1.PM to dedicate 2G ethanol plant to the nation at Panipat on August 10

On the occasion of World Biofuel Day , the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi , on August 10, 2022, through video conferencing, at the second generation (2G) ethanol plant at Panipat , Haryana .will dedicate to the nation. The move to dedicate this plant to the nation is part of a long series of steps taken by the government over the years to promote the production and use of biofuels in the country. This move is in line with the Prime Minister’s continued efforts to make the energy sector more affordable, accessible, efficient and sustainable. This 2G ethanol plant has been constructed by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at an estimated cost of over Rs 900 crore and is located near Panipat Refinery. Based on state-of-the-art indigenous technology, the project will open a new chapter in India’s efforts to generate wealth from waste by using about two lakh tonnes of rice straw annually to produce about 30 million liters of ethanol annually. .

2.Culture Ministry and Google launch ‘India Ki Udaan’ initiative

The Ministry of Culture has launched the initiative “ India Ki Udaan ” in collaboration with Google . The initiative seeks to celebrate the unwavering and immortal spirit of India and its achievements over the past 75 years . The ‘India Ki Udaan’ initiative has been launched as part of the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi . It is a celebration of the unbreakable and immortal spirit of India. It aims to acquaint the citizens about the rich culture and heritage of India through its rich archives and artistic paintings. The project is based on the theme ‘The Unbreakable and Immortal Spirit of India in the Last 75 Years’. Google Arts and Culture in collaboration with the Ministry of Culturebeing implemented by Under this initiative, users will be provided with a unique view to see India’s remarkable moments virtually. Users will be able to know more about the eminent personalities of Indian history, prominent women personalities as well as scientific and sports achievements of the country.

3.Uttar Pradesh Government signs MoU with Deloitte India

The Government of Uttar Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Deloitte India to support the economy of Uttar Pradesh by USD 1 trillion.To be appointed as a consultant to achieve the target of bringing The decision to appoint Deloitte India as an advisor was taken on July 19, 2022, on the recommendation of a high-powered committee. On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the time has come for Uttar Pradesh to take full advantage of its potential. It is going to become an important pillar of India’s multidimensional development. By 2027, the state is going to become a benchmark of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” policy with a $1 trillion economy. Deloitte will present a future course of action with in-depth discussions within the next 90 days. This plan will be prepared after conducting a field-wise study. The action plan will be examined by a high level committee headed by the Chief Secretary. The Group of Ministers will also review this action plan.

4.J&K Government launches Parwaz Market Linkage Scheme

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir recently launched “ Parvaz Market Linkage Scheme ”. It is an innovative market linkage scheme to uplift the economic condition of farmers across Jammu and Kashmir.has tremendous potential. Parwaz scheme was launched with an objective to create market linkage support for shipment of perishables of agriculture and horticulture from Jammu and Kashmir. Under this scheme, the government will provide a subsidy of 25% on freight charges for carrying perishable fruits through air cargo. The subsidy will be provided to the farmers through direct benefit transfer mode. The scheme is being implemented by the Jammu and Kashmir Horticulture Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (JKHPMC). JKHPMC is spreading awareness among farmers about the importance of Parwaz Scheme so that they can take advantage of it.

5.Dalai Lama conferred with Ladakh’s highest civilian honor

Tibetan religious leader Dalai Lama has been honored with the ‘ Dipal RNgam Dustan ‘ award , Ladakh ‘s highest civilian honour . The award has been conferred by the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) in recognition of his contribution in the field of service to humanity especially to the Union Territory.

6.Unity Small Finance Bank appoints Indrajit Kaimotra as its MD and CEO

Unity Small Finance Bank (SFB) Limited (Unity Bank) has appointed Inderjit Kaimotra as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of the bank. A senior banker with over 25 years of experience across India, Kaimotra has held various leadership positions at Standard Chartered Bank. In January 2022, the bank appointed former CAG of India Vinod Rai as its chairman. Camotra did his MBA from Clarkson University in New York. Kaimotra was previously the Executive Director of Centrum Financial Services Limited, and has been instrumental in the transformation of the company into a bank.

9.Virtual Foundation Laying of Indo-Israeli Center of Excellence for Vegetables by Union Agriculture Minister

The Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar , laid the virtual foundation stone of the Indo-Israel Center of Excellence for Vegetables in Chandauli (Uttar Pradesh) . Under the India-Israel Action Plan (IIAP), technology is provided by Israel to the Center of Excellence through Israeli experts, with funds to be provided from MIDH for building infrastructure with a view to demonstrate. Centers of Excellence (CoEs) are being set up in the States based on Israeli technologies. These Centers of Excellence act as demonstration and training centers for the latest technologies in the field of horticulture. They also serve as a source of planting material for planting fruits and vegetables for protected cultivation.

11.Joint exercise “Vajra Prahar, 2022” with US Special Forces begins in Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh

13th edition of Indo-US Joint Special Forces Exercise “ Vajra Prahar, 2022 ” Special Forces Training School (SFTS), Bakloh (Himachal Pradesh)started in The American contingent was represented by personnel from the First Special Forces Group (SFG) and Special Tactics Squadron (STS) of the US Special Forces, and the Indian contingent was formed by evacuating Special Forces led by the SFTS. The joint exercise of the series of Vajra Prahar is aimed at improving interoperability as well as sharing of best practices and experiences in areas such as joint mission planning and operational strategies between the special forces of the two countries. India and the US have alternately hosted this annual exercise. Its 12th edition took place in October 2021 at Joint Base Lewis McCord, Washington (USA).

The Indian Army in collaboration with the Indian Drone Association has launched the ‘ Him Drone-a-thon ‘ program on August 08, 2022 . In line with self-reliance in defense manufacturing, the initiative aims to catalyze and provide focused opportunities to the Indian drone ecosystem to develop leading-edge drone capabilities to meet the needs of the frontline contingent. The Indian Army’s support for an indigenous drone ecosystem is based on the principle that the ‘good available indigenously’ is better than the ‘best available globally’. However, the gradual increase in technology demanded by the defense forces is likely to encourage the creation of better and more capable drone products than ever before.

13.The 12th edition of Def-Expo will be held from October 18-22, 2022 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat

15.Indian Army organizes exercise ‘Skylight’

Indian Army recently organized “Skylight Mega- Exercise ” to enhance its space domain capabilities . This was the first large-scale exercise of its kind. The objective of the Skylight exercise was to test the operational readiness of satellite communication assets and to train the personnel manning these assets. Skylight Mega Exercise was a pan-India exercise, involving Lakshadweep and Andaman Islands . It also covered the highlands of India’s northern borders where the Indian Army had activated all satellite communication assets from July 25-29, 2022. During this exercise, several technical and operational scenarios in the space sector were explained. ISRO in this exerciseand saw the participation of other agencies responsible for the space and ground sectors. More than 280 platforms were tested in field formation. The Indian Army uses the services of several satellites by ISRO. These satellites are used to connect a variety of communication terminals, including transportable vehicle mounted terminals, stationary terminals, small form factors, etc.
