1. Food Waste Index Report 2021

The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) published ” Food Waste Index Report, 2021 “. According to this report by UNEP, an estimated 931 million tonnes of food was wasted worldwide in 2019 . This index report was published by UNEP in collaboration with partner organization WRAP. Households account for 61% of this waste, 26% of food services, while retail accounts for 13% . The report also highlights wasting 17 percent of total global food production . In addition, 11 percent of the total food available is wasted in households. Household food waste in India 50 kg per person per yearWhich is equivalent to 68,760,163 tonnes per year. On the other hand, domestic food waste in the US is 59 kilograms per year which is equivalent to 19,359,951 tons per year. This report states that domestic food wastage in China is 64 kilograms per person per year, which is equivalent to 91,646,213 tons a year.
