List of State Birds of India

India is home to a large number of rare bird species. From these bird species, Peacock was declared the national bird of India in 1963. The scientific name of the peacock is Pavo cristatus. It became the national bird of India because its a symbol of grace and beauty. All 28 states and 8 Union territories merged together and formed India. These states and Union territories have different State birds as India has its nation bird peacock.
