1.Earth-bound orbit of India’s 2nd lunar mission Chandrayaan-2 further raised:-

The earth-bound orbit of India’s second lunar mission Chandrayaan-2 has further been raised early this morning, in preparation of its journey to the South Pole of the moon. The ISRO team carried out the orbit-raising manoeuvre early this morning, at 01.08 hrs. It was accomplished by burning the engine onboard the aircraft for 14 minutes, 43 seconds. The national space agency has said, all spacecraft parameters are normal. This is the second such manoeuvre since its launch on the 22nd of this month, the first being done on Wednesday. With today’s operation, the spacecraft’s orbit has been increased by a total of 9354 kilometres at the farthest point from the earth, as compared to its initial ion during the launch. Three more such manoeuvres are being planned by the ISRO during the earth-centric phase of Chandrayaan-2, the next being in the afternoon on the 29th of this month. On 14thAugust, it is planned to nudge the spacecraft away from its earth-centric orbit to begin its trans-lunar trajectory. Before soft-landing on the moon, Chandrayaan-2 will require a total of fifteen such manoeuvres, as said by ISRO.

2.Budget session of Parliament extended till August 7:-

The Budget session of Parliament has been extended till August 7, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi informed in Lok Sabha today.Sources said, the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs met in New Delhi this evening and took a decision in this regard.

3.Triple Talaq Bill passed in Lok Sabha:-

The Lok Sabha today passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage), Bill, 2019 commonly known as Triple Talaq bill by voice vote.Replying to the debate on the Bill, Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said it was important to bring in a law banning instant triple talaq as the practice has continued despite a Supreme Court verdict passed in 2017.Mr Prasad said, despiteSupreme Court’s direction against the Triple Talaq, the practice is still continuing in different parts of the country. Several hundred cases have been reported. He clarified that the Bill is not against any community or religion and it should not be seen through the lense of politics. Mr Prasad said, the bill is aimed at providing  justice equality and dignity to Muslim women.Mr Prasad said that many evils among Hindus, such as sati and dowry, were brought under the penal law. The minister said if Prophet Mohammed spoke against the practice, then why are we still not against itHe said that the Bill is banned in many countries, and it is not a way to appease vote banks. He said that Muslim women have come to him and told him that after this law comes to be, they will celebrate Eid and Independence Day on that day.Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury opposed the penal provision , saying the Supreme Court never asked the government to introduce penal provisions.  He said Present laws are sufficient.N K Premchandran of RSP questioned the intent of the  Bill.He said the bill is intended to target a particular community. He said the government is citing minority  judgement of the Supreme Court to justify such legislation . He also questioned the government for taking ordinance route in this regard.Meenakshi lekhi of BJP supported the bill saying that the bill intends of ensure rights of the muslim women.BJD supported the bill while NDA ally JD(U) opposed the bill. Congress, TMC, DMK, BSP and JD(U) walked out in protest.

4.President, Vice Prez & PM pay tribute to the martyrs of Kargil War:-

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the martyrs of Kargil War on the 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.In a tweet, Mr Kovind said, a grateful nation acknowledges the gallantry of Armed Forces on the heights of Kargil in 1999. The President said, the country salutes the grit and valour of those who defended India, and record its everlasting debt to those who never returned.On the 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu paid respects to the brave soldiers of Indian Army who made ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty to protect nation. In a tweet, Mr Naidu saluted all the heroes of the Kargil war and Operation Vijay who secured a valiant victory on 26th of July, 1999.On Kargil Vijay Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to the brave soldiers of Indian Army who laid down their lives protecting their motherland. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, the day reminds us of the courage, bravery and dedication of our soldiers. The Prime Minister also shared on twitter some photographs of his Kargil visit in 1999 and described his interaction with soldiers as unforgettable. He said, during the Kargil War, he had the opportunity to go to Kargil and show solidarity with brave soldiers. Mr Modi said, he was working for his Party in Jammu and Kashmir as well as Himachal Pradesh at the time.

Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has said that clear intent and change in norms adopted by the political establishment and the Indian Army have sent a loud and clear message to Pakistan.Referring to the surgical strikes and the air strikes, Army Chief warned that the action will be repeated, if Pakistan continues to support proxy war against India.Speaking to AIR correspondent in Drass, General Rawat said that time has arrived to propose Integrated Battle Group concepts to the government.Army Chief said, that integration of 3 armed forces during the peace time provides better coordination and yields results. Integration of a special operation division along with Space division and Cyber agency are going to be in IBGs, to take on the future challenges.Commenting on the security scenario in Kashmir, General Rawat said, after stern action terrorism has come down.

6.US urges North Korea to refrain from further provocation:-

The United States has urged North Korea to refrain from further provocation after Pyongyang test-fired two new short-range ballistic missiles. US State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus told reporters in Washington yesterday that the USA still hoped for resumption of talks on North Korea’s denuclearisation. The spokesperson also urged the North Korean government to resolve all the issues discussed between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un through diplomacy. Recently, North Korea warned that the talks with USA could be derailed if it refuses to scrap military exercise scheduled with South Korea for next month. Pyongyang carried out similar short-range launches in May. Trump dismissed those tests as standard stuff that would have no impact on his relationship with Kim.

7.Indian embassy in Tehran gets consular access to 18 Indian nationals on board British vessel seized by Iran last week:-

The Indian embassy in Tehran has got the consular access to 18 Indian nationals who were on board the British vessel Stena Impero which was seized by Iran last week. Minister of State in External Affairs, V Muraleedharan in a tweet, last evening said, the Indian crew members are safe and doing fine. He said, the government will continue to push for early release of detained Indian nationals.The British oil tanker was seized last week by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps in the Strait of Hormuz for alleged violation of international maritime rules. Earlier, in another tweet, Mr Muraleedharan informed that a team of the Indian High Commission in London met the 24 Indian crew members and staff who were on board shipping vessel ‘Grace 1’.The Iranian oil tanker ‘Grace 1’ was seized by the British marines and Gibraltar police authorities off the Spanish coast earlier this month. The Minister said, the crew’s morale is high and assured all assistance for their early release. He said, Indian High Commission in London will facilitate necessary travel document and related arrangements.

In Japan Open Badminton tournament, Olympic silver medallist P.V. Sindhu and B. Sai Praneeth will play their singles quarterfinal matches in Tokyo today.In the women’s singles, fifth seed Sindhu will face Japanese Akane Yamaguchi. Sai Praneeth will take on Indonesia’s Tommy Sugiarto in the men’s singles last-eight round. In the men’s doubles event, the pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will also play the quarterfinal today against second seeded local combination of Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda. Malinga is the fastest bowler to take 50 wickets in the World Cup. He did this amazing in 26 matches.

Paring early gains in a volatile market, benchmark Domestic indices today closed almost flat even as cues from global stocks were positive.Falling for the sixth straight session, Sensex and Nifty, both, fell marginally.Sensex at Bombay Stock Exchange slipped 17 points to settle at 37,831. Nifty at National Stock Exchange also ended down by 19 points at 11,252.

Watersup in preparation for launch of payment service this year
