1 Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar performed yoga with around 15,000 people at the Garrison Ground in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

 The main program on  the 9th International Yoga Day  was organized with full enthusiasm in Jabalpur ,  Madhya  Pradesh . Vice President  Jagdeep Dhankhar  performed   yoga with  about  15,000 people at the Garrison ground . Under the theme of this year’s Yoga Day in Jabalpur, ‘ Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam ‘, more than 1.5 lakh people took part in yoga exercises organized at various places. Madhya Pradesh Governor  Mangubhai Patel , Chief Minister  Shivraj Singh Chouhan , Union AYUSH Minister  Sarbananda Sonowal  and several Union ministers also performed Yogasanas in the main event.

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  led   the International Day of Volunteers celebrations  at  the United Nations Headquarters  in   New  York , USA . Several dignitaries including President of the United Nations General Assembly  Xaba Korosi , Mayor of New York City  Eric Adams  and  thousands of yoga enthusiasts from 135 countries  participated in the yoga session. Guinness World Record for participation of people from most countries in the yoga session  has been made. According to officials, people from 135 countries participated in the Yoga Day event at the United Nations. The Guinness World Record certificate was   handed over to Ruchira Kamboj , India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in the presence of the Prime Minister.

3 Swaminathan Janakiraman became the new Deputy Governor of RBI

The Government of India   has appointed Swaminathan Janakiraman as the  Deputy  Governor  of  the Reserve Bank of India  for  three years . Janakiraman will replace Mahesh Kumar Jain after his term ends on June 22. Let us tell you that Swaminathan Janakiraman is currently the Managing Director of State Bank of India.

4 Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurates Integrated Simulator Complex ‘DHRUV’ at Kochi to enhance practical training of Indian Navy Personnel

Raksha Mantri  Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Integrated Simulator Complex (ISC) ‘Dhruv’  at  the Southern Naval Command, Kochi  on 21 June 2023   to enhance practical training of  Indian Naval Personnel  .  inaugurated. ISC ‘Dhruv’ is home to modern and state-of-the-art indigenously built simulators which will significantly enhance practical training in the Indian Navy. These simulators are envisaged to provide real time experience on navigation, fleet operations and combat skills of the Navy. These simulators will also be used for training of personnel from friendly countries. Raksha Mantri visited the Multi Station Handling Simulator (MSSHS), Air Direction and Helicopter Control Simulator (ADHCS) and Astronavigation Dome, among the many simulators envisaged at the complex. New Delhi based ARI Pvt. Ltd. The ship handling simulators manufactured by the company have been exported to 18 countries. Infovision Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The Astronavigation Dome built by ISRO is the first of its kind in the Indian Navy.

5 UNDP partners with DAY-NULM to empower women entrepreneurs

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP)  and  Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) have entered into  a collaborative partnership with an aim to empower women to make informed career choices in the field of entrepreneurship. The partnership will provide support for women looking to start and expand their ventures in the care economy, digital economy, electric mobility, waste management, food packaging and other sectors. Focused on encouraging entrepreneurship development and accelerating enterprise development, the three-year project, which can be extended beyond 2025, will cover eight cities in the initial phase.

6 Amit Shah inaugurates CREDAI Garden-People’s Park in Ahmedabad

 On the auspicious occasion of  Jagannath Rath Yatra, Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah  inaugurated   various development works and performed Bhumi Pujan in Ahmedabad . The inaugurated projects   also include  CREDAI Garden-People’s Park  , a beautiful park built by CREDAI with the aim of providing a comfortable and eco-friendly space for people from all walks of life. CREDAI Garden-People’s Park is a huge park spread over 12,000 square meters. The park was constructed at a cost of around Rs 2.5 crore.

7 Salman Rushdie Receives The German Peace Prize

Renowned British-American author  Salman Rushdie  has been awarded  the prestigious German Peace Prize  for his outstanding contribution  . The Peace Prize of the German Book Trade  Jury recognized Rushdie as a defender of freedom of thought and expression. This honor comes nearly a year after the horrific attack he experienced. During a campaign in May 2017, Canadian author Margaret Atwood joined Salman Rushdie to draw attention to persecuted writers facing censorship. Atwood, best known for her dystopian novel “The Handmaid’s Tale”, was awarded the Peace Prize in 2017.

8 Acharya N. Gopi to be honored with Professor Kothapalli Jaishankar Award

Renowned poet, literary critic and recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award,  Acharya N. Gopi  (Acharya N. Gopi) was awarded the prestigious  Prof. Kothapalli  has been selected as the recipient of the Jayashankar Award. The award, instituted by Bharat Jagruti, a cultural organization affiliated to the Bharat Rashtra Samiti, aims to honor litterateurs. The award ceremony will be held on June 21 at the Telangana Saraswat Parishad.

9 India and Sri Lanka are fast-tracking digital education project in Galle district

India and Sri Lanka   are fast-tracking a digital education project  in  Galle district . The High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka,  Gopal Baglay, Secretary, Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka, M.N. Ranasinghe in a diplomatic letter to expedite the installation of modern computer labs and smart boards in 200 schools. The project, funded by the Government of India, aims to enhance digital literacy among students from underprivileged areas. This is one of the many grant projects run by India in the education sector in Sri Lanka. India is currently giving about $5 billion in development assistance to Sri Lanka, of which about $6 trillion is in the form of grants. More than 65 grant projects have already been implemented in 25 districts of Sri Lanka, and more than 20 projects are in various stages of implementation.

10. Government decides to integrate Women Helpline and Shishu Helpline with Emergency Response Support System 112 in a phased manner

The Government has   decided to integrate the Women Helpline  and  Shishu Helpline with the Emergency Response Support System 112  in a phased manner  . The decision  has been taken in keeping with the larger vision of One Nation One Helpline  and the response time to distress calls. The Ministry of Women and Child Development has said that this step has been taken to fix the responsibility of the administration towards the children and to activate the administration working in this direction. The ministry said that  in the first phase nine states and union territories will be covered by the end of this month. Helplines will be added in After this, helplines will be connected in 12 other states by the end of next month. The ministry says that at present, it takes 60 minutes for help to reach children who call in distress and there is a lack of coordination between police, fire and ambulance services, which leads to wastage of time. Presently this system is applicable in 568 districts of the country but 200 districts are out of it.

11 Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways issues a draft notification proposing third party insurance under the Motor Vehicles Act for the financial year 2023-24

 The Ministry  of Road, Transport and Highways  has issued a draft notification proposing third party insurance  under  the Motor Vehicles Act  for  the financial year 2023-24 . As per the notification,  a relaxation of 15 per cent  has been proposed for the buses of educational institutions . The ministry said that  a rebate of 50 per cent  has also been proposed for private cars registered as vintage cars. Fifteen percent discount on electric vehicles  and  7.5 percent discount on hybrid electric vehicles has been given to The ministry said that a reduction of about 6.5 per cent in the base premium rate has been proposed for passenger-carrying three-wheelers. The ministry has sought suggestions from all stakeholders within thirty days.

12. In Gujarat, 1.5 lakh people practiced yoga together and created a world record.

The 9th International Yoga Day  celebrations   in Surat, led by  Gujarat  Chief Minister  Bhupendra Patel,  created a new Guinness Book of World Record with 1.5 lakh people  practicing yoga together  . It was formally announced by the representatives of Guinness Book and handed over the record certificate to the Chief Minister. This program was organized in a radius of twelve and a half kilometers.

13 Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurates and lays the foundation stone of 4 National Highway projects worth Rs 3,835 crore at Sonepat, Karnal and Ambala in Haryana

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways  Shri Nitin Gadkari  inaugurated   and laid the foundation stone  of  4 National Highway projects worth Rs 3,835 crore  at  Sonipat, Karnal and Ambala  in  Haryana . On this occasion, Chief Minister of Haryana  Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar , Deputy Chief Minister  Mr. Dushyant Chautala And other MPs, MLAs and officials were also present. The construction of 11 flyovers with a total length of 24 km at Sonipat on 8-laning National Highway 44 between Delhi to Panipat at a cost of Rs 890 crore will improve connectivity to the economic zones of Haryana, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. This highway from Delhi to Panipat will connect agricultural areas with industrial areas, which will facilitate the transportation of goods and finished products. Along with this, the movement of tourists going to Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir will be easier through the Delhi-Panipat corridor.

14 Glaciers melting fast in Hindu Kush Himalayas: Report

 A recent report by  the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) shows rapid glacier loss  in  the  Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region . This concerning trend is having significant implications for water resources, ecosystems and communities dependent on the cryosphere. The report underscores the urgent need for adaptation measures to address the challenges posed by cryospheric change in the region. This report shows that the Hindu Kush Himalaya   has experienced a rapid 65% loss of glacier mass . Between 2010 and 2019, the region lost an average of 0.28 m of water equivalent (mw.e.) per year, compared to 0.17 m between 2000 and 2009. There was a shortage of

15 India women’s A cricket team beat Bangladesh in the final of Emerging Asia Cup

India women’s A cricket team  defeated   Bangladesh by 31 runs in  the final match of the  Emerging Asia Cup  being played in  Hong Kong . Batting first, the Indian team scored 127 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, the Bangladesh team was reduced to scoring only 96 runs. Shreyanka Patil took the maximum 4 wickets from the Indian women’s team.

16 June 21: International Yoga Day

International Day of Yoga  is celebrated every year  on  21st June across the world  with the aim of spreading awareness about the benefits of yoga and sensitizing people towards their health. International Yoga Day was celebrated for the first time in the year 2015. The purpose of celebrating this day is to raise global awareness about the benefits of practicing yoga. The theme chosen for this year’s International Day of Yoga 2023 is ” Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam ,” which represents our shared desire for “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”

On 21 June  the international community   celebrates World Music Day . This day   is also known as Fête de la Music . It is an annual event that promotes the power of music and its universal language. On World Music Day, musicians and music lovers from all over the world come together to enjoy and perform different genres of music. Free concerts are held today, where musicians perform music for enjoyment without payment. First World Music Day in Paris on 21 June 1982 was celebrated. The day was organized by Jacques Lang, the then Minister of Culture of France, and Maurice Floret, the then Director of Music and Dance of the French Ministry of Culture. Music Day is celebrated in more than seven hundred cities in one hundred and twenty countries around the world including India, Germany, Italy, Greece, Russia, Australia, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico, Canada, USA, United Kingdom, Japan and other countries .
