2.India welcomes Egypt as the fourth member of the New Development Bank of the BRICS organization

India has welcomed Egypt as the fourth new member of the New Development Bank of the BRICS organization . Bangladesh, UAE and Uruguay are already members of this bank. The objective of this bank is to create resources for development projects in the member countries of the BRICS organization and to support the emerging economies of developing countries. The president of the NDB is Marcos Troyjo.

3.According to CEBR, India will surpass France in 2022 to become the third largest economy in 2031

4.Arunachal Pradesh applies for demand of GI tag for Apatani textile product

Recently a firm has applied for demand of Geographical Indication (GI) tag for Arunachal Pradesh Apatani textile product . The Apatani weavers belong to the Apatani tribe of Arunachal Pradesh who live in the Ziro Valley , the headquarters of Lower Subansiri district . Apatani communities weave their own clothes for various occasions including rituals and cultural festivals. The fabric woven by the people of this tribe is also known for its geometric and zigzag patterns and angular designs. This tribe mainly weaves shawls known as zig zero and jilan or jacket which is called supuntari.is called. The people here use resources like various leaves and plants to mold the cotton yarn into organic form in their traditional ways. Only women are engaged in this traditional weaving work. The traditional handloom of this tribe is a type of loom called Chichin and is similar to the traditional handloom of the Nishi tribe. It is portable, easy to set up and operated by a single weaver exclusively female members of the community.

5.Vikram Misri appointed ‘Deputy National Security Advisor’ in ‘National Security Council Secretariat’

6.India’s GDP growth is estimated to be nine percent in the current and next financial year-ICRA.

Credit Rating Agency KIC ra said that the current and next financial year in India’s gross product growth rate of nine per cent is forecast. The economy grew at 8.04 per cent in the second quarter of the current fiscal amid concerns stemming from Omicron. In the first quarter from April to June, it was 20 decimal one percent. The agency’s chief economist Aditi Nair has predicted that there will be a significant expansion of economic activity in the next financial year as compared to the current fiscal.

7.Jharkhand government gives relief of Rs 25 per liter in petrol price for two wheelers

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has poor and middle-income two-wheeler to those in petrol prices by Rs 25 relief per liter announced. Beneficiaries will start getting this benefit on petrol from January 26 next year. Shri Soren said this in a public meeting organized at Morhabadi Maidan in Ranchi on the occasion of completion of two years tenure of the State Government. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of several projects. On this occasion, Mr. Soren also distributed assets worth Rs. 1500 crore to the beneficiaries.

8.Indian Army set up quantum laboratory in Mhow (Madhya Pradesh)

The Indian Army is making steady and significant progress in the emerging technology domain. National Security Council Secretariat (NSC) of military cooperation of the recent technologies of major developing area of research and training in Mhow (MP) of the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering Msitii in quantum laboratory is established. Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane was informed about this during his recent visit to Mhow. The Indian Army has set up an Artificial Intelligence (AI) center in the same institute.It has also established over 140 recruitments in key areas with active support from industry and academia. Here training on cyber warfare is being imparted through state-of-the-art cyber range and cyber security laboratories. At a symposium on the electromagnetic spectrum and national security in October last year, consideration was given to the military’s involvement in the electromagnetic spectrum operations. Since then, Indian Army Institutes of Technology are being encouraged to invest in AI, Quantum and Cyber.

9.User data and call record keeping period at least two years

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) recently ordered telecom companies and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to maintain commercial and call detail records for at least two years, citing security reasons . This amendment in the ‘ Unified License Agreement ‘ has been done on the request of national security agencies. Earlier the period for storing call data and internet usage records of customers was only one year. Internet service providers will be required to maintain Internet telephony details along with IP details records for a period of two years.

10.PETA: Alia Bhatt India’s 2021 Person of the Year

11.Government of India appoints Atul Kumar Goel as new MD and CEO of PNB

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of UCO Bank MD and CEO Atul Kumar Goel as MD and CEO of Punjab National Bank (PNB) with effect from February 1 next year . Goyal will serve as PNB head till December 31, 2024, which is his retirement age. Goyal will succeed Mallikarjuna Rao , the current MD and CEO of PNB . Rao was given an extension of three months which will end on January 31, 2022. Meanwhile, ACC has appointed Soma Shankar Prasad , who is currently Deputy Managing Director in State Bank of India, as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at UCO Bank .

12.COVID: Delhi government’s colour-coded action plan

As the COVID-19 positivity rate continues to rise in Delhi , there is a strong possibility that the Graded Response Action Plan will come into force. The positivity rate was 0.55% on 26 December 2021. Under the colour-coded action plan , the level of restrictions in markets, offices, industries, and public transport will be determined based on the Covid-19 test positivity rate, new active cases. The colour-coded action plan was notified in August 2021. The plan states that the sanctions will be based on three parameters-

  1. positivity rate
  2. cumulative active cases
  3. Arrangement of oxygen beds in hospitals

The restrictions under the scheme have been classified under four alerts Yellow, Amber, Orange and Red Alert. Yellow is the lowest level of alert while red is the highest level. Red alert will bring Delhi under complete lockdown.

13.NASA’s ‘Psyche Mission’

NASA ‘s Psyche mission will be launched in August 2022 . This will be the first launch to explore a giant metallic asteroid named Psyche in the main asteroid belt . This asteroid ‘Psyche’ is between Mars and Jupiter and is orbiting the Sun. The Psyche mission is one of two NASA missions to explore the early Solar System. The ‘ Lucy mission ‘ is another mission to explore Jupiter’s Trojan asteroids to study the early solar system . NASA’s ‘Psyche mission’ is the first mission that will be launched to search for a unique giant metallic asteroid named Psyche. lead the missionbeing conducted by Arizona State University . Mission management, navigation and operations will be performed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory . The mission was selected in 2017 as one of two missions to explore the early solar system. The mission will be launched from Kennedy Space Center, Florida in August 2022 and will arrive at the asteroid Psyche in 2026.

HDFC Bank has been nominated under the ‘ Most Innovative Best Practices ‘ at the prestigious Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Digital Transformation Award 2021 or CII DX Award 2021 . It will be recognized for HDFC’s efforts in world-class financial inclusion at Village Level Executive (VLE) Centers along with Common Service Centers (CSCs) of Government of India.

16.Nitesh Kumar wins double gold in 4th Para-Badminton National Championship

Nitesh Kumar said Orissa in Bhubaneswar concluded in fourth para-badminton national championships in two gold won. Haryana’s Nitesh along with his partner Tarun Dhillon defeated world number one Paralympic Games gold medalists Pramod Bhagat and Manoj Sarkar 21-19, 21-11 in straight sets in the men’s doubles final to win the gold medal. Earlier, Nitesh had also won a gold medal in the men’s singles category. World number one SL3 para-badminton player Parul Parmar of Gujarat also won gold, while Mandeep Kaur of Uttarakhand won silver and Mansi won bronze.

17.Zhiyuan-1 02E : China’s New Earth Observation Satellite

18.Japan launches Inmarsat-6 F1 communication satellite

Japan has launched a communications satellite Inmarsat-6 F1 via a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) H-IIA204 rocket from Tanegashima Space Center in Japan, about 22,240 miles (35,790 kilometers) above Earth. will enter geostationary orbit. It has been developed by London-based company Inmarsat as part of its next generation satellite broadband service. The satellite weighs 12,060 pounds (5,470 kg) and is the first of two ‘I-6’ spacecraft.

19.Mohammed Shami becomes India’s fifth fast bowler to take 200 wickets in Test cricket

Taylor, 80, the creator of toys such as the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe franchise as well as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles , has died. Taylor began her career as a packaging designer with Mattel in 1976. He-Man was the muscular frontman for toy maker Mattel’s Masters of the Universe franchise. He-Man was the epitome of a Hawking superhero warrior, but also became an icon within the LGBTQ+ community.
