1 India’s defense exports all-time high

The country has taken a significant step forward towards becoming ‘atmanirbhar’ or self-reliant in defense exports. The Defense Minister on April 1 said  arms exports  to reach Rs 21,083 crore in financial year 2023-24, an  impressive growth of 32.5% over the previous financial year.  . India’s defense exports in the financial year 2022-23 were about Rs 16,000 crore. India has set an ambitious target of taking annual defense exports to Rs 35,000 crore by 2024-25. India supplies arms to more than 85 countries, including Italy, Maldives, Russia, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Egypt, Israel, Spain, Chile and others. India’s defense exports have seen significant growth in recent years, from Rs 686 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 21,083 crore in 2023-24. Nearly 100 companies in India are exporting defense products, and the Center has allocated Rs 6.21 lakh crore for the defense budget for 2024-25, 4.3% more than Rs 5.94 lakh crore allocated in the previous fiscal year.

The platform provides information on election misinformation, myths circulating on social media platforms, frequently asked questions on important topics and related content under various sections for all concerned. Information on this platform will be updated on regular basis.

4 Adani Total starts biogas production in Barsana, Uttar Pradesh

 Adani Total Energy Biomass Limited  (ATBL) , a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL),  has   commissioned the first phase of its  Barsana Biogas Plant at Shri Mataji Gaushala, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.  Adani Total Limited   is a joint venture between Adani Group  and  France  ‘s  Total Energies . The Barsana Biogas Project, which is being developed in three phases, will have  a total capacity of 600 tonnes of feedstock per day after its completion.  The project  will generate  42 tonnes of Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) per day  and  217 tonnes of organic manure per day. Expected to happen. According to the company, the plant will contribute to circular economy principles and agricultural sustainability.

5. Indian Air Force’s biggest exercise ‘Gagan Shakti’ in Pokhran

 The biggest exercise of the Indian Air Force,  Gagan Shakti,  is going on at the Pokaran Field Firing Range  in  Jaisalmer district  in  Rajasthan . This exercise will continue till April 10. In the exercise, all the major fighter aircraft and state-of-the-art helicopters of the Air Force are demonstrating their combat capabilities.

7 Technology Development Board-Department of Science & Technology supported M/s Remine India Pvt. Ltd., Uttarakhand to set up a facility for recycling of Lithium-ion batteries and e-waste

Technology Development Board (TDB)  on 27th March 2024 has  approved setting up of a commercial plant for recycling of lithium batteries and e-waste using indigenous technology  at ELDECO, SIIDCUL Industrial Area , Sitarganj  ,  District  Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand,  in  New Delhi.  “For  M/s Remine India Pvt. Ltd. “  An agreement has been signed with . Through this agreement, TDB has assured financial assistance of Rs 7.5 crore out of the total project cost of Rs 15 crore, which is an important step towards sustainable development and environmental management. This funded project involves setting up of a commercial plant for recycling of Lithium-ion batteries and e-waste, leveraging indigenous technology developed by the Center for Materials for Electronics Technology (CMET), Hyderabad.

8 Paradip Port to become India’s top cargo-handling major port in 2023-24

Paradip Port Authority, Odisha  has   displaced Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla as  India’s top cargo-handling major port in 2023-24  . In 2023-24, Paradip Port handled 145.38 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo. Paradip Port handled 10.02 million metric tons more cargo as compared to last year registering a growth of 7.4%. Paradip Port has a capacity to handle 289 million metric tonnes. Paradip Port has emerged as the country’s hub for coastal shipping. Paradip Port handled 59.19 million metric tonne shipping traffic and thermal coal coastal shipping handled 43.97 million metric tonne shipping traffic in 2023-24.

9 19 traditional products of Assam receive Geographical Indication tag

Nineteen traditional products and crafts  of  Assam  have been given the coveted Geographical Indication (GI) tag, thirteen of which  are attributed to the Bodo community  . These iconic items  include Assam Bihu Dhol, Jaapi, Sarthebari Metal Craft  and more. These products have rich historical significance and provide direct assistance to approximately one lakh people.  Assamese Bihu Dhol  The two-headed drum is an iconic musical instrument of the folk culture of Assam, played with both sticks and hands.  Assamese Jaapi  Tokou Pat and a traditional bamboo hat made of densely woven bamboo or cane are a symbol of pride in Assam and were historically used for protection from sun and rain.  Sarthebari Metal Craft  The handicraft industry of Barpeta, known for its bell-metal products, employs about 2000 artisans.  Panimeteka Craft (Hyacinth) , this product made from water hyacinth has got recognition.  Mising tat (handloom) , hand-woven fabric made by the Mising community plays an important role in Assamese culture.  The beautiful terracotta works of A Sharikandi  are an essential part of Assamese cultural heritage.

Delhi University  has   secured first position in  the classical instrument solo (percussion) category in the 37th National Inter-University Youth Festival ‘Hunar’  . Apart from this, the university has also secured first position in the classical dance category. On the other hand, DU team stood second in the vocal solo category. Teams from Delhi University participated in a total of four categories in this festival organized at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana from March 28 to April 1.

11 Jammu and Kashmir: Karman Singh’s invention gets patent from Britain

 Lieutenant Governor of  Union Territory  Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha  met young innovator Master Karman Singh  at Raj Bhawan, Jammu  . Karman Singh has obtained a patent from Britain for ‘ Nutan Smart Dustbin ‘. This smart dustbin is capable of classifying and monitoring waste for disposal. The Lieutenant Governor congratulated 15 year old Karman Singh for this achievement. He  is a class 10 student of Jodhamal Public School, Jammu  . Karman   has become one of the youngest innovators in India to receive a patent from the UK . This invention of Karman is an important step towards realizing the government’s dream of waste management in cities and establishment of smart cities in the country.

12 Maharashtra Men’s and Women’s National Kho Kho Champions

Maharashtra  team  won both the men’s and women’s titles  in  the 56th National Kho Kho Championship 2023-24 held at Karnail Singh Stadium  and  Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium  in  Delhi . The winning team received prize money of Rs 3 lakh and a trophy. The runner-up was awarded prize money of Rs 2 lakh and a trophy. In the final match played at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium,  Maharashtra men’s team defeated Indian Railways team . In the women’s category,  the Maharashtra team  captained by  Sampada Maurya  won the title by defeating the Airport Authority of India team by 18-16 points. The 56th National Kho Kho Championship 2023-24 was organized by Kho Kho Federation of India from 28 March to 1 April 2024 at Karnail Singh Stadium and Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Delhi.
