1 UNESCO declared ‘Garba of Gujarat’ as intangible cultural heritage.

 UNESCO included  ‘ Garba of Gujarat ‘ in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (ICH)  under the provisions of the 2003 Convention during the 18th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee  for the Safeguarding of the  Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH). This meeting   started on December 5  in  Kasane, Botswana and will continue till December 9, 2023.  Garba dance of Gujarat is the 15th Indian Heritage (ICH) to be included in this list  . This achievement underlines the important role of Garba as a unifying force promoting social and gender inclusivity. Garba as a dance form is deeply rooted in religious and devotional practices, involving people from all walks of life. Garba is growing into a vibrant tradition that brings communities together. This achievement highlights the commitment and efforts of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India towards the protection, promotion and preservation of our intangible cultural heritage. India was selected to be part of the 24-member Intergovernmental Committee (IGC) of the ICH 2003 Convention for a tenure of 4 years in 2022. Along with India, this year’s Intergovernmental Committee (IGC) includes Angola, Bangladesh, Botswana, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Czechia, Ethiopia, Germany, Malaysia, Mauritania, Morocco, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Korea Republic, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

2 New report of World Meteorological Organization regarding climate change comes out

 A new report by  the World Meteorological Organization  regarding  climate change, The Decadal State of the Climate 2011-2020,  has come out. The organization has announced that  42 large-sized glaciers have melted  . The Global Glacier Monitoring Service was monitoring the movements of this naturally occurring phenomenon.  The World Meteorological Organization’s report at the ongoing  COP-28 conference in Dubai  stated that  the period between 2011 and 2020  was the hottest. Expressing concern, the report also said that the global temperature has increased by one point one – zero degrees Celsius above the average of the pre-industrial period. At the same time, in the decade 2011-2020, excessive rainfall was recorded in North-West India, Pakistan, China and the southern coast of the Arabian Peninsula.

3 Captain Geetika becomes the first woman medical officer of Siachen

 Captain  Geetika Kaul of Snow Leopard Brigade  has created history by becoming the first woman medical officer of the Indian Army  to be deployed in  Siachen  , the world’s highest battlefield  . Earlier he had successfully completed induction training at the prestigious Siachen Battle School.

4. Delhi University ranked first in India in QS World University Sustainability Rankings

Vice Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh  expressed happiness over Delhi University  getting   the  first position in India  in  the QS World University Sustainability Rankings . In the review meeting held at Delhi University, the Vice Chancellor said that this is a matter of pride for all of us. In the ranking, Delhi University  has been ranked 220th worldwide  , while in India it has been ranked first. Overall  , the University of Toronto  has secured the first rank in this list.  The University of California Berkeley (UCB)  is at the second position while  the University of Manchester  has got the third position. A total of 95 countries and 1397 institutions are included in the QS World University Rankings. The performance of universities is evaluated on three parameters: environmental impact, social impact and governance.

5 Government of India and Asian Development Bank have signed a $175 million loan agreement to improve road connectivity and mobility in Madhya Pradesh

The Government of India  and  the Asian Development Bank  have   signed a $175 million loan agreement  to  improve road connectivity and mobility  in  Madhya Pradesh . Under this project, about  500 km  of  state highways and major district roads will be upgraded to standard two-lane facility  . This   will include climate, disaster-resilient design and innovative road safety . The project will help in formulating strategy and plan for using green technology in road construction and setting up charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. The project will also conduct livelihood and entrepreneurship training programs for women and girls and build at least two roadside markets.

6 Union Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt participated in the ministerial meeting of United Nations Peacekeeping 2023 in Ghana’s capital Accra

Union Minister of State for Defense  Ajay Bhatt  participated   in the ministerial meeting of United Nations Peacekeeping 2023  in  Accra, the capital of Ghana . Addressing this meeting, Shri Bhatt   underlined the challenges faced by peacekeepers in the present times and the role of women in peacekeeping. On this occasion, Shri Bhatt also announced India’s commitments to UN peacekeeping operations. India has been a leading military contributor to UN peacekeeping efforts. According to the Defense Ministry, in the last seven decades, India has contributed more than 2 lakh 75 thousand soldiers in 53 different operations.

The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh organized a seminar on   ” A Tale of Friendship: 52 years of India’s recognition of Bangladesh ” in Dhaka  on Wednesday  . 6 December is celebrated as ‘ Friendship Day ‘  marking the recognition given by India to Bangladesh  in  1971. In his address as the chief guest on the occasion, Home Minister of Bangladesh  Asaduzzaman Khan  thanked India for the support given to the people of Bangladesh during the liberation war in 1971. He said that without India’s active support the war of liberation could not have been won in just 9 months. India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh   is Pranay Verma .

8 China becomes first country to grant diplomatic status to Bilal Karimi, the official nominated by Taliban as ambassador to Afghanistan

China  has become the first country to grant diplomatic status  to  Bilal Karimi, the Taliban-  nominated official   as   Afghanistan  ‘s ambassador . In this way it has formally recognized the legitimacy of the Taliban-run government in Kabul. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said his country believes Afghanistan should not be excluded from the international community.

9 UAE appoints Mohammed Al Ramsi as President of the World Radiocommunication Conference-WRC 2023

The United Arab Emirates  has   appointed Mohammed Al Ramsi  as  the President of the World Radiocommunication Conference-WRC 2023 . This conference  started from 20th November and  will continue till 15th December. The World Radiocommunication Conference  is convened by the International Telecommunication Union every four years  to revise the global use of the radio frequency spectrum for geostationary satellites and non-geostationary satellites in orbit. This year, more than four thousand government officials and nine hundred international organizations from 193 countries are participating in the conference.

10. In the first phase of Mission Shakti Yojana, it will be implemented in Assam and Jammu and Kashmir.

Union Women and Child Development Minister  Smriti Irani  said in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha that the government has   decided to implement the Nari Adalat program  in a phased manner under  the Mission Shakti scheme . Mrs. Irani said that Assam  and Union Territory  of Jammu and Kashmir  have been selected to implement it in the first phase. In Jammu and Kashmir, it is being implemented in two aspirational districts – Kupwara and Baramulla, while in Assam, it is being implemented in seven districts – Barpeta, Goalpara, South Salmara Mankachar, Udalguri, Darrang, Morigaon and Kamrup. Mrs. Irani informed that 100% funds have been released to Jammu and Kashmir and Assam for Nari Adalat implementation during the financial year 2023-24 as per the cost determined under Mission Shakti guidelines. The Central Government is implementing Mission Shakti Yojana for the safety, security and empowerment of women. The Government is committed to accelerating women-led development by addressing issues affecting women and making them equal partners in nation-building. Under Mission Shakti, approximately Rs 3 thousand 144 crore has been allocated in the financial year 2023-24.

11 India will provide immediate relief assistance of one million dollars to Papua New Guinea affected by volcanic eruption

India   has announced to provide immediate relief assistance of one million dollars to Papua New Guinea  in   the wake of  volcanic eruption . On the 20th of last month,  a massive volcanic eruption at Mount Ulawun in Papua New Guinea  led to the evacuation of more than 26 thousand people, creating urgent humanitarian needs. India, as a close friend and development partner under the Forum on India-Pacific Islands Cooperation, has extended immediate relief assistance to support relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in Papua New Guinea. Disaster risk reduction and management is an important pillar of India’s Indian Pacific Ocean Initiative. This was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2019.

12 Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya launches nationwide public awareness campaign on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) awareness program by NBEMS

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister  Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya  said that it is important that  in case of heart attack, the patient  should get immediate treatment, hence  awareness and necessary training for CPR  is very important. He said this   while launching a nationwide public awareness program organized by the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS)  on  CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training . On this occasion, both Ministers of State of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Professor SP Singh Baghel and Dr. Bharti Praveen Pawar were also present. More than 20 lakh people participated in this nationwide campaign today. This is the first CPR awareness program in the country, which has been conducted at the national level.

13 Increase in India’s manufacturing PMI

After eight months  of  slow growth through October  , the manufacturing sector in India  showed some signs of pick-up in November, with  the S&P Global India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI)  rising to 56 from 55.5 . However, growth in export orders was the slowest since June. S&P Global compiles PMI data for more than 40 economies around the world. The PMI dataset consists of a headline number that indicates the overall health of an economy and sub-indices that provide insight into other key economic drivers such as gross domestic product, inflation, exports, capacity utilization, employment and inventories. Is. The headline PMI is a number between 0 and 100. A PMI above 50 indicates expansion of the economy compared to the previous month. A PMI less than 50 indicates contraction, while 50 indicates stability.

14 ‘fake MNREGA job cards removed’

More than 10 lakh job cards have been removed due to  ‘ fake job cards ‘ under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS)  in the last two financial years 2021-22 and 2022-23  . According to Section 25 of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005  , whoever contravenes the provisions of this Act shall, on being found guilty, be liable to fine which may extend to one thousand rupees. The highest number of fake job cards have been removed in Uttar Pradesh in 2021-22 and 2022-23, followed by Madhya Pradesh. MNREGA was launched by the Ministry of Rural Development to guarantee 100 days of employment every financial year to adult members of any rural household willing to do unskilled manual work related to public works.

ISRO  and  Chandrayaan-3 team  were recently  honored with the  “ Outstanding Contribution to Brand India ” award at the 19th India Business Leader Awards (IBLA)  held in  Mumbai on December 2. In a historic moment on August 23, India’s Chandrayaan-3 achieved a remarkable lunar landing, making India the first country to reach the lunar south pole.

16 License of Kolhapur-based Shankarrao Pujari Nutan Nagari Co-operative Bank canceled

The Reserve Bank of India  took major action against a bank and canceled its license. The bank whose license has been canceled is  Shankarrao Pujari Nutan Nagari Cooperative Bank Limited,  based in  Kolhapur, Maharashtra  . RBI has taken this step because the bank does not have sufficient capital and means of earning. RBI has ordered the bank to close all types of business from December 4, 2023.

17 Hump World War II Museum unveiled in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh

The Hump Second World War Museum,  dedicated to  the martyred airmen of the Allied forces  during  the Second World War ,  was inaugurated on November 29  in a poignant ceremony held at   Pasighat  , the district  headquarters of East Siang  in  Arunachal Pradesh . The Hump Second World War Museum  pays tribute to the aviators who   navigated the dangerous air route between north-eastern Assam and Yunnan in China , nicknamed ‘ The Hump ‘. The air route got its nickname because of the formidable challenges faced by Allied pilots flying from airfields in Assam to airfields in Yunnan. Navigating through deep valleys and mountains rising more than 10,000 feet, these pilots played a vital role in the war effort, making dangerous trips to transport supplies such as fuel, food, and ammunition.

18 Bharti Airtel eighth company to cross ₹6 lakh crore mcap

Bharti Airtel  ,  one of India’s leading telecom companies,   achieved a significant milestone on December 4 by becoming the 8th company  to cross  Rs 6 lakh crore . The upbeat market sentiment was reflected in the overall stock market, with Bharat Airtel shares rising an additional 2% on Monday, taking its year-to-date gain to an impressive 28%.

19 Bajaj becomes the fifth corporate house to join the club with market cap of Rs lakh crore

Bajaj Group  has   crossed the Rs 10 lakh crore mark in terms of market cap  amid the storm in the stock market on  December 4 . With this, Bajaj Group   has become the fifth business house to join the ten lakh crore club . Tata Group, Reliance Group, HDFC Bank and Adani Group are already included in this club. Let us tell you that so far this year, Bajaj Auto has contributed the most to the combined valuation of the group by adding about Rs 75,000 crore.

21 Sheetal Devi received the Best Young Athlete Award in the  APC Conference

Indian  para archer  Sheetal Devi   emerged victorious by securing the coveted title of Best Young Athlete  at   the fourth edition of the Asian Awards  in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) . The Asian Awards, organized by the Asian Paralympic Committee, is a ceremony dedicated to honoring the outstanding achievements of Asian Para athletes and officials. Devi’s remarkable performance at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games in October played a crucial role in earning her the prestigious award. 22 Men’s Volleyball Club World Championship begins in Bengaluru

FIVB The Men’s Club Volleyball World Championship 2023   began at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium  in  Bengaluru . This prestigious tournament  is being  organized in India for the first time . Six teams will participate in this five-day long competition.
