1.Joint military exercise between India and Sri Lanka to be held from October 4
The eighth edition of ‘ Mitra Shakti ‘, a joint military exercise between India and Sri Lanka , will be held from October 4 to 15. One hundred and twenty armed personnel of the Indian Army will participate in this military exercise along with the battalion of the Sri Lanka Army. The Defense Ministry has said that the objective of the military exercise is to promote closer ties between the armies of the two countries, interoperability progress and sharing of best practices for counter-terrorism and counter-terrorist operations. During this, tactical level exercises will be conducted at the sub-unit level in an international counter-terrorism environment. The military exercise will help in further strengthening the ties between the two South Asian countries. It will act as a catalyst in enhancing synergy and cooperation at the ground level between the two armies.
2.India becomes first country in the world to commercially produce nano urea: Mansukh Mandaviya
Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya has said that India has become the first country in the world to commercially produce Nano Urea . IFFCO , a leading cooperative organization that introduced Nano Urea in the country, successfully conducted a successful trial of spraying Nano Urea through a drone. The test was conducted yesterday in Bhavnagar, Gujarat in the presence of Shri Mandaviya. Shri Mandaviya informed that liquid nano urea will bring economic savings to the farmers, increase productivity and reduce India’s dependence on urea imports.
3.Bangladesh’s ship BNS Somudra Avijan reached Visakhapatnam on a five-day visit
Bangladesh Naval Ship – BNS Somudra Avijan has reached Visakhapatnam on a five-day visit. According to an official release, BNS Somudra Avijan was accorded a traditional welcome by the representatives of the Indian Eastern Naval Command and the Eastern Fleet. BNS Somudra Avijan is on a visit to India to participate in the joint celebrations of the centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee of the Bangladesh Liberation War. During this various activities have been scheduled between the two navies.
4.West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wins Bhawanipur seat by-election
The ruling Trinamool Congress has won all the three assembly seats in West Bengal . Voting for these three seats was held on 30 September. In Bhawanipur by-election , Trinamool Congress candidate Mamata Banerjee defeated her nearest rival Priyanka Tibrewal of BJP by a margin of 58,835 votes. Ms. Banerjee secured 85 thousand 263 votes while Ms. Tibrewal secured 26 thousand 428 votes.
5.The world’s largest tricolor made of Khadi, 225 feet long and 150 feet wide, was unfurled in Leh.
On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in Leh in the Union Territory of Ladakh , the world’s largest tricolor made of Khadi weighing more than one thousand kilograms , two hundred 25 feet long and one hundred and 50 feet wide, was unfurled. This hand-woven tricolor has been prepared by Khadi Diors and Printers based in Mumbai, affiliated to the Khadi Village and Industries Commission .

8.Unique Identification Authority of India opens 55 new Aadhaar Seva Kendras across the country to improve Aadhaar enrollment and data
Unique Identification Authority of India-UIDAI has opened 55 Aadhaar Seva Kendras under 166 Stand-alone Aadhaar Enrollment and Updation Centers scheme in 122 cities across the country. These centers are in addition to the nearly 52,000 Aadhaar enrollment centers run by banks, post offices and state governments. These centers will be open on all days of the week. So far, more than 70 lakh people including differently-abled persons have availed this service from these centres. These centers will remain open from 9 am to 5.30 pm. Aadhaar enrollment is free. A nominal fee of Rs 50 for demographic update and Rs 100 for biometric update with demographic update will have to be paid.

Automotive Skills Development Council ( ASDC ) has appointed automobile industry veteran Vinod Aggarwal as its chairman. Agarwal, who is currently in VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. ( VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd – VECV) is the Managing Director and CEO, succeeding Nikunj Sanghi, who will leave ASDC after serving for four years. ASDC was established over a decade ago and is promoted by apex industry associations – SIAM, ACMA and FADA – along with the Central Government and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). It is a sector skill council for the auto industry, which aims to make the country self-reliant for the development and competitiveness of the automotive industry.
11.IFSCA constitutes an expert panel on sustainable finance
International Financial Services Center Authority ( International Financial Services Authority Centres – IFSCA ) the IFSC in Sustainable Finance Hub ( Sustainable Finance Hub has set up an expert committee to recommend an approach towards development). The expert committee was headed by C.K. Mishra (CK Mishra), Former Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The committee consists of a total of 10 members including the chairman and the member secretary. The committee will study the existing regulatory practices in sustainable finance in major international financial jurisdictions and recommend a robust framework for developing a world-class sustainable finance center in IFSC, along with a road map for the same. IFSCA was established by the Ministry of Finance on 27 April 2020 as the unified regulator of all financial products, financial services and financial institutions in International Financial Services Centers (IFSCs) in India. Its headquarter is at GIFT city in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Wole Shoyinka is Africa’s first Nobel laureate in literature. He wrote his last novel “Season of Anomy” in 1973. He is returning after almost 50 years with a new novel. 13.NSDL appoints Padmaja Chandru as MD and CEO

14.Election Commission bans the use of LJP’s election symbol till the dispute between Chirag Paswan and Pashupati Paras is resolved
The Election Commission has banned the use of Lok Janshakti Party- LJP ‘s election symbol till the dispute between Chirag Paswan and Pashupati Paras faction is resolved. In an order issued by the commission, the Commission has said that the use of the party’s name – LJP and the election symbol – Bangla by both the factions is prohibited till the dispute between the conflicting factions is resolved. The commission has said that separate election symbols will be issued to both the factions. Both the factions can choose from the symbols notified by the Election Commission for the by-elections to the two constituencies of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. The Election Commission has said that both the factions will choose different names for themselves. These names may be associated with the mother organization – Lok Janshakti Party.

Olympic bronze medalist Indian hockey player Rupinder Pal Singh has announced his retirement from international hockey to make way for young and talented players . The 30-year-old Rupinder represented the Indian hockey team in 223 matches in his career spanning 13 years. Rupinder was part of the bronze medal winning Indian hockey team at the 2020 Summer Tokyo Olympics held in July-August 2021.

He became the first boxer to win a lineal championship in five different weight categories and the only boxer to hold a world championship in four different decades.
