1 Inauguration of 504 bedded International Hostel “Madhumas” of Pusa Institute by Union Agriculture Minister

 The International Hostel “ Madhumas ”  of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, PusaNew Delhi was inaugurated  by the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar . This hostel has 400 single-bed rooms, 56 single-bed rooms with bathroom-kitchen and 48 family apartments, with accommodation for 504 students. The hostel campus has gymnasium, restaurant, solar power system, rain water harvesting system, generator based power backup, R.O. There are all modern amenities like system based drinking water, fire fighting system, parking area, lift system.

2 Scientists arrive for the first time as part of Colombo Security Conclave on India’s research vessel ‘Sagar Nidhi’

 In a historic event of about 35 days duration on  ocean cooperation  under the framework of  the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC)  among the countries of  the Indian Ocean region ,  scientists from  Bangladesh and Mauritius to participate in a joint ocean expedition  on June 29, On board India’s research vessel ‘ Sagar Nidhi ‘ on 2023. The expedition (cruise) is managed by the Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences. The event is an outcome of the first Oceanographers and Hydrologists Conference of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) held in Goa and Hyderabad in November 2022.

3 DAY-NRLM launches mobile app for marketing products made by women from SHGs

 Taking another step to strengthen marketing for   products  made by women of  Self  Help Groups (SHGs) , Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM)  launched eSARAS mobile app which will enable the products made by SHGs Will contribute to the ecommerce initiative for the products sold. The app was launched by Mr. Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India in New Delhi. On this occasion, Shri Singh also inaugurated the E-Saras Fulfillment Center at the Janakpuri office of the Ministry in New Delhi.

4 Startup-20 Summit begins in Gurugram

The Startup 20 Summit,  organized by   the Startup-20 dialogue group  under the G-20 chairmanship of India,   began in Gurugram . The two-day event marks the significant milestone of the successful completion of the first year of Startup 20 and the release of the final policy communique. This two-day event is the first significant achievement of the Startup 20 Dialogue Group. Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Shri Som Prakash, G-20 Sherpa of India Shri Amitabh Kant, Startup 20 President Dr. Chitan Vaishnav and other dignitaries were present at the inaugural event.

5 India and Vietnam discussed ways of cooperation in the field of law and justice

India and Vietnam  have   discussed measures for cooperation in the field of law and justice . Both sides agreed to hold consultations at the official level to take forward discussions on wide-ranging areas of cooperation in the field of law and justice, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.  A bilateral meeting was held between Union Law and Justice Minister  Arjun Ram Meghwal  and Justice Minister of Vietnam  Le Thanh Long in New Delhi. Both sides used the occasion to discuss measures for cooperation in various fields of law and justice.

6 National Anti-Doping Agency signs MoU with South Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organization

National Anti-Doping Agency  signed  an MoU with South Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organization- SARADO  in   New Delhi . SARADO   comprises the anti-doping organizations of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka . The objective of the agreement   is to enhance regional cooperation to prevent doping in sports . Speaking on the occasion, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister  Anurag Singh Thakur  highlighted India’s growing participation and achievements in international sports. They discussed the responsibility of the government in promoting probity in sports and its contribution to the global anti-doping movement.

7 Announcement of extension of Brajendra Navneet’s tenure in WTO by nine months

The Government of India   announced the extension of Brijendra Navneet  ‘s tenure   as  India’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative  to  the World Trade Organization (WTO) by nine months . The decision   comes ahead of the crucial 13th ministerial conference of WTO in 2024 . Brijendra Navneet   assumed charge as India’s Ambassador to the WTO in June 2020 , with his initial tenure set to end on June 28, 2023. However, the recent decision of the government to extend his tenure  till March 31, 2024  shows the recognition of his valuable contribution and the need for continuity during the crucial negotiations.

8 Center reappoints Tushar Mehta as Solicitor General of India for 3 more years

Senior advocate and Solicitor General  Tushar Mehta   has been reappointed as the Solicitor General  of India for a period of  three years in the Supreme Court along with his team of six Additional Solicitor Generals (ASGs). Mehta has been holding the post of SG since October 2018.

9 64th Global Environment Facility (GEF) held in Brazil

At the recent  64th Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council meeting  held in  Brazil  , the governing body   approved the disbursement of US$1.4 billion  to accelerate efforts to combat  climate, biodiversity and pollution . This   is the second action plan of the GEF-8 funding period (running through 2022 and 2026). The Governing Body has  established a new fund,  the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund (GBFF),   to finance the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.The establishment has been approved. This fund is significant because approximately 50% of resources will be allocated to biodiversity-related activities during the GEF-8 period. The fund will be allocated 20% to Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC), 25% to GEF agencies, 36% to SIDS (Small Island Developing States) and 3% to LDCs (Least Developed Countries). Allocations for IPLCs will be reviewed in August two years after ratification, while allocations for SIDS and LDCs will be reviewed three years after ratification.

10 Monitoring preparedness to deal with vector borne diseases

Recently,  the Union Health Minister  objectively  assessed the state’s preparedness  in preventing and controlling  vector-borne diseases  ahead of  the monsoon season  , stressing the importance of proactive measures and health interventions to reduce the disease burden. Vector-borne diseases   are a group of diseases transmitted to humans by the bite of infected vectors  such as  mosquitoes, ticks, fleas and flies . These diseases   include malaria, dengue fever, chikungunya, Japanese encephalitis, lymphatic filariasis and kala-azar. They are usually seasonal and prone to outbreaks, these diseases mostly occur during the monsoon and the post-monsoon period.

11 INS Sunayna visits Beira, Mozambique

Recently   a naval ship INS Sunayna of   the  Indian Navy  visited the port of Beira, Mozambique to promote cordial relations with its maritime neighbors and to promote India’s vision of security and development for all in the maritime region . Shows commitment. The deployment of INS Sunayna  also includes patrolling  a joint Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ)  off the coast of Mozambique which further enhances security cooperation between the two countries. Mission Sagar  was   launched in the year 2015 . The  Indian Ocean Region (IOR) I have a strategic vision of India. Through Sagar, India seeks to strengthen economic and security cooperation with its maritime neighbors and assist in building their maritime security capabilities.

12 Tamil Nadu has secured the top position in electronics exports in India.

Tamil Nadu (TN)  became  India’s leading exporter  of  electronic goods  in FY23  , with exports  reaching US$ 5.37 billion (bn)  , according to export data released by the  Government of India  for  FY23 (financial year ending March 2023). Nearly three times the exports of FY22 (US$ 1.86 bn). Uttar Pradesh (UP)  ranks second  after Tamil Nadu with exports of US$ 4.90 bn  and Karnataka with US$ 4.52 billion is in third place. For the first time, Tamil Nadu has overtaken UP, Karnataka and Maharashtra as India’s leading exporter of electronic goods. Production from companies such as Tata Electronics and Pegatron helped Tamil Nadu climb from the fourth position to the top position in FY22 in the electronics sector. Note: In FY22, Karnataka tops the list with US$ 3.87 bn; followed by UP with US$ 3.77 bn; Maharashtra is followed by US$ 2.08 bn.

13 GST Deduction on Electronic Appliances

The Finance Ministry  has announced a reduction in GST rates on  mobile phones, TVs up to 27 inches, fridges and other  electronic items . On July 1, GST has completed six years of implementation. The Finance Ministry has given this information by sharing a tweet. A graphic has been shared in this tweet, in which customers will have to pay less GST than before on different items. In the new rates, GST on electronics items will have to be paid from 18 to 5 percent. Earlier the GST rates on these items ranged from 8 to 31.3 per cent.

14 Max Verstappen won the Austrian Grand Prix 2023

Reigning Formula One champion  Max Verstappen  continued his impressive run with   a stunning win at the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix . The win strengthened his pursuit of a third consecutive world title. Starting from pole position for the fourth race in a row, Verstappen showed his dominance by taking his fifth consecutive win and seventh in nine races of the current season.

Guru Purnima is considered  a  religious Hindu festival  that holds an important place in Hinduism. As per the Panchang, Guru Purnima is celebrated every year  on the full moon day in the month of Ashadha  and this year Guru Purnima  is celebrated on  3rd July 2023 . Guru Purnima personifies the guru-shishya relationship in India, Nepal and Bhutan. Guru Purnima is not just a Hindu festival, it is celebrated by Buddhists and even Jains with the same enthusiasm.

16 World UFO Day 2023: 02 July

World UFO Day observed annually on  July 2 ,  serves as a platform for individuals around the world to delve into the intriguing realm of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) . World UFO Day traces its roots to two significant events in the United States. The first incident occurred on June 24, 1947, when pilot Kenneth Arnold reported seeing several unidentified objects near Mount Rainier, Washington. Subsequently, on July 2, 1952, radar operators confirmed several UFO sightings over Washington. To avoid conflicts with other UFO-related events, the official date of World UFO Day was moved to July 2, honoring this remarkable event.

17 World Sports Journalists Day 2023

World Sports Journalists Day  is observed across the world on 2 July  every year  . Sports hold great importance in the overall development of individuals, serving as both a recreational pursuit and a potential career path.
