1.Deadline is over, Anil Kumble not likely to stay coach :-

AS the deadline to apply for the job of India’s cricket coach ended Wednesday, it became increasingly clear that Anil Kumble’s one-year contract was unlikely to be extended — one primary reason being skipper Virat Kohli ‘s objection to Kumble’s style of functioning. Though BCCI officials, and even members of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), are trying to broker peace between the two, those involved in these negotiations say the differences between the coach and captain are long-standing and “almost irrevocable.”

2.Kohli, Dhoni, Yuvraj, Raina in list of top 100 athletes :-

India captain Virat Kohli, former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and stylish left-handed batsmen, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina, have found places in this year’s ESPN World Fame 100 list that made its debut last year.

While Kohli is placed in the 13th spot and Dhoni in the 15th, Yuvraj and Raina have been ranked 90th and 95th respectively, said a media release in Mumbai on Wednesday.

3.RBI to introduce New Re.1 Note :-

The Reserve Bank of India has announced that new one rupee note has been printed by the government and will be soon put into circulation. The one rupee note was discontinued in 1994 because it was more expensive to produce such notes when compared to the one-rupee coins. In the following year, Rs. 2 and Rs. 5 notes were also discontinued to free up printing facilities for higher denomination notes.

4.No midday meal without Aadhaar in UP schools :-

Students of government-run primary schools in Uttar Pradesh, who do not have an Aadhaar card, will not be able to get midday meal after June 30.

The direction from the State government comes three months after the Union Human Resource Development Ministry made Aadhaar cards mandatory for midday meals and asked UP schools to make a list of students who possess the cards.

5.Virat Kohli becomes Only Indian in Top 10 of ICC ODI Rankings :-

Indian Cricketer Virat Kohli has become the only cricketer to get featured in the top 10 of the ICC Players Rankings for ODIs as he managed to stick to the third spot in the ODI batsman’s chart.

 

6.Donald Trump to announce decision on Paris deal today :-

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he will announce his decision on whether the US will withdraw from the Paris climate change accord on Thursday. Trump said he would make the announcement at 12.30 am (3 pm local time) at the White House. Withdrawing from the Paris agreement is one of Trump’s major electoral promises.

 

7.Rajasthan High Court recommends declaration of cow as national animal :-

 

The Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday recommended that the Centre declare the cow as a national animal and increase the punishment for cow slaughter to life imprisonment. In a slew of directions passed on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), the court asked the State Chief Secretary to take steps to get the suggestions implemented.

Disposing of the PIL moved by Jago Janata Society regarding the conditions at Hingonia gaushala in Jaipur, the court also appointed a committee of lawyers to keep a watch on the cow shelter’s functioning. The Forest Department was asked to plant 5,000 saplings every year in the gaushala to keep it green.

8.Govt order doesn’t ban cow slaughter: Kerala HC :-

Observing  that there was no constitutional violation in the Centre’s notification banning sale and purchase of cattle for slaughter at animal markets, a division bench of the Kerala High Court on Wednesday dismissed as withdrawn a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging the order.

The division bench of Chief Justice Navniti Prasad Singh and Govt order doesn’t ban cow slaughter: Kerala HC Justice Raja Vijayaraghavan also expressed surprise at the order of the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court, which had, on Tuesday, granted a four-week stay on the Centre’s notification.

9.NASA to fly Solar Probe Plus right into sun’s atmosphere in 2018 :-

A NASA spacecraft will aim straight for the sun next year.

The space agency announced the red-hot mission on May 31, 2017 at the University of Chicago. Scheduled to launch in summer 2018, the Solar Probe Plus will fly within 6.4 million km of the sun’s surface right into the solar atmosphere. It will be subjected to brutal heat and radiation like no other man-made structure before.

10.Non-cash transactions in May slide back to near Nov. levels :-

The value of non-cash payments is on track to contract for the second consecutive month in May following the contraction seen in April, according to representative data released by the Reserve Bank of India.

The RBI data, collected from a sample of banks and the National Payments Corporation of India, shows that the value of non-cash transactions up to May 28 is only marginally higher than the amount transacted in November, the month demonetisation was announced, and significantly lower than the amount seen in subsequent months.
