1.Professor Neena Gupta honored with Ramanujan Prize for Young Mathematicians
Dr. Neena Gupta , a mathematician professor at the Indian Statistical Institute , Kolkata , has been honored with the Ramanujan Prize for Young Mathematicians . He was presented this award in a virtual ceremony on February 22, 2022. He has received this award for the year 2021 for his outstanding work in allied algebraic geometry and commutative algebra . Department of Science and Technology (DST) , Government of India in collaboration with ICTP (International Center for Theoretical Physics) and International Mathematical Union (IMU )Funded by this award, it is awarded every year to a researcher from a developing country. The award is given to young mathematicians below the age of 45.Awarded to those who have done outstanding research in a developing country. Supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the award is presented in the memory of Srinivasa Ramanujan. Srinivasa Ramanujan who was a genius in pure mathematics, made his own brilliant contributions to the analytic theory of ellipsoidal functions, continued fractions, infinite series and numbers by self-study. Professor Gupta received the Indian National Science Academy’s (NSA) Young Scientist Award in 2014 for his solution to the Jariski cancellation problem, a fundamental problem in algebraic geometry. The NSA called their solution ‘one of the best works in algebraic geometry anywhere in recent years’ As was told. This problem was put forward in 1949 by Oscar Jarrisky, one of the most famous founders of modern algebraic geometry.
2.Approval for setting up a memorial for Khasi freedom fighter U Tirot Singh at the Embassy of India in Dhaka

3.Assam becomes first state in the country to launch night navigation mobile app in rivers
Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma has launched India’s first Night Navigation Mobile Application for ferry services on the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati , Assam . The CM also introduced an e-ticketing system for Dhubri and Silchar ferry services. An MoU was also signed between the Common Service Centers (CSCs) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the State Transport Department to provide online services at the Panchayat level.

The Chief Minister also announced to revive the old pension scheme for the employees who were appointed after January 1, 2004.

7.Indian Railways is building the country’s first cable rail bridge in Jammu and Kashmir
Indian Railways has shared new photos of the country’s first cable-stayed bridge over Anji river in Jammu and Kashmir ‘s Reasi district . Anji Khad Bridge , Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project under constructionwhich will connect Katra and Reasi areas through rail links. The bridge will stand at 331 meters above the river bed – higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The bridge has a total length of 473.25 meters and is supported by 96 cables. The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link is considered to be one of the toughest projects undertaken in the Indian subcontinent. The bridge is designed to withstand storms and strong winds. The construction of the bridge is very challenging given the complex geology of the high altitude region. Railways has divided the 272 km long rail link into three sub-divisions.

17.Indian Air Force to participate in Cobra Warrior exercise in England

19.SEBI reconstitutes advisory committee on alternative investment policy headed by NR Narayana Murthy

The committee now has 20 members. The panel constituted by SEBI in March 2015 had earlier 22 members. The committee has so far submitted three reports on the AIF industry. Telecom operator, Bharti Airtel Limited has announced that it has joined the South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 6 (SEA-ME-WE-6) undersea cable consortium to enhance its high-speed global network capability.to scale up and serve India’s rapidly growing digital economy. It will anchor 20 per cent of the total investment in the cable system. Through SEA-ME-WE-6, Airtel will be able to add 100 Tbps capacity to its global network. The telco will roll out the SEA-ME-WE-6 cable system in India at new landing stations in Mumbai and Chennai. Apart from Airtel, the consortium has 12 other global members. SEA-ME-WE 6 is a proposed optical fiber submarine communications cable system to carry telecommunications between Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Western Europe. SEA-ME-WE-6 is a 19,200 km network, which will run from Singapore to France. Its bandwidth will be 120 Tbps. The system is going to go live in 2025. Once commissioned, it will be one of the largest undersea cable systems globally.

The Reserve Bank of India has alerted citizens that a car-pooling application named ‘ sRIDE ‘ is being run without the required permissions. The Reserve Bank has said in a press release that Gurgaon – based sRide Tech Private Limited is operating a wallet without obtaining necessary permission under the provisions of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007 . The bank said that any person dealing with sRide Tech Pvt Ltd will act at their own risk. Alerting users of this app, the Reserve Bank has urged them to check the list of authorized payment system providers from the Reserve Bank’s website before making payments.
