1. PM addresses World Bank event ‘Making it Personal: How Behavioral Change Can Tackle Climate Change’

Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi addressed the World Bank  ‘s program ‘ Making it Personal: How Behavioral Change Can Tackle Climate Change ‘  through a video message  . The Prime Minister acknowledged his personal association with the cause and expressed happiness that it is becoming a global movement. Prime Minister Shri Modi emphasized that global institutions have an important role to play in encouraging countries around the world. Referring to the World Bank Group’s proposed increase in climate finance from 26 percent to 35 percent as a share of total financing, he said the focus of this climate finance is usually on traditional aspects.

2. Union Home Minister Amit Shah to present Maharashtra Bhushan Award to senior social worker Dr. Dattatreya Narayan

Union Home Minister  Amit Shah   will present the Maharashtra Bhushan Award  to  senior social worker Dr. Dattatreya Narayan  at Kharghar in  Navi Mumbai . Padma awardee Dr. Narayan  is also known as Appa Saheb Dharmadhikari  . The Government of Maharashtra had decided to confer the Maharashtra Bhushan Award for the year 2022 on Dr. Appa Saheb Dharmadhikari. 3. Trial run of metro built under Hooghly river in Kolkata successful

Kolkata Metro  created   history by moving the first Metro rake  from   under  the river Ganga (Hooghly) to Howrah Maidan . After a long wait, the country’s first metro train ran under the river Ganges.  This is the first underwater metro project in India . Metro services on this route from Kolkata to Howrah are expected to start this year itself. When this service starts,  Howrah  will become the deepest metro station in the country . It   is 33 meters below the surface . Two tunnels have been made for the metro under the river.

4. Nandini Gupta of Rajasthan became the winner of Femina Miss India 2023, will represent India in Miss World 2024 contest

Nandini Gupta  from   Rajasthan  was  crowned as the winner of Femina Miss India  at  the 59th edition  of  Femina Miss India 2023 Grand Finale  held in  Imphal . While 19-year-old  Shreya Poonja from Delhi  was declared the first runner-up and  Thounaojam Strela Luwang from Manipur  was declared the second runner-up. This year the panel of judges included Femina Miss India Universe 2002 and mentor Neha Dhupia, boxing icon Laishram Sarita Devi, choreographer Terence Lewis, film director and writer Harshvardhan Kulkarni and renowned designers Rocky Star and Namrata Joshipura. Winner Nandini Gupta  Miss World 2024 Contest Will represent India in  Nandini, 19, hails from Kota , one of the country’s biggest coaching hubs for engineering and medical aspirants.

6. For the first time, women from Wansoi village were allowed to enter Morang and play drums

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  has  congratulated the people of Wansoi village  in  Nagaland  for adopting an equal attitude towards women. Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha  S. 7. Ratnakar Patnaik appointed new Chief Investment Officer of LIC

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC)  has   appointed Ratnakar Patnaik  as its new  Chief Investment Officer .  Patnaik has replaced PR Mishra on this post  . Patnaik had joined LIC in September 1990 as a direct recruit officer. In addition, the Life Insurance Corporation of India   appointed PC Packroy  as the Chief Risk Officer of the corporation  . Packre will replace Tablesh Pandey who is now the Managing Director of the corporation.

8. HDFC Bank signed MoU with Export Import Bank of Korea

HDFC Bank  has   signed a Master Interbank Credit Agreement with  Export-Import Bank of Korea   with an aggregate value of  US$ 300 million . The signing ceremony  took place in GIFT City, Gujarat  and is aimed at helping HDFC Bank  raise foreign exchange funds  , which will be used to support Korea-related businesses.

9. Employment rate in India rises to 36.9% in March quarter

 According to the latest data released by  the Central Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) , India’s employment rate  improved slightly  in  the March quarter , increasing by 0.3% from the previous quarter. In March 2023, India’s employment rate   is set to increase from 36.6% to 36.9% . While the number of unemployed persons decreased by almost two million, it is clear that many people were able to get jobs.

 NSE Indices Limited, a branch of National Stock Exchange (NSE), has   launched  the country’s first  Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT)  and  Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) index. It is an investment vehicle that gives ownership of a revenue generating real estate or infrastructure asset. Mukesh Agarwal, CEO, NSE Indices, said the objective of the index is to track the performance of REITs and InvITs that are publicly listed and traded on the NSE. REITs and InvITs are recognized as strong alternative financial instruments for raising funds against cash-generating infrastructure and real estate projects.

11. Appointed Rat Jar in New York City

 New York has appointed  the city’s first  Rat Jar to combat the rat menace . New York City Mayor  Eric Adams  announced that  Kathleen Corradi  has been named the city’s first director of rodent mitigation. Kathleen Corradi has been appointed the first ‘Rat czar ‘ in the county’s most populous city, to combat a growing rat population.

12. WhatsApp started ‘Stay Safe with WhatsApp’

Instant messaging platform  WhatsApp has launched  a new  user safety campaign  to reassure users of its online security controls and secure messaging experience. 15. Turkish Navy has world’s first drone carrier ship

The Turkish Navy has received  its first  aircraft carrier, the TCG Anadolu , which  is expected to house  the world’s first  air wing composed  mainly  of unmanned aircraft (drones) . Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said the vessel will host several manned and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as the TB3 from the Bayraktar family, the latest prototype being tested on the carrier’s flight deck. The TB3 is a naval drone with foldable wings designed for ship decks and short runways, while its vision and beyond-sight communication capabilities allow it to operate from remote locations. TCG Anadolu is based on Spain’s flagship, Juan Carlos I, with a displacement of 27,436 tons and a top speed of approximately 21 knots.

16. Shakib and Ishimwe win ICC Player of the Month award for March 2023

Himachal Pradesh  came into existence on 15th April, 1948  .  It was declared a Union Territory on  November , 1956 . In 1966 , the hilly areas of Punjab were also included in Himachal Pradesh.  Himachal Pradesh was granted full statehood  on January 25, 1971 and was the 18th state in the country.
