1.Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat dies in helicopter crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu
An Indian Air Force helicopter Mi-17 V-5 carrying Chief of Defense Staff – CDS General Bipin Rawat and 13 others – crashed in a dense forest near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu ‘s Nilgiris district . According to reports, the accident took place due to bad weather. CDS Bipin Rawat was on his way to deliver a speech at a military institute in Tamil Nadu. The accident resulted in the tragic death of CDS Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 other army officers. Group Captain Varun Singh is the only survivor in this accident, his condition is currently critical and he is undergoing treatment.
2.Loan Agreement between India and Asian Development Bank to provide affordable housing to the urban poor of Tamil Nadu
India and the Asian Development Bank havesigned a $150 million loan agreement toprovide affordable housing to the urban poor in Tamil Nadu . The agreement was signed by Rajat Kumar Mishra, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs and Takiyo Konishi, Director, India Resident Mission, Asian Development Bank. The project is aligned with the government’s development priorities and urban area development policies, especially the flagship program Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Housing for All.

Renowned Konkani writer Damodar Maujo has been announced the Jnanpith Award for the year 2022 . Damodar Moujo is the second Konkani writer to receive the highest literary award , before Ravindra Kelekar was given the honor in 2006. Mauso is a short story novelist and screenwriter. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1983 for the novel Carmelin . Many of his short stories have been translated into other languages and published in various magazines. His stories reflect the struggle and pain of the poor. The 56th Jnanpith Award for the year 2021 to Assamese language poet Nilamani Phukan was selected for.
5.NASA selects Indian-origin Dr. Anil Menon as astronaut for its upcoming missions

Indian-origin physicist Anil Menon to NASA with nine other astronautsselected for future missions. This announcement has been made by the US Space Agency. 45-year-old Menon is a lieutenant colonel in the US Air Force. He has served as a flight surgeon for NASA and has also been involved in the Soyuz mission. In a statement, NASA announced that it has selected ten new astronaut candidates from more than 12,000 applications to represent America in space and work for the benefit of humanity. Earlier in July, Indian-origin aeronautical engineer Srisha Bandla was selected as the third woman astronaut after Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams. So far, Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma is the only Indian citizen to travel in space. Rakesh Sharma, a former pilot of the Indian Air Force, flew under the Soviet space program on April 3, 1984 from Soyuz T-11.
6.RBI announces bi-monthly monetary policy, no change in key interest rates
The Reserve Bank of India has not made any change in its key interest rates . The Monetary Policy Committee took this decision unanimously, adopting a flexible approach. Bi-monthly monetary policy to announce the review, the Reserve Bank Governor Sktikant Das said MSF – ie the marginal standing facility rate and key interest Dren- repo rate 4 percent and Rivers repo rate three point three-five percent will remain intact. The Reserve Bank has retained the GDP-GDP growth forecast to be 9.5 percent in 2021-22. In the third quarter it can be 6 decimal 6 percent and in the fourth quarter it can be 6 percent. In the first quarter of the year 2022-23, the rate of GDP has been projected to be 17 decimal 2 percent and in the second quarter to 7 decimal 8 percent. In 2021-22, the inflation rate based on the Consumer Price Index may remain at 5.3%.
7.President presents the President’s Flag to the 22nd Missile Vessel Squadron of the Indian Navy in Mumbai

This test is an important link in the development of BrahMos missile. The test paved the way for the production system of aircraft-launched BrahMos missiles in the country. The major airframe assemblies of the indigenously manufactured missile are an integral part of the Ramjet engine.

Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das has launched UPI (Unified Payment Interface) for feature phone users in Mumbai to make digital payments empowered and inclusive.based integrated facility has been announced. The move is expected to make transactions easier for consumers, increase the participation of retail customers in various segments of the financial markets and enhance the capacity of service providers. He also informed that the bank is also planning to simplify the process through the provision of ‘on-device’ wallets for small transactions. RBI said that according to the October data of telecom regulator TRAI, the number of mobile phone users in India is about 118 crore. It has 74 crore smartphones while the rest are feature phones. Feature phone users have limited access to digital payment products. However, feature phones have NUUP (National Unified USSD Platform). This is an option to get basic paid service.

The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin till March 2024 . Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will ensure housing for all in rural areas. He said that under this scheme, the remaining one hundred 55 lakh houses would be helped in construction and the target of construction of two crore 95 lakh pucca houses would be completed. Shri Thakur said that the cabinet has approved the project of interlinking of Ken-Betwa rivers . This project will ensure the availability of water in the Bundelkhand region facing water scarcity .

14.NASA Launches Laser Communications Relay Demonstration
On December 7, 2021 , NASA launched the new Laser Communications Relay Demonstration (LCRD) from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida . LCRD was launched after a delay of two years. It was launched into space by the Department of Defense on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket during the Space Test Program Satellite-6 (STPSat-6) mission. The mission was launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. It will benefit the “ Artemis manned moon-landing mission ”, which will be executed in 2025 . Laser Technology Radio Frequency in Space10-100 times more data to be sent back to Earth. This technology will also prevent congestion of the radio frequency spectrum. The LCRD is important because NASA and the commercial sector are planning multiple space missions.
15.RBI: Gujarat becomes India’s largest manufacturing hub
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data, Gujarat has overtaken Maharashtra to become the major manufacturing hub of the country . The data shows that Gujarat grew gross value addition (GVA) in the manufacturing sector by 15.9 per cent year-on-year to Rs 5.11 lakh crore between FY 2012 and FY 2020. GVA is an economic metric that measures the supply of goods and services in an economy. Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s annual growth rate stood at almost half of Gujarat’s 7.5 per cent for the same period and its GVA for manufacturing stood at Rs 4.34 lakh crore in FY20. Maharashtra is still the leading provider of services in India, with the GVA of the state’s services growing at 12.6 per cent annually to Rs 15.1 lakh crore in FY20.
