1.President of Mexico proposes names of PM Modi, UN Secretary General and Pope Francis for World Peace Commission

Mexican President Andre Manuel López Obrador has appointed Prime Minister Narendra Modi , UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Pope Francis ‘ three-member commission for global peace .has been proposed. Mr. Obrador is considering submitting a written proposal to the United Nations to set up this commission. Efforts will be made to prevent war all over the world through the Global Peace Commission. The President of Mexico said that the aim of the commission is to ensure a ceasefire for at least five years. He said that this step will help governments across the world to provide relief to their citizens, especially those who are suffering from the ravages of war. Calling for an end to war and war-like actions, the Mexican president has called on China, Russia and the United States for peace-building measures. He expressed the hope that these three countries would pay heed to his proposal and other such arbitration measures.

2.Justice Uday Umesh Lalit to be the 49th Chief Justice of India

President Draupadi Murmu has appointed Justice Uday Umesh Lalit as the 49th Chief Justice of the country. Justice Lalit will assume office on August 27. The current Chief Justice Justice NV Ramana will retire on August 26. Justice Uday Umesh Lalit was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court in August 2014. Justice Lalit has served as a member of the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee for two terms. Born on November 9, 1957 in Solapur, Maharashtra, Justice Lalit was registered as an advocate by the Maharashtra and Goa Bar Council in June, 1983. He practiced in the Bombay High Court till December 1985, before moving to Delhi in January 1986.

3.PM Narendra Modi inaugurates second generation ethanol plant at Panipat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 2G Ethanol Plant at Panipat , Haryana through video conferenceDedicated to the nation. The plant is in line with the various measures taken by the government to promote the production and use of biofuels in the country, which is in line with efforts to make the energy sector more accessible, efficient and efficient. This second generation ethanol plant has been built by Oil Corporation of India Limited at a cost of over Rs 900 crore. This project will add a new chapter to India’s efforts to produce ‘Waste to Kanchan’. Under this, 30 million liters of ethanol can be made annually from about two lakh tonnes of straw and it will also help in reducing the emission of greenhouse gases equivalent to about three lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide. Ethanol is one of the major biofuels, It is naturally produced by fermentation of sugars through petrochemical processes such as yeast or ethylene hydration. Mixing ethanol with gasoline can reduce the amount of gasoline needed to drive a car, thereby reducing dependence on imported expensive and polluting petroleum. Ethanol is a relatively low polluting fuel that offers similar efficiency at a lower cost than petrol.

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar launched Lumpi-Provac vaccine, an indigenous vaccine to protect livestock from skin diseases . This vaccine has been developed by the National Horse Research Center in Hisar , Haryana . The Indian Veterinary Research Institute , Ijatnagar , Bareilly , has collaborated in this research. On this occasion, Shri Tomar described this vaccine as a milestone in the eradication of lumpi disease. He said that in this research, scientists have developed 100% effective vaccine following all the standards. This vaccine will be effective in getting rid of lumpy disease.

5.Nitish Kumar takes oath as Chief Minister of Bihar and Tejashwi Yadav takes oath as Deputy Chief Minister

Nitish Kumar , the leader of Janata Dal United , was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the eighth time . Governor Fagu Chauhan administered the oath of office to him in a simple ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in Patna . Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejaswi Prasad Yadav also took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister for the second time. Congress, Hindustani Awam Morcha and Left parties have extended support to the Grand Alliance government in Bihar. Before resigning, Nitish Kumar announced his separation from the NDA and staked claim to form a new government with the support of 164 MLAs. These include Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress, Left Party and Hindustani Awam Morcha.

The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of an Audio-Visual Co-Production Treaty between India and Australia to promote co-production of films . Under such agreements, the government and private companies can cooperate with each other in the production of films. The proposed agreement will further enhance India’s relations with Australia. This will lead to exchange of art and culture between the two countries and employment opportunities will be created in this sector. India has so far signed 15 such agreements with other countries of the world.

7.The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal to ratify the 11th Additional Protocol on the formation of the Universal Postal Union.

The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for ratification of the Eleventh Additional Protocol on the formation of the Universal Postal Union . This approval will enable the Department of Posts to obtain a deed of ratification signed by the President and submit it to the Director General of the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union. This would fulfill the obligations arising from Articles 25 and 30 of the Constitution of the Union, which provide for the reinstatement of amendments to the Constitution adopted by Congress as soon as possible by member states. Amendments to the Constitution adopted by the 27th Congress of the Union ensure more legal clarity and consistency to the Acts of the Union.

8.Election Commission to organize virtual meeting of Asian Regional Forum in New Delhi

The Election Commission will organize a virtual meeting of the Asian Regional Forum in New Delhi . This meeting is being organized on the theme of making elections inclusive, accessible and participatory. This meeting of the forum will be followed by the Global Summit for Democracy next month. The conference will be organized by the National Electoral Institute of Mexico . The purpose of global summits and regional forum meetings is to foster synergy between international organizations and the world’s electoral bodies and to promote intellectual and institutional solidarity to strengthen electoral democracy in the world. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anoop Chandra PandeyHe will preside over the meeting of the Asian Regional Forum. The meeting will be attended by representatives of election management bodies from Mexico, Mauritius, Philippines, Nepal, Uzbekistan and Maldives. Representatives from the World Association of Election Bodies and the International Electoral System Establishment will also attend the meeting.

The Center has decided to remove the fare limit on air tickets from 31st of this month . The airfares limit was fixed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in May 2020 . Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said in a tweet that the decision has been taken after careful analysis of the daily demand and prices of air turbine fuel. He said the situation in the aviation sector is stabilizing and the government is confident that the sector is poised to increase domestic traffic in the near future. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has said in its order that airlines and operators will have to ensure that the guidelines related to preventing the spread of Kovid-19 are strictly followed.

10.Uttar Pradesh government’s scheme for free travel in state transport buses for women above 60 years of age

The Uttar Pradesh government will very soon provide free travel to women above 60 years of age in government buses . Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given this information in a tweet. This facility was announced in the party’s election manifesto. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, women in the state can travel for free in government buses for 48 hours i.e. between midnight of August 10 and midnight of August 12. UPSRTC buses will also have national flags and stickers under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’.

11.ISRO launched the first flight of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)

Recently, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched the first flight of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) carrying the Earth observation satellite EOS-02 and the student-built satellite Azadisat (AzaadiSAT) . However, the mission failed to place the satellites in their designated orbits and the satellites which had already separated from the launch vehicle lost contact. The Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) is a three-stage launch vehicle configured as a terminal stage with three solid propulsion stages and a liquid propulsion-based Velocity Trimming Module (VTM) . SSLV is 2 meters in diameter and 34 meters in length, with a weight of about 120 tonnes. SSLV500 km from Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC) . 500 kg satellites in a plane orbital plane of altitudeable to launch. The first EOS-2 earth-observing satellite, it is an earth observation satellite designed and implemented by ISRO. This Microsat satellite series provides advanced optical remote sensing operating in the infra-red band with high spatial resolution. The second, Azadisat student satellite, is an 8U CubeSat that weighs about 8 kg. It carries 75 different payloads weighing about 50 grams and carries out femto-experiments. It carried small experiments that could measure ionizing radiation in its orbit, and a transponder that worked at ham radio frequencies to enable operators to access it. Girl students from rural areas across the country were provided guidance for manufacturing these payloads. The payload has been integrated by a team of students from “Space Kids India”.

Recently, NITI Aayog member VK . Saraswat suggested the government to focus on setting up Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) India’s energy needs with this moveIt will help in the completion and replacement of thermal power plants. VK Saraswat also suggested expediting nuclear power plant projects set up under fleet mode production to meet India’s base load requirements at the earliest. Small modular reactors will help to meet the requirements in a distributed manner. Small modular reactors are advanced nuclear reactors with a power capacity of 300 MW per unit. This is equivalent to 1/3 of the production capacity of conventional nuclear power reactors. The nuclear plant is likely to be built under Fleet Mode over a period of 5 years. An important aspect of an advanced nuclear reactor is that it is factory fabricated. It can be operated by any agency. Thus, it will attract greater participation from the private sector.

14.Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announces 100% NEP implementation in higher education

Goa Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant has announced that the state government will implement the National Education Policy (NEP) for complete curriculum in higher education institutions on the lines of the National Education Policy (NEP). The implementation of NEP has started from college to university level. From the next academic year, 100% of the curriculum in higher education institutions will be online with NEP. Sawant also talked about the skill of manpower. He confirmed that Goa has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with around 35 industry associations in the state which will work on skill development. The Chief Minister also mentioned the requirement of two lakh manpower in the hospitality industry in the next five years. The manpower will be trained by the government.
