In order to strengthen the security of the nation and the defense of maritime borders , the indigenously built Indian Coast Guard Ship Sarthak was dedicated to the nation at Goa . It will be deployed in Porbandar, Gujarat. It is operated by Coast Guard Zone (North-West)on the western coast of India under the administrative control of the The Defense Ministry said that the command of the ship Sarthak has been handed over to Deputy Inspector General MM Syed. The vessel is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, sensors and weapons and is capable of functioning as a command platform. The ship meets the terms of the Charter on Compulsory Duties of the Coast Guard, which include search and rescue, combating maritime crimes, and protection of the marine environment. The Ministry said that the Indian Coast Guard is a shining example of a meaningful self-reliant India.

3.PM co-chairs the 18th India-ASEAN summit

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi , attended the 18th India-ASEAN Summit at the invitation of His Excellency Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah , the current President of ASEAN , Brunei . The summit was held virtually and was attended by politicians from ASEAN member states. Highlighting the remarkable achievement of the 30th anniversary of the India-ASEAN partnership, all these leaders celebrated 2022 as the ‘ Year of India-ASEAN Friendship ‘. ‘ declared as Prime Minister Modi underlined the central role of ASEAN in India’s vision for India’s ‘Act East Policy’ and a comprehensive Indo-Pacific vision. Relying on the convergence between the ASEAN Outlook for the Indo-Pacific (AoIP) and India’s Indo-Pacific Ocean Initiative (IPOI), Prime Minister Modi and the ASEAN leaders called on ‘India’ on cooperation for peace, stability and prosperity in the region. Welcomed the approval of the ‘ASEAN Joint Statement’.

4.Karnataka’s Department of Colleges and Technical Education signs a letter of intent with Infosys

The College and Technical Education Department of Karnataka signed a letter of intent with IT company Infosys in Bengaluru. This will prepare students for industry-related courses and help them improve their careers as per the principles of the National Education Policy 2020 . Five lakh students and higher education level faculties will be benefitted every year by this letter of intent. Infosys will assist the College Education Department in setting up a digital development program as well as providing the necessary infrastructure by providing 15,000 computers.

Recently, the government has two years of the period Dr. Bibek Debroy led by the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council ( Economic Advisory Council To The Prime Minister: EAC-PM) has been reorganized. It is noteworthy that the term of EAC-PM ended in September 2021. EAC-PM is a non-constitutional, non-statutory, independent body constituted to advise the Government of India, especially the Prime Minister, on economic and other related issues. This council works to highlight the major economic issues for the Government of India with a neutral approach. It advises the Prime Minister on economic issues such as inflation, microfinance/micro finance and industrial production. NITI Aayog acts as the nodal agency for EAC-PM for administrative, logistics, planning and budgeting purposes.

11.CCI approves acquisition of 4.99% stake in HDFC ERGO by HDFC Bank

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the acquisition of 4.99 per cent of the outstanding equity share capital in HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company by private sector lender HDFC Bank . HDFC Bank will acquire 3.56 crore shares or 4.99% stake from its parent company Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) for Rs 1,906 crore. HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company is a joint venture between HDFC and European insurer ERGO International AG.

13.GAIL to build India’s largest green hydrogen plant

State-owned GAIL (GAIL) (India) Ltd will build India’s largest green hydrogen generating plant as it seeks to supplement its natural gas business with carbon-free fuel. GAIL Chairman and Managing Director Manoj Jain said the company is looking at manufacturing a 10 megawatt (MW) electrolyser capable of generating 4.5 tonnes of green hydrogen per day. The firm has already floated a global tender to buy the electrolyzer and is expecting deliveries in 12-14 months. This will be twice the size announced by the state power producer NTPC.

Private sector lender ICICI Bank has surpassed the market capitalization of Hindustan Unilever to become the fifth largest company by market value . According to BSE data, ICICI Bank’s market capitalization (m-cap) stood at Rs 5.83 lakh crore , slightly above HUL’s Rs 5.76 lakh crore. This follows the bank’s highest ever quarterly net profit reporting in the July to September 2021 quarter. The bank’s stock touched a 52-week high of Rs 859.70 on BSE to end at Rs 841.05, registering a gain of 10.8 per cent over the previous day’s close. ICICI Bank has become the second lender after HDFC Bank to break into the top five companies on the BSE in terms of m-cap.

20.Doodle on Kano Jigoro’s 161st birth anniversary

World famous tech company Google recently celebrated the 161st birth anniversary of ‘ Kano Jigoro ‘ , the father of Judo.But he was honored by making a doodle. Born in ‘Mikaze’ (now part of ‘Kobe’) in the year 1860, ‘Kano Jigoro’ moved to Tokyo with his father at the age of 11. As a student at the University of Tokyo, he received training from ‘Jujutsu Master’ and former samurai ‘Fukuda Hachinosuke’. Judo as a martial art was first born during a match in ‘Jujutsu’, when ‘Kano Jigoro’ overcame an older opponent through it. In 1882, Kano Jigoro opened the ‘Kodokan Judo Institute’ in Tokyo, where he developed the principles of judo over the years. In 1909, Kano Jigoro became the first Asian member of the ‘International Olympic Committee’ (IOC), and in 1960 the IOC approved judo as an official Olympic sport. Kano Jigoro was inducted as the first member of the International Judo Federation (IJF) Hall of Fame on May 14, 1999.
