Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi  laid  the foundation stone of several projects worth about Rs 5000 crore  in   sectors like  roads, rail, aviation, health and higher education  in  Jodhpur , Rajasthan and dedicated them to the nation . These projects   include laying the foundation stone of 350 bedded Trauma Center and Critical Care Hospital Block at AIIMS, Jodhpur, 7 Critical Care Blocks under PM-ABHIM and development work of new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport. He attended  IIT Jodhpur  campus and  the Central University of Rajasthan. Also dedicated to the nation the work of upgrading the infrastructure. He also laid the foundation stone of several road development projects and dedicated two other rail projects including the doubling of the 145 km long Degana-Rai Ka Bagh and 58 km long Degana-Kuchaman City rail lines. Mr Modi   flagged off two new train services in Rajasthan  –  Runicha Express  connecting  Jaisalmer to Delhi  and  a new heritage train  connecting  Marwar Junction to Khambli Ghat.

4 Delhi Metro Rail announces expansion of WhatsApp-based ticketing system on all its metro lines

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation  announced the expansion of WhatsApp-based ticketing system  on  all  its  metro lines . 5 UAE signs an agreement with India to promote digital payments and financial inclusion

NPCI International Payments Limited,  a subsidiary of  National Payments Corporation of India,  and  Al Ittihad Payments, an  indirect subsidiary of  the Central Bank  of  UAE  entered into a historic agreement. Its objective is to  strengthen the RuPay card network of India. The domestic card scheme is to be implemented in UAE in collaboration with. On this occasion in Abu Dhabi, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Sheikh Hamid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority were present. Under the agreement, NPCI International Payments Limited and Al Ittihad Payments will collaborate to design, implement and operate the UAE national card scheme. This aims to create multiple payment options in the UAE, reduce transaction costs and increase global competition in the payments industry. RuPay is India’s secure and widely accepted card payments network. This will serve as the foundation of the UAE’s domestic card scheme. RuPay card has debit, credit and pre-paid facilities.

7 MoU between UAE and India will increase investment and cooperation in industry and advanced technology

9 Sikkim faces flood due to breach in South Lhonak Lake

11 Government declares Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party as an unlawful organization for anti-national and terrorist activities

The government has  declared Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party – JKDFP  illegal  under  the  Unlawful Activities Prevention Act . This organization   has been involved in anti-national activities since 1998 . The Home Ministry said in a release that its members have always been involved in promoting separatism and terrorist activities in India. The release said that the members of the organization want to instigate the people to make Kashmir a separate Islamic state which is a threat to the sovereignty, security and integrity of India. Several criminal cases are registered against this organization under various sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, Indian Penal Code, Arms Act and the main criminal Ranbir Penal Code of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir.

14 New species of fish discovered in Milak river of Nagaland

Recently researchers   have identified  a previously unknown fish species,  Badis limaakumi, in the Milak River of  Nagaland  . The new species has been named after Limakum,  professor of zoology at  Fazal Ali College, Nagaland.  It is named after a unique opercular splotch located near its opercular spines and the absence of spots on its body sides and cleithrum, as well as fewer lateral scales, distinguish it from other fishes. Belonging to the genus Badidae or Badis, a group of freshwater fish often found in slow or moderately flowing streams, this fish is a popular addition to culinary dishes in various regions of India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand and Myanmar. Bihar  ‘s  caste survey  results were released recently. Scheduled Castes (SC) constitute 19.65%, numbering 2,56,89,820. Scheduled Tribes (ST) are a minority with 21,99,361 members representing only 1.68%. The “unreserved” category, often called “forward” castes, comprises 15.52% of the population, totaling 2,02,91,679 persons. According to the survey, the total population of Bihar is 13,07,25,310, which is more than the 2011 census figure of 10.41 crore.

October 5  has   been designated as National Dolphin Day by  the  Union Environment Ministry and will be celebrated annually starting this year.
