1. PM releases report on status of tigers in the country

3. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on an official visit to Uganda and Mozambique

External Affairs Minister  Dr. S. Jaishankar to visit Uganda and Mozambique  by 15 April  will reach Uganda on an official visit to Dr. Jaishankar will hold delegation-level talks with Uganda’s Foreign Minister, General JJ Odongo, as well as meet Uganda’s central leadership and other ministers. The External Affairs Minister will also inaugurate the transit campus of the National Forensic Science University-NFSU at Jinja. A bilateral MoU will be signed between the Government of India and the Government of Uganda to set up the first campus of NFSU outside India during the visit. Shri Jaishankar will attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of a solar powered water supply project in Uganda. 4. India-France Business Summit to be held on April 11, 2023 to commemorate 25 years of Indo-French friendship

5. Tamil Nadu Government’s ‘TN Reach’ Initiative

Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation  is going to connect  many cities of the state  by helicopter . It   has been named Tamil Nadu Regional Aerial Connectivity Through Helicopters (TN REACH) .  It will give intercity connectivity using more than 80 decommissioned helipads across the state  . This mechanism will rely on two existing initiatives Heli Disha, which is an administrative manual for helicopter operations, and Heli Seva, which is an online portal for providing landing clearance for helicopter operations. TN Reach aims to create an air routes network within the state using helicopters.

6. KSINC launches India’s first solar powered tourist boat

The Kerala State Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC)  has   launched  Sooryamshu , a solar-  powered tourist boat  that  can generate 27 kW of power . The boat also has generators to help power the passenger lift systems and air conditioners. The solar panels will meet approximately 75% of the boat’s energy requirements, while the rest will be produced by the generator. The boat is built in Sri Lanka for Rs 3.95 crore.

7. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju inaugurated the office of Legal Aid Defense Consultancy System in Budgam, Kashmir.

Union Law and Justice Minister  Kiren Rijiju  inaugurated   the office of Legal Aid Defense Consultancy System  at the ADR Center at the District Court Complex in   Budgam,  Kashmir . 9. Kalikesh Narayan as NRAI President

Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo  took   charge as the President of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) . 10. Delhi Airport ninth busiest airport in the world

Delhi  -based  Indira Gandhi International Airport  (IGI)   ranked  ninth among the busiest airports in the world in the year 2022 . Airports Council International (ACI)  has released statistics regarding this. According to ACI data, Delhi airport handled more than 5.94 crore passengers during this period. ACI said that in 2022 , Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport  (93.7 million passengers) ranked first among the world’s 10 busiest airports. It was followed by Dallas Fort Worth Airport (73.4 million passengers), Denver Airport (69.3 million passengers) third and Chicago O’Hare Airport (68.3 million passengers) at the fourth position.

11. RBI imposes penalty on Mahindra Finance, Indian Bank and Muthoot Money Ltd

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  has announced that it has fined  Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services LimitedIndian Bank , and  Muthoot Money Limited for violating regulatory norms. Punishment has been imposed. Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd has been fined Rs 6.77 crore for non-compliance with norms relating to disclosure of interest rates to loan borrowers at the time of loan sanction. Meanwhile, Indian Bank has been fined Rs 55 lakh for violating certain KYC norms, while Muthoot Money Ltd has been fined Rs 10.50 lakh for non-compliance with certain provisions of the ‘NBFCS (Reserve Bank) Guidelines, 2016’. Fine has been imposed. These fines reflect the RBI’s commitment towards regulatory compliance and promoting transparency and compliance in the Indian financial system.

12. Bihar’s famous Mircha Rice gets ‘GI Tag’

Mircha paddy  of   Bihar  ‘s  West  Champaran district  has got the Geographical Indication (GI) tag. According to the information published in the GI Journal, chilli paddy produced in West Champaran is an indigenous variety, whose shape is similar to black pepper. Chuda or Chiuda Mircha, a famous dish of Bihar all over the world, is made from paddy only. It is a fragrant variety of rice, which has been officially registered in the name of Chilli Rice Producers Progressive Group. However, this group will get the certificate for Mircha paddy by August.

13. Chhattisgarh’s Nagari Dubraj rice variety gets GI tag

The Geographical Indications Registry   has granted Geographical Indication (GI) tag to Nagari Dubraj  , a fragrant rice from  Chhattisgarh , to give a unique identity to the brand. The origin of Dubraj is believed to be from Shringi Rishi Ashram area of ​​Sihawa. Its reference is found in Valmiki Ramayana. Sihawa area is considered to be the source of Dubraj in various research papers. The rice is of local variety and its grains are small, the rice is very soft to eat after cooking. Maximum yield of six quintals is obtained from one acre. The height of the paddy plant is short and the maturity period is 140 days. It is produced by “Maa Durga Swashayata Group”, a women’s self-help group from Nagari in Dhamtari district and had applied for the GI tag.

14. Unveiling of 54 feet tall statue of Lord Hanuman in Gujarat

Home Minister  Amit Shah  has   unveiled a 54 feet tall statue of Lord Hanuman  at a temple in  Gujarat . The idol is made of copper and   is installed in the Hanuman temple located at Naranpura in Ahmedabad , which is near Shah’s village. The idol stands on a 48 feet high pedestal and was built by the Hanuman Seva Samiti attached to the temple at a cost of around ₹30 crore (US$4 million). It is considered to be one of the tallest Lord Hanuman idols in the world.

15. Global trade expected to grow 1.7% in 2023: WTO

The World Trade Organization (WTO) on April 5  revised its global trade growth outlook  for 2023  to  1.7 percent  from last October’s forecast of 1 percent. The World Trade Organization said in its forecast that trade growth for 2024 is expected to be 3.2 percent. However, the WTO said the forecast is highly uncertain and at a downside risk given the impact of ongoing global tensions, food supply problems and monetary policy tightening.

16. Panel set up to complete stalled real estate projects

The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs  has formed a committee to deal with the problem of incomplete real estate projects. The committee,   consisting of  14 members and headed by Amitabh Kant  , will focus on unfinished heritage projects and make recommendations for their completion. The committee was created in response to a recommendation made by the Central Advisory Council under the Real Estate (Investment and Development) Act, 2016.

17. Tsusumu Otani appointed as MD, CEO of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India  has announced that  Tsutsumu Otani  , Vice President, Honda Motor Company of  Japan  has been appointed as the new President, CEO and Managing Director. He will replace Atsushi Ogata, who will serve as the executive general manager of the branch of Honda Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. in Shanghai, China, with effect from April 1, 2023.

18. India’s growth rate will slow down to 6.4 percent in 2023-24: ADB

India’s  economic growth rate  is   expected to  decline to 6.4 percent  in  the current financial year (2023-24) .  Said this in the Asian Development Bank (ADB) . The ADB said that due to the tight monetary stance and the rise in oil prices, there will be pressure on the economy. The growth rate during the financial year ending March 2023 is estimated to be 6.8 percent. ADB, however, has expressed hope that the country’s economic growth rate will increase to 6.7 percent in 2024-25 due to a spurt in private consumption and private investment. Apart from this, government policies to improve transport infrastructure, logistics and business environment will also give a boost to the economy.

19. India ranked 101st in FIFA rankings, Argentina on top

The Indian football team   has improved five places to   be ranked 101st in the FIFA world rankings . India beat Myanmar (1-0) and Kyrgyzstan (2-0) in the tri-nation football tournament held in Imphal recently. India has a score of 1200.66 and is ranked 19th among 46 Asian countries. World champions  Argentina  have gained one place to   reach the top of the world rankings. After that there are teams from France, Brazil, Belgium, England, Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Portugal and Spain. In December last year, under the captaincy of Lionel Messi, Argentina won the FIFA World Cup title. France was defeated by them in the final. Japan is on top in Asia. India’s  Priyanshu Rajawat  has   won the title of Orleans Masters Super 300 badminton tournament . Priyanshu   defeated Magnus Johansen  of  Denmark 21-15, 19-21, 21-16 in the men’s singles final. 21. Dante Akira Uwai wins medal design competition for Winter Youth Olympics Gangwon 2024

Brazilian  artist  Dante Akira Uwai  has   won the medal design competition  for  the Winter Youth Olympics Gangwon 2024 . After 6 weeks and over 3,000 submissions in the International Olympic Committee competition, Akira Uwai’s creation – ‘A Sparkling Future’ – was selected by the panel.
