  • The Reserve Bank has announced the launch of the RBI Retail Direct facility . Through this, an investor can do all the work related to investment in government securities smoothly at one place. Under this, retail investors are also now Retail Direct Gilt ( RDG ) in the Reserve Bank.can open an account. The Reserve Bank has said that as part of its ongoing efforts to increase retail participation in government securities, the Reserve Bank had announced the RBI Retail Direct facility earlier this year. Retail investors will now be able to invest in government securities directly online. RDG account can be opened through online portal developed for this scheme. Savings account holders with PAN card, valid KYC documents, email ID and registered mobile number can open this account. Non-resident retail investors eligible to invest in Government securities under the Foreign Exchange Management Act can also join the scheme. RDG account can be opened singly or jointly with other retail investor fulfilling the required criteria. The Reserve Bank has said that the date of launch of the scheme will be announced later.
