

4.Delhi Assembly passes Wages, Allowances and Pension Amendment Bill 2022

The Delhi Assembly passed the Wages, Allowances and Pension Amendment Bill 2022 on the first day of the two-day special session . In the bill, the monthly salary and allowances of Ministers, MLAs, Chief Whip, Speaker and Deputy Speaker and Leader of the Opposition have been increased from Rs 54 thousand to about Rs 90 thousand. After the bill is passed, it will be sent to the President for his assent. Delhi’s Minister of Law, Justice and Legislative Affairs, Kailash Gehlot introduced the bill.

5.Department of Disinvestment and Public Asset Management completes the process of disinvestment of Nilanchal Ispat Nigam Limited in Odisha

6.Indian Navy participates in Seychelles Independence Day Celebration Parade

8.India accounts for 40 percent of the world’s digital transactions: Nirmala Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that forty percent of the world’s digital transactions take place in India . He treated and appreciated the Digital India initiative. He said that in the last eight years, the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done effective work towards strengthening digital banking.

10.ALH Squadron INAS 324 Commissioned at Visakhapatnam

11.Kai Chutney submitted for Geographical Indication in Odisha

Scientific Kai Chutney has been submitted for Geographical Indication (GI) registry in Odisha . The GI tag standard will help in developing a structured hygiene protocol for widespread use of kai chutney. The GI label enhances the prestige and value of local products and supports local businesses. In the year 2019, Odisha got GI tag for Odisha Rasgulla . The Kai (Red Weaver Ant) ants , scientifically called Ocophila smaragdina , live in Mayurbhanj throughout the year.are found in abundance. They build nests from the leaves of the host trees. Nests are strong enough to withstand wind and impervious to water. Moss nests are usually oval in shape and range from a small folded leaf to a large nest consisting of several leaves that exceed half a meter in length. Kai Chutney is prepared from Weaver Ants and is popular amongst most of the tribal people in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. When needed, the leafy nests of ants are plucked from their host trees and collected in a bucket of water before the leaves and debris are sorted and separated. It helps in getting rid of flu, common cold, whooping cough, increasing appetite and improving eyesight naturally. Tribal healers also prepare medicated oils, Which is used as baby oil and used externally to cure arthritis, ringworm and other skin diseases. It is the only panacea for the tribes.

15.RBI amended the rules for sorting and authentication of banknotes

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday issued guidelines directing banks to test their banknote sorting machines on a quarterly basis . Authentication and sorting after the introduction of the new series of banknotes by the central bankRevised the existing guidelines for The Reserve Bank said that in case of discrepancies during sorting, sellers will be required to re-calibrate the equipment. As per the new changes, banks should prepare a test deck containing at least 2,000 soiled notes, including mutilated and counterfeit Indian currency notes. The machine should be tested using notes of different denominations, including old and new series of Rs 100 notes, Rs 200 notes, Rs 500 notes and Rs 2,000 notes. After reviewing these parameters in the light of issuance of new series of banknotes, a new set of instructions is attached for implementation. According to the data of RBI’s annual report for 2021-22, banknotes are now issued in the following denominations: Rs 2, Rs 5, Rs 10, Rs 20, Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 200, Rs 500 and Rs 2000. In terms of value, the combined ratio of Rs 500 and Rs 2000 banknotes accounts for 87.1 per cent of the banknotes in use. When it comes to quantity, the largest percentage of banknotes in circulation till March 31 were in the Rs 500 denomination, accounting for 34.9 per cent of the total.
