1 New Delhi becomes the world’s most polluted capital for the fourth consecutive year: Report

 After  2018 , New Delhi  has  been ranked as   the world’s most polluted capital city for the fourth consecutive year . Swiss organization IQ AIR  has said in its recent report that New Delhi’s air quality was in the worst category in 2023. According to this report, the PM 2.5 level of air in Delhi had deteriorated from 89.1 microgram per cubic meter in 2022 to 92.7 microgram per cubic meter in 2023.  Begusarai in Bihar has been the most polluted city in the world . With an average annual PM two point five per cubic meter level of 54.4 micrograms,  India   had the third worst air quality after Bangladesh and Pakistan . This report estimates that 100 crore people in India experienced PM 2.5 air levels. This was higher than the annual level of five micrograms per cubic meter of air set by the World Health Organization.

5 Tamil Nadu will be included in the PM Shri scheme of the Central Government

The Tamil Nadu government has decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Union Education Ministry to implement the PM Shree School (PM School for Rising India) scheme   in the state  . This information has been given by Tamil Nadu School Education Department. The MoU will be signed by the state government before the start of the 2024-25 academic session. The Government of India launched PM Shree School (PM School for Rising India) after it was approved by the Union Cabinet on 7 September 2022. Under the scheme, more than 14,500 existing schools will be selected as PM Shree Schools (PM Schools for Rising India). Central Government, State Government, Union Territories and Local Bodies are eligible for PM Shri School Scheme. Primary schools (Class 1-5/ 1-8) and Secondary/Higher Secondary schools (Class 1-10/1-12/6-10/6-12) managed by Central/State/UT Governments/UDISE+ Code is made by the local self-government and will be considered for selection under this scheme.

7 Britain launches the country’s first ‘Dragonfire’

The UK  recently successfully tested its  Dragonfire Laser Directed Energy Weapon (LDEW)  , demonstrating its ability to intercept enemy aircraft and missiles at remarkably low cost. A demonstration in January in Scotland demonstrated the laser’s accuracy in targeting and destroying air threats, marking a potential game-changer in air defense technology. The Dragonfire LDEW claims accuracy equivalent to hitting a target as small as a £1 coin from a kilometer away.
