2 Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda launched Learning Management System, Krishi Rakshak Portal, Helpline and Sarathi Initiative under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Tribal Affairs  Shri Arjun Munda  launched  centralized “ Kisan Rakshak Helpline 14447 and portal ”  under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)Agri-Insurance Sandbox Framework Platform SARTHI (SARTHI)  and  Learning Management for the farming community. System (LMS) platform  launched in Delhi. He said that this will benefit the insured farmers and their risk will also reduce. Shri Munda said that the Krishi Rakshak Portal and Helpline is an integrated grievance redressal mechanism in which a digital portal and a call center have been developed. In this, farmers will be able to register complaints, concerns and questions. The innovative SARATHI (Sandbox for Agriculture and Rural Security, Technology and Insurance) platform offers insurance products covering health, life, property, farm equipment, motor property and catastrophe risks. Mr Munda said the Learning Management System has been designed for training of stakeholders in implementing major agricultural schemes across the country.

3 Government presented White Paper in Parliament; Said- Every challenge of the era before 2014 was overcome through its economic management.

The government   presented a white paper on the Indian economy in Parliament. It said  every challenge before 2014  was addressed through proper economic management and governance with right policies, true intentions and right decisions. The white paper tabled in both Houses of Parliament by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said it has put the country on a firm path to sustained high growth. The white paper said that when the Narendra Modi government came to power in 2014, the economy was in a fragile state and the financial position was poor. The crisis was caused by economic mismanagement and financial indiscipline, as well as widespread corruption, it said. The purpose of the White Paper is  to make members of Parliament and the people of the country aware of the nature and extent of governance and the economic and fiscal crises  . The present Government has adopted strong policies and measures to revive the economy and make it strong and capable of meeting the development aspirations of the people in the present and future.

4 Parliament has passed the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Bill 2024

Parliament  has   passed the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Bill 2024 . The Bill   will amend the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1974 . This Act  establishes Central and State Pollution Control Boards to prevent and control water pollution  . The Bill decriminalizes many violations and imposes penalties.

5 India ranks 38th out of 139 countries in World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index Report 2023; India’s rank has improved by 16 places from 54th in 2014.

According to the World Bank’s ‘Logistics Performance Index Report (2023): Connecting to Competitiveness 2023’, India is ranked 38th out of 139 countries. India’s rank has improved by six places from 44 in 2018 and by 16 places from 54 in 2014. A dedicated inter-ministerial team has been constituted comprising the concerned Ministries/Departments. These ministries/departments focus on targeted action plans with necessary efforts to improve logistics performance in all six LPI parameters i.e. customs, infrastructure, ease of arranging shipments, quality of logistics services, tracking and tracing and timeliness . Hon’ble Prime Minister launched PM GatiShakti National Master Plan for Multimodal Connectivity on 13 October 2021 and National Logistics Policy on 17 September 2022 to improve logistics efficiency and reduce logistics costs.

6 Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari presented the interim budget in the Assembly.

Rajasthan Deputy  Chief  Minister  and  Finance Minister Diya Kumari  presented the interim budget in the Assembly.  The full budget for 2024-25  will be presented in July. One thousand crore rupees have been announced for the establishment of schools, colleges and hospitals in the assembly constituencies. The Finance Minister  also announced the Chief Minister Vishwakarma Pension Scheme for laborers and street vendors  . Other major announcements   include recruitment for 77 thousand posts  and  Mukhyamantri Jal Swavalamban Abhiyan  to create  5 lakh water harvesting systems in 20 thousand villages in the next four years .  There is a provision of Rs 11,200 crore for this  . The Finance Minister said that   a detailed project report will be prepared to extend Jaipur Metro from Sitapura to Ambabadi  . 

7 Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad became the first foreign leader to visit Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Fiji  ‘s Deputy Prime Minister  Biman Prasad   has become the first foreign leader to visit the Ram temple in Ayodhya . Shri Prasad had darshan of Shri Ramlala along with a six-member delegation. He said that the temple of Shri Ramlala will further strengthen the relations between Fiji and India. He said that Fiji’s administration, justice and policy-making are also inspired by the life of Lord Rama. He also said that there is a holiday in Fiji on the day of Diwali festival.

9 Assam Public Examinations (Measures to Prevent Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill, 2024

The Assam government  recently   introduced the Assam Public Examinations (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill, 2024, similar to the proposed central law. The law is a follow-up to the Assam Public Examinations (Measures to Prevent Unfair Means in Recruitment) Ordinance issued by the Assam Cabinet in October 2023. The draft law aims to curb  cheating and malpractices during examinations in the state through strict penalties.  The primary objective of the Bill is to provide effective measures to prevent and prevent offenses relating to leaking of question papers and use of unfair means in public examinations for recruitment to any State Government post. It includes posts of autonomous bodies, authorities, boards and corporations.

10 Cameroon adopted the Nagoya Protocol

Cameroon  , a Central African country boasting of  rich biodiversity  with  about 11,000 species of plants, animals and microorganisms,  has recently   adopted the Nagoya Protocol  on Access and Benefit Sharing, an agreement under  the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD) . The purpose of the Nagoya Protocol is to promote the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising from the use of genetic resources. Many genetic resources or genetic information found in different types of plants, animals and microbes for the manufacture of medicines or crop production are considered important in preserving traditional knowledge. Traditional knowledge refers to the understanding, inventions and methods that indigenous and local communities have developed in relation to these resources.

11 EU’s new climate target for 2040

The European Union  (EU) recently   presented  its latest proposed 2040 climate targets , which  outline a net emissions reduction target of 90% by 2040 compared to 1990 baseline levels. The EU’s previous target, set in September 2020, aimed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 55% below 1990 levels by 2030, with a commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Was incorporated into EU climate law. To meet the target, the European Commission released a “Fit for 55” package in 2021, which provided a set of proposals to achieve the 2030 reduction target. The latest proposal in 2024 is a medium-term step mandated by EU Climate Law, six months after the first Global Stocktake (GST) held during the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC in Dubai. Outlines the process of developing goals for the year 2040 within a month. The proposal highlights the need for a significant reduction in coal use by 2040, with natural gas expected to decline rapidly and oil being the last component to be phased out. However, some fossil fuels will remain in use for non-energy purposes and long-distance transportation.

12 RRI’s new technology will further improve the imaging of cold atoms

 Scientists at  India’s  Raman Research Institute (RRI)  have developed  a new image-enhancement algorithm that  significantly improves images used to study ultracold atoms . Advanced imaging promises to unlock a deeper understanding of interesting quantum mechanical properties of atoms at temperatures near absolute zero. Currently, magneto-optical traps coupled with laser cooling techniques allow close study of elements such as sodium, potassium and rubidium atoms cooled to extreme temperatures. However, the fluorescence, absorption, and phase-contrast imaging methods traditionally used to detect nuclear behavior have some major image drawbacks.

13 DigiReady Certification Portal launched to promote digital inclusion in  Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises sector

Quality Council of India  and   Open  Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC)  launched DigiReady Certification Portal  to promote  digital inclusion  in  Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises sector . On this occasion, Council Chairman Jakshay Shah said that this initiative is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to encourage digital transactions in villages. The objective of this portal is to seamlessly integrate Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and small retailers.

14 India defeated Bangladesh to win SAFF Under-19 Women’s Football Championship

 India   won the four-nation SAFF Under-19 Women’s Football Championship title in Dhaka .  The match between  India and  Bangladesh in the final was decided  by a coin toss after a penalty shootout . The match remained tied at 1-1 till the stipulated time. After this, in the penalty shootout, all eleven players of both the teams converted their penalties. Earlier, Sibani Devi gave India the lead in the 8th minute and India maintained the lead for almost the entire match. Bangladesh striker Sagorika scored a goal in extra time to level the match at 1 each.
