1.Justice Deepak Mishra sworn in as the new chief justice of the country :-

Justice JS Khehar retired as Chief Justice on Sunday and Justice Deepak Mishra was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of India on Monday. The decision of both the chief judges to come and visit is a milestone in terms of importance.

3.Government bans import of gold, silver items from South Korea :-

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in the Union Commerce Ministry has banned duty free imports of gold, silver items from South Korea.

These restrictions were imposed against the backdrop of sudden surge in imports of precious metals from South Korea, with which India has a free trade agreement (FTA) since January 2010.

 

4.India beat Sri Lanka in third match, win ODI series :-

The third ODI was played between India and Sri Lanka. In this match, the Indian team defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets and captured the series of five one-dayers.

Batting first in winning the toss in the third ODI, the hosts scored 217 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. India got the target of 218 runs to win this match.

 

5.Hurricane storm hits US :-

In the US, ‘Harvey’ storm has caused a huge catastrophe. There is frequent rains in Texas and Houston. There are strong winds in the coastal areas. Two people have died in Rockport and Houston.

It has been shut down because of water in Hobby Airport in Houston. Flights has been canceled. The number of dead can increase.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley wrote in his Facebook post on Sunday, “India, to accelerate financial inclusion”, based on the JAM Trinity Approach (public fund, base and mobile) of the ‘1 billion-1 billion-billion billion’ vision Is within reach

What did Jaitley write on his Facebook post? :The finance minister wrote in his Facebook post, “1 billion base will be linked with 1 billion bank accounts and 1 billion mobile phones. When this happens, the entire country will become a part of the financial and digital mainstream.

“Jaitley has written this post on the third anniversary of the government’s ambitious financial inclusion plan, Prime Minister Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), whose aim is to financially ignore people Is to be brought under its purview.

 

7.GST Filing: More than 29 lakh people have filed the first returns :-

Since July 1, more than 29 lakh people have filed their first returns under the services and services tax applied across the country. Please tell you that the last date for filing of first return under GST has ended on August 25 i.e. on Friday.

A senior official informed that till Friday morning, more than 29.64 lakh returns had been filed. At the same time, he had estimate that by the end of the deadline, about 15-20 lakh returns and will be filed.

 

8.Government constitutes task force on artificial intelligence :-

The Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry has constituted a Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for India’s Economic Transformation.

The 18-member panel will be headed by Dr. V. Kamakoti of IIT Madras. It will comprise of experts, academics, researchers and industry leaders.
