1. Atal Navrational Mission, Policy Commission and MEGA launches ‘Innovate India Platform’ :-

Mr. R. Ramanan, Mission Director of Atal Innovation Mission and Mr. Arvind Gupta, CEO, MEGA, launched the ‘ # Innovate India Platform ‘ which is an alliance between the Atal Innovation Mission and the Government of India’s citizen centric platform ‘MyGaw’. # Innovate India Portal will work as a common center for all innovative steps in the country.

While launching the above platform, Mission Director of the Atal Innovation Mission said that #Inovate India MEGAV-AIM portal creates an extremely innovative platform for registering both the basic and intensive technology inventors at the national level. Such people who are looking for an important innovation can benefit from the benefits of the economy as well as to meet the national social needs.

 

2. The last date for filing income tax return was increased :-

The last date for filing income tax returns for the assessment year 2018-19 is 31 July 2018 for certain categories of taxpayers. After considering this, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the last date of filing of income tax returns in respect of the said categories of taxpayers from 31st July, 2018 to 31st August, 2018.

 

3. Center directs states to locate Rohingya people :-

The Center has instructed the states to trace the Rohingya people who have entered illegally in the country so that they can be sent back. Answering a supplementary question in the Rajya Sabha, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that states have been asked to ensure the biometric identity of Rohingya people so that they can not claim Indian citizenship through any document. Once this report is received by the State Governments, it will be sent to the External Affairs Ministry. After that, our External Affairs Minister will also talk to the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, besides the Foreign Minister of Burma, so that the Rohingya people living in our country will be reported in Burma.

 

4. Government sought feedback from RBI on merger of banks :-

The central government has asked the Reserve Bank of India to take a view on the public sector banks which can be merged for better coordination. Minister of State for Finance Shiv Pratap Shukla said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, “The Government has urged the Reserve Bank to give an idea in the context of the important prospects of integration so that appropriate thinking can be taken in the direction of keeping pace Shri Shukla said that no alternative has been received from government banks in the alternative arrangement. In his response, the minister said, “There is no time limit for the merger of government banks.” The government kept the statement of the Reserve Bank, It states that it does not have the same regulatory authority in the case of public and private sector banks. In fact, in August last year, the government had cleared the merger structure of public sector banks. The central government had said that ideally the process of merger should start with the bank board and it should be fully on commercial basis. Government has constituted a ministerial group to consider the proposal of government banks on merger. Finance Minister Piyush Goyal, Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister Arun Jaitley are included in this Group of Ministers.

 

5. West Bengal’s new name will be ‘Bangla’, in the presence of Mamta :-

Kolkata The new name of West Bengal will now be Bengali Because the Mamta Government passed the resolution in the Assembly on Thursday to change the name of the state, whose Congress and Left Front MLAs also supported. During the passage of the proposal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that we wanted to name three of the state in three different languages, but the center was not approved. That is why Bengali is now named after one name.

 6. Nitin Gadkari launches development projects in Madhya Pradesh :- 

Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari  has  started development projects worth more than Rs. 400 crore in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district .

He addressed the gathering during the conference of farmers in the development festival and district. The minister laid the foundation of five national highways projects spread over 226 kilometers of investment of Rs 3,583 crore.

 

7. Government has set up a high-level committee to investigate Moblink :-

Keeping in view the rising incidents of Mob Lynching, the  Central Government has constituted a high level committee under the chairmanship of Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba for discussions and recommendations in this matter .

Secretary, Department of Justice; Secretary, Department of Law Affairs; Secretary, Legislative Department; And secretary, social justice and empowerment are members of this committee. The committee will submit its recommendations to the government by August 2018.

 

8. The Policy Commission has signed a statement with Lupine Foundation for cooperation in ambitious districts :-

A statement (SoI)  has been signed between the   Policy Commission and the Lupine Foundation  to cooperate in the program of ambitious districts . The statement was made by  Yaduwendra Mathur, Additional Secretary, Policy Commission and Sita Ram Gupta, Executive Director, Lupine Foundation  .

The Policy Commission and the Lupine Foundation are collaborating to improve the indicators in education, health and nutrition, financial inclusion and skill development, agriculture and water resources and infrastructure in aspiring districts of India.

 

9. Appointment of first woman Chief Justice of Pakistan High Court :-

The first woman Chief Justice of Pakistan’s High Court has been appointed. Justice Tahira Safdar  has been nominated as Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court by Chief Justice Miyan Shakib Nisar.

Justice  Safdar made  history by becoming the first woman civil judge in Balochistan in 1982  . He is presently a member of the special court of three judges who were hearing the case of former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf for treason by declaring a state of emergency in November 2007.

 

10. Now the Olympic medal winners will be given a pension of 20,000 per month :-

Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore  has announced that the government has doubled the rate of pension for retired players from the winners of the  international championships and active sports since April 1. At present, the government  gives lifetime pension to 588 players under the ‘Pension for Meritorious Sponspers’  scheme.

As per the revised rates,  Olympic and Para Olympic medalists  and  Rs 20,000 per month  will be given, while the Olympic and Asian Games, the World Cup and the gold medal winners in the World Championship  Rs 16,000 per month  will be given.

Silver and bronze medal winners will be given Rs 14,000 per month in the World Cup of Olympics and Asian Games and gold medalists of  Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Para-Asian Games will also get the same amount. Silver and bronze medal winners of Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Para Asian Games will be given Rs. 12,000 per month.
