1.World Book Day 2019: 23 April:-

World Book Day is celebrated by UNESCO and other related organisations every year on the 23rd of April.Also called the World Book and Copyright Day, it is an occasion to promote the joy of books and the art of reading.23rd April was selected by UNESCO to pay tribute to great literary figures including William Shakespeare, Miguel Cervantes and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega who died on this day.This date was finalised in the year 1995 in the UNESCO General Conference, held in Paris, to honour authors and books worldwide.

2.IIM-Bangalore becomes only Indian institute to feature in QS EMBA Rankings 2019:-

The Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) has once again made a mark at the global level.The institute’s post-graduate programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM) has secured the 12th rank in APAC listing and came 61st globally in the QS Executive MBA Rankings 2019.It is the only Indian B-school to secure a place among the top 100 B-Schools across the world.QS Rankings uses parameters such as leadership, executive profile, diversity, career outcomes, etc, for ranking.

3.Integrated farming is necessary to increase livestock productivity and doubling the income of farmers: Vice President:- 

helps the farmers to deal with the financial crisis; It is the duty of every citizen to protect livestock; Animal wealth is national wealth; Shri Venkateswara visited Veterinary Clinical Museum, addressed to the 8th Convocation of Veterinary University.Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has stressed on encouraging integrated farming to increase productivity of livestock and double the income of farmers.in the inaugural address of 8th convocation of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University of Tirupati, Shri Naidu said that focusing on animal husbandry is very important to ensure a sustainable and inclusive agricultural system.Quoting a study report, Shri Naidu said that there is no incident of suicide in farming families adopting various activities like poultry , dairy or fishery. He said that in the event of loss of livestock , the opposite season and the crop, the farmer helps the families recover from the financial crisis. Referring to data and estimates of National Sample Survey Organization-NSSO, the Vice President said that there are an estimated 90.2 million agricultural households in rural India. Everyone should have primary responsibility for ensuring a certain income for them.   The Vice President said that to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth in India a healthy and strong agricultural sector is an important condition.He called upon the youth especially to make agriculture economically viable and beneficial and to find ways to adopt them as an attractive career. He said that the agriculture industry contributes 17 percent of India’s gross domestic product , of which 27 percent is of animal husbandry and 4.4 percent is of dairy , poultry and fishery.  The Vice President said that these figures explain the important role played by these sectors in our economy.Terming livestock as an integral part of the lives of people and their presence as the key to human survival, Shri Naidu said that it is the duty of every citizen to preserve this national property.Agriculture and allied sectors like poultry , dairy , citing the rural economy’s dependence on industries, Mr. Naidu said the sector provides employment to the youth in large numbers in the countryside. Shri Naidu urged universities to encourage research on veterinary science.Vice President urged the government , agricultural scientists and Krishi Vigyan Kendra to encourage diversity in affiliated industries to keep the financial condition of farmers strong. He said that to ensure the benefit of population force it is important to ensure food security in the country.Shri Naidu said that there is great potential to contribute to employment and economic development in poultry , fisheries , silk farming and other such industries. He also emphasized the need to preserve the indigenous breeds and improve their productivity. He urged the universities to cooperate with each other constantly to find solutions to the problems faced by the farmers and to make use of human resource enhancement and technology development in better use with the industries .       Expressing concern over differences in the demand and supply of veterinarians in India,  Shri Naidu asked the officers to expand the R & D activities in theeducational institutions to meet the needs of the farmers and to fill vacancies in institutions instantly Work. He said that he wants that all the Veterinary Universities and Agricultural Universities, especially in the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the IT Department, to use endless possibilities of technology.Shri Naidu said that love for nature and animals has been the root of Indian ethos. Under this, various flora and fauna have been considered as an expression of the same divine principle prevailing in the entire universe. He said that India’s commitment towards conservation of the biodiversity of the Earth can not be found more clearly than ancient Indian epics. He said that “our global vision was based on a symbiotic relationship between humanity and nature. This is the thing which makes us realize sustainable development goals which we have set for ourselves as a world community.On this occasion, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh and the Vice Chancellor of the University, Mr. E.S.L. Dr. Narasimhan , Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Y. Hari Babu, faculty members and students were present.The Vice-President later visited the University Veterinary Clinical Museum and appreciated the efforts of the University to provide the best services for the veterinary services in the country. He said that this museum will give students and researchers studying in veterinary field a lot to learn. Dr. N.R. Gopal is the Chief Operator of the University Veterinary Clinical Department. More than 500 samples of animal diseases in the museum have been preserved since 1960. Many great scientists of the world and historical achievements of the fields of medical science are also shown in the museum.

4.External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said – 17 coordinators appointed for the help of Indians leaving Libya:-

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has said that 17 coordinators have been appointed to help the people who leave Libya . In a tweet Mrs Swaraj said that the Indian Embassy is also helping to get an exit visa for those Indians whose visa has expired. He said that the airport is open at this time. Smt. Swaraj requested Indians living in Libya to take advantage of this opportunity.

5.Shri Rajendra Kumar Nayak Took Over as CGDA:-

Shri Rajendra Kumar Nayak took over as the 52nd Controller General of Defence Accounts.He is from the Indian Defence Accounts Service of 1983 batch.Shri Nayak has held important assignments in the Defence Accounts Department and on deputation in the Government of India.He was Additional Controller General of Defence Accounts, Defence Accounts Department, Ministry of Defence before taking over as the CGDA.

6.Indonesia releases special postage stamp on Ramayana:-

Indonesia has issued a special postage stamp on the Ramayana in celebration of the 70th anniversary of political relations with India.In the release of the Indian Embassy in Jakarta, it has been told that the famous artist of Indonesia, Padmashri Bapu, Newman Neutta has designated this postal stamp, in which the battle of Jatayu to protect Sita is related to the epic Ramayana. Indian Ambassador Pradeep Kumar Rawat and Indonesia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abdurrahman Mohammad Fakir were also present on the occasion.

7.Nobel Prize announcements for 2019 to take place in October:-

Nobel Prize announcements for 2019 will take place in the month of October. The Nobel Prize is issued in the fields of Physiology or Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, and Peace every year. The winner of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel will also be announced.  There are 301 candidates for the award in these fields, of which 223 are individuals and 78 are organizations. The Nobel Peace Prize awardee will be named on October 11.

8.Asian Athletics C’hips: India bag four medals on final day; finish fourth:-

India bagged four medals, including a Gold, on the final day of the Asian Athletics Championships at Doha in Qatar yesterday. PU Chitra successfully defended her Women’s 1,500 metres Gold she had won in 2017, while Ajay Kumar Saroj in Men’s 1,500 metres and the Women’s 4×400 metres relay team clinched a silver each. Sprinter Dutee Chand added a bronze in Women’s 200 metres race.In the Men’s 4×400 metres relay, India was initially declared to have won a Silver, but the jury later disqualified the team for impeding an athlete after protest by China. India filed an appeal against the jury’s decision but it was rejected.India ended at the fourth spot in the medals tally with 3 Gold, 7 Silver and 7 Bronze. Bahrain topped the table with 11 Gold, 7 Silver and 4 Bronze. China was second with 10 Gold, 13 Silver and 7 Bronze, while Japan was third with 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 9 Bronze.India had won 29 medals – 12 Gold, 5 Silver and 12 Bronze in the last edition in Bhubaneswar in 2017, topping the medal tally for the first time.

9.BCCI shifts IPL final from Chennai to Hyderabad:-

The Indian Premier League final scheduled on May 12 was shifted from Chennai to Hyderabad.The decision came after the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) failed to get requisite permission from the government to open the three closed stands.Chennai cricket stadium: M. 10.RBI approves the proposal of HDFC for holding a 9.9% stake in Bandhan Ban:-

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given its nod to HDFC Ltd for acquiring up to 9.9 per cent stake in Bandhan Bank following the Gruh Finance deal.Gruh Finance, the affordable housing finance arm of HDFC Ltd, was taken over by Bandhan Bank in a share-swap deal in January 2019.The scheme remains subject to the approvals from the National Company Law Tribunal and the respective shareholders of Gruh Finance and Bandhan Bank.

11.Government raises authorised capital of Allahabad Bank to Rs 8,000 crore:-

State-owned Allahabad Bank said on April 23 the government has increased its authorised capital by Rs 5,000 crore to Rs 8,000 crore.The central government after consultation with the Reserve Bank of India has increased the authorised capital of the bank.The increase in authorised capital will enable the bank to raise further fund up to a maximum ceiling of Rs 8,000 crore.
