Barcelona and Argentina star Lionel Messi became the first player to pass 350 goals in La Liga with a double for Barcelona in the 2-0 win against Alaves.

Messi has scored 274 goals of those goals with his left foot and 63 with his right

 

2.Sindhu Loses Epic Final, Settles for Silver at World Ch’ship :-

PV Sindhu’s gallant effort to become India’s first ever World Champion ended in a heart- wrenching defeat against Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in an epic final, here today.

In the longest match of the tournament, which tested the physical and mental strength of both the players, Sindhu lost 19-21 22-20 20-22 after battling hard for one hour and 49 minutes.

For India, it still is a historic edition since for the first time country’s shuttler are returning with two medals.

Saina Nehwal won a bronze yesterday after losing her semifinal.

India had one silver and four bronze in the World Championships before this edition.

 

3.PM to visit Rajasthan; several major highway projects to be inaugurated, and unveiled :-

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, will visit Udaipur, Rajasthan tomorrow.

He will inaugurate, and lay the foundation stone, of several major highway projects. The total outlay on these projects is estimated to be over Rs. 15,000 crore.

Among the projects being inaugurated are: 6-Lane Cable Stayed Bridge across river Chambal at Kota; 4 Laning of Gomati Chauraha – Udaipur section of NH-8; and 4-Laning of Rajsamand-Bhilwara section of NH-758. Among the important projects for which the Foundation Stone will be laid, is the Jaipur Ring Road.

 

4.First Synergy Conference on Defence Pension Organised by Defence Accounts Department :-

The Defence Accounts Department (DAD) organized its first Synergy Conference on Defence Pensions here, today. The conference was attended by all Defence Pensioners Associations and was open to all Defence Pensioners.

Welcoming the panel and participants Additional Controller General of Defence Accounts (Addl. CGDA) Shri Prashant Sukul, emphasized the importance of stakeholder consultations by way of Synergy Conferences initiated by DAD.

 

5.Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed Chief of Naval Staff Bangladesh Navy Visits India  :-

Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed, Chief of Naval Staff of the Bangladesh Navy is on an official visit to India from 28 to 30 August 2017.

The visit is aimed at consolidating bilateral naval relations between India and Bangladesh and to explore new avenues for naval cooperation.

 

6.Secure Email Service to Government of India :-

As part of the mandate under the Digital India program, Government will provide a secure eMail service to all its officials for secure communication. As of now the service will be offered to 5 million users. Currently the user base is 1.6 million

In accordance with the eMail policy of the Government an email id will be assigned to all Government officials at the Centre and State through National Informatics Centre.

The primary trigger behind the policy was Government data which resides on servers outside India and on servers beyond the control of the Government of India.

Service offering:

  1. Largest service of its kind for the Government with a user base of 5 million
  2. Rich user experience with a streamlined browser interface that provides natural conversation; enables rich compose, drag and drop; sophisticated and easy-to customize filters, management and search of large inboxes of email and voicemail messages, multiple calendars, contacts and task lists.
  3. Enhanced security authentication mechanisms for users with geo-fencing and device mapping.

Centralized email architecture across the Government would make the process of ensuring a robust security mechanism for Government data.

Primary domain as “@gov.in” and a Roadmap to include local languages and ?????.???? domain

This service will increase the productivity and become a step towards the “Green Government” as all official communication will be done using eMail. A pilot of the service has already been deployed and running for a select user base which includes senior officials.

This Service will be a National resource that will help Government of India employees to be better informed, productive, and more responsive in their interactions with others.

 

7.Uttar Pradesh gets 41,173 more houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(Urban) :-

Affordable housing in urban areas is gaining momentum in Uttar Pradesh with the State getting 41,173 more houses sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has sanctioned 2,17,900 more houses for six States including Uttar Pradesh taking the total houses sanctioned so far to 26,13,568 with a total investment of 1,39,621 cr. Central assistance of 40,597 cr has been approved for construction of these houses.
