1. Kerala announces extension of ‘Kval Plus program’ to five more districts of the state
Recently, the Department of Women and Child Development , Government of Kerala has announced to extend the ‘ Kaval Plus ‘ program to five other districts of the state . This ambitious program was initially launched as a pilot project to provide care and protection to children and to provide holistic support to children suffering from sexual abuse. Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad in December 2020Since its launch in the districts, the project has been able to reach out to around 300 and 150 children respectively. Now this project will also be implemented in Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur. This project will be implemented with the help of NGOs capable of working with children. The selection of NGOs in all the districts is done by a committee constituted at the district level, which includes District Child Protection Officer, Child Welfare Committee representatives and Protection Officers (Non-Institutional Care) etc. Based on individual assessment of eligible children, the NGO will prepare an individual care plan for each child. After this, holistic psycho-social, economic and educational support is provided to the children.
2. IBRD funds Rs 1,860 crore for ‘Supporting Andhra Learning Transformation’ program
Recently ‘ International Bank for Reconstruction and Development ‘ ( IBRD ) has allocated Rs 1,860 crore for the implementation of ‘ Supporting Andhra Learning Transformation ‘ ( SALT ) program .amount has been approved. The program aims to improve learning outcomes, quality of teaching practices and school management in basic education by transforming government schools into vibrant and competitive institutions. Under this programme, infrastructure facilities will be revamped in government schools across the state. Under this program important areas like curriculum improvement, better classroom management, professional development of teachers and preparation of students to be globally competitive by introducing English as the medium of instruction in mainly state-run educational institutions. will be focused. This five year project will be implemented from the academic year 2021-22 to the year 2026-27. 3. West Bengal approves student credit card scheme
West Bengal cabinet has announced “ Student Credit Card Scheme ”on June 24, 2021.) approved. Trinamool Congress had promised to launch this scheme in its election manifesto. This scheme will be launched on June 30, 2021. Under this scheme, students can avail a soft loan of up to ₹10 lakh with the help of a credit card to enroll in higher studies. Loans will be given for higher studies in India as well as abroad. This loan will be given at 4% interest rate. The state government will act as a guarantor in this scheme. Any person who has spent 10 years in West Bengal can get loan benefits under this scheme. This loan will be available for undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and post doctoral studies. A person is eligible to get a loan under the scheme till the age of 40 years.

National Skill Development Corporation ( NSDC ) and WhatsApp launched their Digital Skill Champions Program on June 24, 2021.has been launched. This program has been started with the aim of imparting training on digital skills to make Indian youth job-ready. Under this programme, school and university students will be trained to consume digital and online skills. These skills will culminate with ‘Digital Skill Champions’ certification by WhatsApp and NSDC. The curriculum under this program is based on module format. It will provide knowledge about important aspects of the online ecosystem. It will also equip students with technology-based learning in Tier III and IV towns and cities. This will be delivered through InfiSpark, the project implementation partner of WhatsApp.

The Indian Green Building Council ( IGBC ) in association with National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd ( NHSRCL ) has launched the world’s first exclusive green rating system for high-speed rail . NHSRCL is a tool to enable new High-Speed Rail (HSR) stations that will implement energy-efficient concepts during design and construction. This will reduce measurable adverse environmental impacts. IGBC’s Green HSR rating system has been launched with the aim of ensuring environmental sustainability while enhancing the commuter experience.

Tedros Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organization, Darren Tang of the World Intellectual Property Organization and Gozi Okonjo-Iwela of the World Trade OrganizationSaid that they want to plan more cooperation to deal with the pandemic. In a joint statement, they said that they will implement a joint forum for trilateral technical assistance to countries in need of COVID-19 medical technologies. The platform will provide “a one-stop shop that will provide the full range of expertise in a coordinated manner on access, intellectual property and business matters provided by our organizations and other partners.”
8. Formation of a committee to examine world best practices relating to ship financing and leasing
The International Financial Services Centers Authority ( IFSCA) has set up a committee to examine world best practices relating to ship financing and leasing . This committee will identify opportunities and also prepare an action plan for related activities. The committee will be headed by former senior economic advisor Vandana Agarwal . India is strategically located on the shipping routes of the world. It has a coastal area of seven thousand five hundred kilometers. There are twelve major and more than two hundred minor ports in the country. Recently, the United Nations has supported a multinational project called “ Committee on Earth Observation Satellites Coastal Observations, Applications, Services, and Tools ( CEOS COAST )”. The CEOS COAST program is being led by ISRO and NOAA from the US . The objective of this program is satellite and land based observations.To improve the accuracy of coastal data based on land-based observations. It also seeks to promote trust and collaboration among scientists. These pilot projects are uniquely capable of using Earth observation technologies to meet the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations for the Ocean Decade Initiative. The themes of these projects are disaster risk reduction and coastal resilience among continental coastlines and small island nations.

According to this report, 36 million people suffered from substance abuse disorders. In the past 24 years, the potency of cannabis has quadrupled in some parts of the world. The percentage of adolescents who consider drugs to be harmful has decreased by 40%. Despite this, cannabis use is associated with a variety of health and other harms. This Drug Report highlights the need to bridge the gap between perception and reality to educate youth about the harmful effects of drugs and protect public health.
11. China will run the first electric train in Tibet
China will run the first electric train in the remote Himalayan region of Tibet . This electric train connects the provincial capital Lhasa to Nyingchi.Will connect with The 5-km-long Lhasa-Nyingchi section of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway will be inaugurated on July 1 ahead of the centenary celebrations of the ruling Communist Party of China. Nyingchi is a strategically located Tibetan border town close to Arunachal Pradesh. Electricity transmission process has been completed. The Sichuan–Tibet Railway is a railway under construction. It will connect Chengdu (the capital of Sichuan) and Lhasa (the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region). It is a 1,629 km long line which is going to reduce the travel time from Chengdu to Lhasa from 48 to 13 hours. This will be the second railway in Tibet after the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.

15. S&P lowers India’s growth forecast to 9.5%
Global rating agency S&P has slashed India’s growth forecast to 9.5% for the fiscal year 2021-2022 .Is done. Earlier it was kept at 11%. 16. Reliance announces new clean energy business
Reliance Industries has announced the opening of a new clean energy factory to manufacture solar photovoltaic cells for the next three years . Mukesh Ambani Rs 75,000 crorewill start the investment project. Four ‘Giga’ factories will be set up to manufacture solar photovoltaic cells, green hydrogen, batteries and fuel cells for the next three years. This will set up 100 GW of solar power generation capacity. In order to promote export of agricultural and processed food products , APEDA in association with Embassy of India organized a Virtual Buyer Seller Meet ( VBSM ) with Algeria which was attended by key stakeholders of the agricultural value chain of both the countries. Titled ‘Opportunities in Agriculture between India and Algeria’, the VBSM was attended by over 100 participants including exporters, processors and traders of agricultural commodities from India and Algeria. Due to the current COVID-19 global pandemic, it was not possible to physically organize the export promotion programmes. APEDA is conducting a series of VBSMs with various countries to provide a platform to exporters and importers.

27. Vice President pays tribute to Sucheta Kriplani on her birth anniversary
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, noted freedom fighter and India’s first woman Chief Minister Sucheta KriplaniTributes have been paid to him on his birth anniversary. Shri Naidu said that his role in the Quit India Movement will always be remembered. Sucheta Kriplani was born on June 25, 1908 in Ambala, Haryana in a Bengali family. Sucheta Kripalani’s father S.N. Majumdar was a nationalist figure despite being a doctor under the British government. In the year 1936, she was married to Acharya Jivatram Bhagwandas Kripalani. After marriage, Sucheta Kripalani was actively involved in the freedom struggle. In 1962, she was elected a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Kanpur. She was made the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in the year 1963 and with this she took pride in becoming the first woman Chief Minister of the country.
