France   is going to become the first country in the world to give abortion  the status of  a constitutional right. President  Emmanuel Macron  has called a special session of both the houses of Parliament for this. If MPs vote in favor of this proposal, women will have the freedom to have an abortion. Mr Macron said he had promised to give women the constitutional right to abortion.

2 Mission Utkarsh for eradication of anemia

Ministry of AYUSH  and  Ministry of Women and Child Development  jointly  launched Mission Utkarsh.  launched  which aims  to improve nutrition among adolescent girls through Ayurvedic interventions . Under Mission Utkarsh, 15 central ministries or departments will provide assistance to the low level districts to develop up to the state and national average. Under the first phase of the Mission,  adolescent girls (14-18 years) will be provided with Ayurvedic intervention in five aspirational districts of five states –  Assam  ( Dhubri ),  Chhattisgarh (Bastar), Jharkhand (West Singhbhum)Maharashtra  ( Gadchiroli ) and  Rajasthan  ( Dholpur ). ) will be implemented to control anemia.

4 Cleanliness Green Leaf Rating initiative will transform India’s growing tourism industry with world-class cleanliness and hygiene facilities for tourists and promote sustainable tourism

To drive  change in sanitation practices   in  India’s growing  tourism industry , the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS)   in  the Ministry of Jal Shakti  in collaboration with   the Ministry of Tourism has launched the Sanitation Green Leaf Rating (SGLR)  initiative. This visionary program is being implemented by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi  to provide  world class cleanliness and hygiene facilities for tourists.  , marking an important step towards cleaner and more sustainable tourism practices. Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat called upon all tourist facilities to enhance the level of beauty and cleanliness at all tourist places. Bison Resorts, located in Central Madhai, Narmadapuram in Madhya Pradesh, has taken the lead by achieving the first five Cleanliness Green Leaf Rating certifications. This honor reflects the resort’s commitment to responsible tourism practices and sets an admirable example for the tourism industry.

6 Ministry of Women and Child Development organized ‘Poshan Utsav: Celebrating Nutrition’

The Ministry of Women and Child Development  organized  Poshan Utsav  on February 29, 2024   at  Oberoi Hotel,  New Delhi . The aim of this program was to promote good nutritional behaviour. Also, India’s efforts to tackle malnutrition by promoting good nutrition practices were highlighted. The event   was graced by the presence of Shri Bill Gates,  Co-Chairman of the  Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF)  along with  Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Minister of Women and Child Development and Minority Affairs. At the event,  ‘Poshan Utsav Book’  was released and the launch of Cartoon Alliance was announced. ‘Poshan Utsav Pustak’, conceptualized by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, has been prepared by  Deendayal Research Institute (DRI)  . This book seeks to revive ancient nutrition traditions, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and inter-generational learning.

7 21 feet high statue of Maharana Pratap unveiled in Hyderabad

A 21 feet statue of Maharana Pratap  was unveiled  at  Begum Bazaar Maharana Pratap Chowk  in  Hyderabad . Maharana Pratap,   also known as  Pratap Singh I , was a famous king of Mewar  , a region of present-day Rajasthan, India.  He is remembered in history for his brave leadership during the Rajput resistance against the expansionist policies of the  Mughal emperor Akbar . Battles like Haldighati and Diwar  stand as poignant chapters in his saga, catapulting him to the status of a folk hero among Rajputs. This grand statue weighing two tonnes was brought to life by the skilled hands of artist Sundar Singh over a period of three months.

9 North-East India Film Festival begins in Manipur

 North East India Film Festival  has started  in Manipur . Manipur  Governor  Ms. Anusuiya  Uike   inaugurated it at the Manipur State Film Development Society Auditorium in the capital  Imphal . This festival, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, will continue till March 7. Seventeen films will be shown during this period.

10 Former UN Assistant Secretary General Lakshmi Murdeshwar Puri launches first book “Swallowing the Sun”

Lakshmi Murdeshwar Puri, former Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and wife of   Union Minister  Hardeep Singh Puri,  released  her debut novel “ Swallowing the Sun ”. On this occasion, he said that his  novel is inspired by the period of independence  and is connected to Marathi saint-poets, his parents and his roots in Maharashtra. The novel emphasizes on women empowerment.

11 Indian cricket team reached the top of the World Test Championship rankings, leaving behind Uganda.

The Indian cricket team  has reached  the top of the World Test Championship rankings,   leaving  New Zealand behind. International Cricket Council-ICC  released the revised points table of the World Test Championship. India has reached first place with Australia’s victory over New Zealand in the Wellington Test match. Currently, the Indian team is ahead by three-one in the ongoing five-match cricket test series with England and India’s victory in the final match will strengthen its position.

12 World Wildlife Day: 3 March

World Wildlife Day is celebrated   every year on  3 March  . On 20 December 2013  ,  the United Nations General Assembly  decided to declare 3 March as World Wildlife Day. This day is celebrated to increase awareness about wild animals and plants. On this day, in 1973, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was adopted. The 2024 theme, “ Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation ”, recognizes the impact of digital interventions on ecosystems and communities in an increasingly connected world.
