1.Film actor Akshay Kumar becomes brand ambassador for road safety campaigns :-

Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Minister, Nitin Gadkari  has launched three short films to create public awareness for road safety.

Film actor Shri Akshay Kumar has acted in these films and he has been directed by Mr. R. Baalki. Shri Gadkari has announced the appointment of Shri Akshay Kumar as the Road Safety Brand ambassador.

 

2.Imran Khan’s swearing-in ceremony today, will become Pakistan’s 22nd Prime Minister :-

Cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan is going to be Pakistan’s Wazir-e-Alam. They will swear today as the 22nd prime minister of Pakistan. Preparations have been completed in Islamabad over their swearing-in ceremony. On Friday, the National Assembly elected him as the 22nd Prime Minister of the country in the House elections.

 

3.DGMO level talks between India and Pakistan :-

DGMO level talks between India and Pakistan on August 16, 2018, from DGMO of Pakistan (Director General of Military Operations) Gifts were exchanged between DGMO of both countries on the occasion of Independence Day. DGMO of Pakistan expressed satisfaction at the steps taken by the Army to maintain peace and harmony on the Line of Control. He said that cases of ceasefire violations have come down sharply, indicating a better future.

Pakistan’s DGMO assured that Pakistan’s army will take immediate action against the activities of the harmful elements on the control line and will respond to the information sent by India and help in counter-insurgency operations.

 

4.India and Singapore Navy celebrate the Silver Jubilee of bilateral maritime relations :-

India and Singapore navies will conduct joint military exercises next month to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of maritime relations between the two countries. This information was given to Singapore High Commissioner Javed Ashraf in Singapore on Wednesday night in Singapore. He said that excellent defense relations between the two countries are evidence of mutual trust and concern for the region.

 

5.Prime Minister Modi launches world’s largest healthcare insurance on Independence Day :-

With the aim of providing better status to the poor access to quality and affordable health care, the government has  announced the launch of Ayushman Bharat (Naval Public Health Campaign) on  September 25  , in which 500 million people will be included. Under this scheme, about 100 million households will receive health cover of Rs 5 lakh per annum.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this by addressing his last Independence Day from the coast of Red Fort before the next Lok Sabha elections. The world’s largest healthcare cover scheme, which covers 100 million families, will be provided cover of 5 lakhs per year. The plan came out popularly as ‘ModiCare’.

 

6.Chhattisgarh, the first state to give youth the right to skill development :-

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh  announced that  Chhattisgarh is the first of 28 other states in the country to impart skills to the youth.

The Chief Minister flagged fifteen skill chariots with the Minister of State for Skill Development Anant Kumar Hegde to launch a project of ‘Skill on Wheel’ in the state.

 

7.SBI named as the country’s most patriotic brand: survey :-

Related imageAccording to a survey conducted by UK-based online market research and data analyst YouGov , the  country’s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) is  considered the most patriotic brand, followed by Tata Motors, Patanjali, Reliance Jio and BSNL.

The survey, which covered 152 brands in 11 categories,  is based on data collected online by YouGov Omnibus among 1,193 respondents in the country using the panel of online representation in India  .

 

8.IPPB launches due to Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s demise :-

The government plans to launch IPPB 650 branches across the country. IPPB will provide banking and financial services to rural people through 1.55 lakh post office branches. This will bring the country’s largest banking network into existence, which will have its presence at the level of the villages.

There will be 3,250 access points in post offices and 11,000 post offices. They will provide banking services at home door in both rural and urban areas. IPPB is allowed to link 17 million postal savings accounts to your account. Through this, the convenience of customers will increase and they will be connected to core banking. The services of IPPB will reach around 1.30 lakh post offices in the rural areas. There are only 49 thousand bank branches in the countryside.

 

9.Ben Stokes of the third Test in the last eleven of England, Sam Kourren out of the team :-

Nottingham England all-rounder Ben Stokes has been given the place in the final eleven for the third test match. The third Test match between India and England starts on August 18 in Trent Bridge from Saturday. The 27-year-old Stokes had missed the second Test match due to a case trial. During the Lord’s Test, she was busy hearing the case, due to which she could not take part in it. In the case of the assault, Stokes was found guilty by the court and was acquitted after which he was included in the team. Ben Stokes has been included in the last eleven instead of Sam Kurran. Earlier, Stokes and Kouron played the first Test against India in which Team India lost by 31 runs.
