1. Former Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel honored with UNESCO Peace Prize

 Former  German Chancellor Angela Merkel  has   been awarded the UNESCO Peace Prize for her decision to welcome more than 1.2 million migrants to Germany despite resistance from the country and European partners . All jury members, including jury chair and 2018 Nobel Peace Prize winner Denis Mukwege, chose Merkel for the honor after being impressed by her courageous decision to welcome more than 1.2 million refugees from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Eritrea in 2015. In the 2005 national elections, Merkel became the first female Chancellor of Germany, and one of the leading figures of the European Union. On 14 March 2014, she became Chancellor of Germany for the fourth and last time. Before joining politics, she was working as a research scientist.

2. Appasaheb Dharmadhikari honored with Maharashtra Bhushan Award

The Maharashtra government  announced that  the  ‘ Maharashtra Bhushan ‘ award for 2022  will be given to social activist  Dattatreya alias Appasaheb Dharmadhikari . Maharashtra Bhushan   is the highest award of the state government . The Maharashtra Bhushan award consists of a medal, a citation and Rs 25 lakh. Born on May 14, 1946, Dharmadhikari Negat has been working as a social reformer for the last 30 years to eradicate superstition and de-addiction in tribal settlements. Dharmadhikari has completed primary and secondary education in Revdanda, Raigad. Since childhood, he was interested in Kirtan, Bhajan, Spirituality and reading. Dharmadhikari is also known as Swachhata Doot. Appasaheb’s father Dr. Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari was also involved in social service.

3. India’s first National Metro Rail Knowledge Center to be built in Delhi

GA Infra Pvt Ltd  has been awarded the contract to design and build the country’s first National Metro Rail Knowledge Center  in February 2023  . The center  will be located at Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station  in  Delhi  and will be built on the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The center will provide training and capacity building opportunities for metro rail professionals.

4. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah presented ‘President’s Colour’ to Haryana Police in Karnal

Union Minister for Home and Cooperation  Shri Amit Shah  presented   ‘President’s Colour’ to Haryana Police in Karnal, Haryana . On this occasion, Chief Minister of Haryana Mr. Manohar Lal, Speaker of Vidhansabha Mr. Gyanchand Gupta, State Home Minister Mr. Anil Vij and Director General of Haryana Police Mr. PK Aggarwal were also present along with many dignitaries.

5. Union Jal Shakti Minister presides over the inaugural session of Dhara-2023 held in Pune

Union Jal Shakti Minister  Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat  chaired  the inaugural session of Dhara-2023  (Holistic Campaign for Urban Rivers)  held in  Pune . It was organized   by National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG)  and  National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) . Dhara is the annual meeting of the members of the River Cities Alliance (RCA). It provides a platform for senior officials including commissioners, additional commissioners, chief engineers and senior planners from over 100 member cities in India to co-learn and discuss solutions to manage local water resources.

6. Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare organizes ‘Cycle Rally for Health – Cyclothon’ at Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi

 The Union Ministry  of Health and Family Welfare  organized a ‘ Cycle Rally for Health’ – Cyclothon  at   Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi . Faculty, staff and students participated in large numbers. Cyclothon, cycle rally and mega cycling programs are being organized in 1 lakh 56 thousand Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centers. These activities are part of the year-long “Healthy Mind, Healthy Home” campaign launched in November last year.

7. Science Center and Planetarium to be built in Kota, Rajasthan

Science center and planetarium  will be constructed  in   Kota  , Rajasthan . It will be one of the best science centers and planetariums in the world. Rs 35 crore 25 lakh  will be spent on its construction  . In this regard,   an MoU was signed by the Central Council of Science Museums and the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Rajasthan.

8. UPI 123Pay now available in over 20 regional languages ​​through collaboration between UPI and National Language Translation Mission (Mission Bhashini)

Mission Bhashini  ‘s capabilities   to make digital payments through  UPI 123 Pay,  available in  over 20 local Indian languages, recently  Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has been associated with. Bhashini aims to provide a national digital platform for language, using Artificial Intelligence and other emerging Natural Language technologies to develop an inclusive ecosystem of contributors, partner organizations and citizens, for a self-reliant India beyond the barriers of language. Will ensure digital inclusion and digital empowerment of all. This will help in providing easy access to internet and digital services to all Indians in their native languages. UPI 123 Pay is an instant payment system that will allow users to do UPI transactions without internet connection. It has been launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

9. Apple working on MicroLED screen

Apple  reportedly working on   a  new display technology called Micro-LEDs is working on what is being touted as the next big thing in the display industry. Micro-LEDs are self-luminous diodes that produce higher brightness and better color reproduction than Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display technology. Micro-LED technology is based on the use of sapphire, which is known for its ability to glow indefinitely. The technology involves the use of tiny light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that are combined together to produce greater brightness and higher-quality displays. Unlike OLED displays, micro-LED displays use inorganic materials such as gallium nitride. A micro-LED is as small as 200th of a centimeter hair. Each of these micro-LEDs is a semiconductor that receives an electrical signal. Once these micro-LEDs are assembled, So they form a module. Several modules are combined to form a screen.

10. ‘Khanan Prahari’ mobile app launched to curb illegal mining

Government of India  has launched  a mobile app called  ” Khanin Prahari ” and a web app Coal Mine Monitoring and Management System  to report unauthorized coal mining activities. (Coal Mine Surveillance and Management System- CMSMS) has been launched. This mobile app has been developed by the Ministry of Coal to enable citizens to report incidents of illegal coal mining using geo-tagged photographs from the location of the incident and information in the form of text. The legislative measures taken in this regard include the Coal Mines (Nationalisation) Act, 1973; Mineral Concession Rules, 1960; The Collieries Control Rules, 2004. The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957. In addition, concrete walls have been constructed at the mouths of abandoned mines to prevent illegal activities and access to these areas. Also the existing Security/CISF personnel are being trained and committees/task forces have been constituted at various levels in some of the subsidiaries of CIL (Coal India Ltd.) to monitor various aspects of illegal mining.

11. APEDA completes 37 years of its journey

Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) ,   established through an Act of Parliament  in the year 1986 , Ministry of Commerce and Industry works under. APEDA is empowered to promote export of agricultural commodities. In addition, APEDA has also been entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring the import of sugar. In line with the ideas of ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, APEDA is focusing on promoting exports of indigenous, ethnic agricultural products along with locally acquired GI (Geographical Indications). India has become the world’s eighth largest exporter of agricultural products with exports of USD 24.77 billion in FY 2021-22, based on World Trade Organization trade data. Some of the recent initiatives of APEDA include Farmer Connect Portal, Varanasi Agri-Export Hub (VAEH); Bajra portal is included for the promotion of Bajra etc.

12. ESIC launches Nirman se Shakti initiative

Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has launched an initiative called ‘ Nirman Se Shakti ‘  to modernize the infrastructure . Upgradation/modernization of ESI Scheme hospitals and dispensaries in a phased manner in ‘Nirman Se Shakti’ initiative, standard design preparation for 100/200/500 bedded hospitals with better modern facilities, supervision, new facilities to ensure quality of construction Adoption of building technologies as well as digitization of land/property documents, online real-time dashboard for project monitoring etc. The Employees’ State Insurance Scheme (ESIC), under the Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948, is a multidimensional social security system designed to provide socio-economic security to the working population and their dependents covered under the scheme.

13. CRPF pays tribute to 40 jawans martyred in Pulwama terror attack

 On  14 February 2019,  there was a terrorist attack on jawans in Avantipora, Pulwama . 40 soldiers were martyred in this attack. On February 14, tributes were paid to these martyred soldiers across the country. CRPF and other security forces paid tribute to the 40 jawans who lost their lives in the terror attack. There was a terrorist attack on the CRPF convoy in Avantipora, Pulwama. A car full of explosives had rammed into the convoy.  In the early hours of  February 26, 2019,  several fighter jets of  the Indian Air Force  bombed the terrorist camps of the terrorist organization Jaish in Balakot , Pakistan, in which about 500 terrorists were killed. Following the air strike in Balakot, the Pakistan Air Force tried to retaliate by attacking Indian military installations in Jammu and Kashmir, which was thwarted by the Indian Air Force.

14. Financial Literacy Week 2023 – Reserve Bank of India

The Reserve Bank of India  observes  Financial Literacy Week (FLW) every year since 2016 to disseminate financial education messages  on a specific topic among the public of the country.   is conducting. The theme selected for the current year’s FLW is “Good Financial Practices, Protect You”, which will be celebrated from February 13 to 17, 2023. The theme is aligned with the overall strategic objectives of the National Strategy for Financial Education: 2020-2025, which aims to create awareness and sustain the interest of the general public by creating financial resilience. In this, the focus will be on creating awareness about savings, planning and budgeting and judicious use of digital financial services. A centralized mass media campaign will be launched by the Reserve Bank of India during the month of February 2023 to disseminate financial awareness messages. Banks have also been advised to disseminate information and create awareness among their customers.

15. Paytm releases a QR code with G20 theme to celebrate India’s Presidency

 In honor of  India’s  G20 Presidency and the country’s prominence in mobile payments, One97 Communications Ltd ,  owner of  top payments and financial services startup Paytm  , unveiled  a special  G20-themed QR code . Union Minister for Railways and IT Ashwini Vaishnav introduced the QR code at the “ Digital Payments Fest ” at India Habitat Centre . The QR code includes the logo of the ‘ DigiDhan Mission ‘ of the Ministry of Information and Technology as well as the logos of G20 2023 and India’s 75th year of independence.

16. Khelo India Winter Games Concludes in Gulmarg

The third edition   of  Khelo India Winter Games  concluded with a grand ceremony in Gulmarg . More than 2000 participants including sportspersons, tourists and officials from various departments participated in the occasion. Jammu and Kashmir  topped the medal tally by winning 26 gold medals, 25 silver medals, 25 bronze medals. After this,  Maharashtra  came second by winning 13 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze medals. Himachal Pradesh  secured the third position with 10 gold, 14 silver and 7 bronze, while Services bagged 10 gold, 10 silver and 9 bronze medals.

17. Fifth edition of Khelo India Youth Games concludes

The fifth edition  of  Khelo India Youth Games  concluded on 11 February. Maharashtra   topped the medal tally by winning 161 medals including 56 gold  . While  Haryana  stood second with 128 medals including 41 gold. Host Madhya Pradesh  secured the third position  in the medal table by winning a total of 96 medals including 39 gold, 30 silver and 27 bronze medals. This is the best performance of the state so far in Khelo India. The Games were hosted in Madhya Pradesh   from  31 January 2023 to 11 February 2023 . For the first time water sports  namely Kayaking Canoeing, Canoe Salute and Fencing were part of this edition of Khelo India Games.It was organized in  eight different cities of the state These eight host cities are Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Maheshwar, Mandla and Balaghat. The 4th Khelo India Youth Games was held at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula (Haryana) from June 4 to 13, 2022 , while some matches were also played in Chandigarh.

18. Real Madrid win Club World Cup for record fifth time

Spanish football club Real Madrid  has won the FIFA Club World Cup title  for the fifth time in 9 years  . Vinicius Junior scored twice and Karim Benzema scored an assist as Real Madrid beat Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal 5–3 in the Club World Cup final. Riyal won their fifth title by defeating Al Hilal. At the same time, before this, this club had also won three continental cups. The final match was played at the Prince Moulay Abdullah Stadium in Rabat, the capital of Morocco.

19. Birth anniversary of Sarojini Naidu

Sarojini Naidu  ‘s birth anniversary is celebrated  on  13 February . She was known as the Indian Nightingale ( Sarojini Naidu – The Nightingale of India ).  Sarojini Naidu’s birth anniversary is celebrated as National Women’s Day in India  . Sarojini Naidu was an Indian independence activist, poet and politician. He was born  on February 13, 1879 in Hyderabad, India. After the partition of Bengal in the year 1905, she   joined the Indian National Movement . The British Government honored Sarojini Naidu with the ‘ Kaiser-i-Hind ‘ medal  for her outstanding service during the plague epidemic in India  . Sarojini Naidu   in  the year 1925 (Kanpur session) She was elected as the first Indian woman President of the Indian National Congress (INC) and held the position till 1928. Annie Besant was the first woman president of the Congress who presided over it in the year 1917. Naidu actively participated in the non-cooperation movement launched by Gandhi in the year 1920 and was arrested several times for her involvement in various independence activities. In 1930, Naidu was selected by Gandhi to lead the Salt Satyagraha, a non-violent protest against the British monopoly on salt production in India. In 1942, Sarojini Naidu was arrested during the “Quit India” movement and imprisoned for 21 months along with Gandhiji. He died on March 2, 1949 in Lucknow, India.

20. National Women’s Day

 The birthday of  the first woman Governor (United Provinces of Agra and Oudh) Sarojini Naidu  is celebrated as National Women’s Day every year in India   on  13 February . The proposal to celebrate this day was made by the members of the Indian Women’s Association and the All India Women’s Conference. It is noteworthy that National Women’s Day is on 13 February, while  International Women’s Day is on 8 March.  is celebrated. Sarojini Naidu was born on February 13, 1879. He started writing poems at the young age of 12. His literary works include The Golden Threshold, The Bird of Time, The Magic Tree, The Wizard’s Mask, The Septred Flute: Songs of India, The Indian Weavers, etc. She also has the distinction of being the first woman governor of India. Sarojini Naidu played an active role in the Indian National Movement for the independence of the country. In the year 1925, she became the President of the Indian National Congress. She was one of the foremost leaders who led the Civil Disobedience Movement and Quit India Movement. He died of a heart attack on March 2, 1949. The celebration of National Women’s Day in the country was started on her 135th birth anniversary i.e. on February 13, 2014.

21. Famous painter Lalita Lajmi passed away at the age of 90

Renowned painter  Lalita Lajmi  passed away at the age of 90.  She was the sister of late actor-filmmaker  Guru Dutt . Lalita Lajmi was born in 1932 in Kolkata. His father was a poet and mother a writer. Being from an artistic family, she was very interested in classical dance and painting.
