13.Power Ministry approves inter-state projects worth Rs 15,893 crore

Union Power Minister R.K. Singh said Rs 15,893 crore of 23 new inter-state transmission system projects approved. Out of 23 ISTS Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) projects, 13 projects have an estimated cost of Rs 14,766 crore. These projects will be developed under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB). While 10 projects with an estimated cost of Rs 1,127 crore will be developed under regulated tariff mechanism. The new transmission projects will facilitate the following:

  1. Clearance System for 14 GW Renewable Projects in Rajasthan
  2. 5 GW RE Projects in Gujarat
  3. 1 GW Solar Park in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh
  4. Establishment of a Siot sub-station in Jammu

16.NITI Aayog to set up 1,000 Atal Tinkering Labs in J&K

NITI Aayog has set up 1000 Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) in Jammu and Kashmir .planned to install. By the end of the financial year 2021-22, 187 out of 1000 Atal Tinkering Laboratories will be established. Out of 187 ATLs, 31 are being set up in government schools in J&K, while 50 will be set up in various educational institutions like KV, JNVs and private schools. The process of setting up the remaining 106 labs will be started soon. Apart from this, the department has also been asked to ensure regular maintenance of the infrastructure as well as equipment of these centers at par with other government departments. ATL is a sub-mission under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of the Central Government in India. This is a major initiative of AIM, Which strives to nurture an innovative mindset among high school students across India. It is an important government scheme administered under NITI Aayog. The initiative also seeks to promote cognitive development among children where they are provided opportunities to broaden their understanding on scientific ideas.
