1. PM to launch ‘Cleanliness Service’ campaign on September 15 :-

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch ‘Cleanliness Service’ campaign on September 15, 2018.

Through the fortnight-long campaign, Prime Minister will interact with different people at 18 places across the country through video conferencing.

The Prime Minister will include people, students, jawans, religious leaders, members of milk and agricultural cooperatives, journalists, local government representatives, railway employees, self help groups, cleanliness, etc. among the people.

The aim of the ‘Cleanliness Service’ campaign is to ensure maximum public participation in the activities related to cleanliness. This campaign is being organized just before the fourth anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission on October

2, 2018. It also shows the commencement of celebrations related to Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary.

 

2. Award was received by the Railway Board, Shri Ranjesh Sahai, the first prize secretary under the Official Language Award for the Ministry of Railways :-

For the best implementation of Official Language Policy, the Ministry of Railways has received the first prize under the Official Language Award. This award was given by the Honorable Vice President of India Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu on the occasion of Hindi Diwas at the award distribution function organized in Science Bhawan, New Delhi today. This award was received by the Railway Board, Shri Ranjesh Sahai, Secretary, on behalf of the Ministry of Railways.

As a result of the best implementation of the Official Language Policy, the offices registering better progress in the use of the Official Language are honored with the Official Language Shield. The award is decided on the basis of the quarterly progress reports related to the implementation of the Official Language Policy. This review is done by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

 

3.Mr. Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the 12-day tourism festival on 16th September, 2018 :-

Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the tourism festival in the presence of Shri K. J. Alphons, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Tourism on the Rajpath Lawn of New Delhi on September 16, 2018. This information was given by the Union Tourism Secretary Mrs Rashmi Verma in New Delhi today. The Tourism Ministry of the Government of India is  organizing the second ‘Tourism Festival’ for the nation-wide event of tourism  from September 16 , 2018 to 27 September ,  2018 , in collaboration with other Central Ministries, State Governments and stakeholders  .

Giving this information to the media, the Secretary informed that the Union Railway Minister Shri Piyush Goyal would formally inaugurate India Tourism Mart (ITM) in the Ashok Hotel in New Delhi on September 17, 2018. The Tourism Ministry will organize Bharat Tourism Mart (ITM) from 16th September, 2018 to 18th September, 2018, in association with the Association of Indian Tourism and Hospitality Organizations (FAIT) and with the cooperation of the States / Union Territories (UTs). Mrs Verma said that on the lines of other international tourism marties ITM will now be celebrated as an annual function and the Ministry will issue a calendar of IMT program for the next five years to ensure comprehensive participation.

 

4.The Parliament of the European Union voted in favor of penalizing Hungary :-

Members of the European Union voted in favor of a penal action against Hungary in view of the violation of democratic rules.

This is the first time under the EU rules. More than two-thirds of the members supported the condemnation motion. After this vote in the city of Strasbourg in France, Hungary may now have to be deprived of voting in the European Union. Hungary has alleged that in 2010, when Prime Minister Victor Orban took charge, he started pressurizing the courts, the media and non-government groups and refusing to take refugees in Hungary.

 

5. Modi government’s crucial decision to stop rupee, five-point remedies announced :-

The government has announced important measures to pause the falling rupee against the US dollar and to control the current account deficit. These measures include measures to control non-essential imports and promote exports. Apart from this, it has been decided to simplify the foreign commercial rules too. The government announced these measures late night after a high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Prime Minister called this meeting to take stock of the situation of the economy. It included Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Reserve Bank of India Governor Urjit Patel and senior officials of the Finance Ministry. This meeting was convened at a time when the rupee has surpassed the rupee 72 against the dollar. At the same time, the current account deficit is also expected to reach close to three percent of GDP due to rising crude oil prices in the international market. After the meeting, Jaitley said that the government will focus on the five-point plan to keep the current account deficit under control.

Under this, simplifying the rules relating to foreign commercial borrowings (ECB) involves measures to promote the participation of foreign portfolio investors in the corporate bond market. Apart from this, it has also been decided to give exemption from the willful tax to the masala bond issued in the current financial year. The masala bond means the bonds that a Indian company has issued in the denomination of rupees out of the country to borrow from the market. Subhash Chandra Garg, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance says that these five measures will help in controlling the deficit of the current account and can raise about $ 8-10 billion by these measures. These steps are taken for the debt of the sector. Mandatory hedging centers will be reviewed.

Manufacturing units will be allowed to borrow up to $ 50 million for one year instead of three years. A corporate group, the company will lose 20 per cent of the investment limit of FPI’s corporate bond portfolio and a limit of 50 per cent for any issue of corporate bonds will be reviewed. Release of masala bonds in the current financial year 2018-19 will be exempted from withholding tax. Removal of restrictions on the market of Indian banks in the spice bonds, including restrictions on underwriting of such bonds.

According to the figures released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), foreign exchange reserves fell by less than $ 400 billion , the country’s foreign exchange reserves dropped by $ 81.95 million to $ 399.282 billion in the week ended September 7. In the previous week, foreign currency reserves declined by $ 1.191 billion. However, after remaining stable for years, the country’s gold reserves rose by $ 7.19 million to $ 20.234 billion in the reporting week.

 

6. China doubles training period for new soldiers :-

China’s army has doubled the training period of new soldiers. New recruits joining the Army Army will now be trained for six months instead of three months. Its purpose is to improve their war related abilities.

On Friday, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) said in China’s official newspaper Global Times that training of war skills will be given to new soldiers before deployment of various army personnel. New recruits would not be able to cope up with their senior and these seniors did not get adequate training.

An official of PLA’s training bureau said, “Now the new soldiers will be given more effective training. If trained as per the standard, they will be able to get deployed in war units. ‘ PLA is the largest army in the world. There are about 2 million soldiers in it.

 

7. Bills brought to India-based MP H-1B visa holders :-

Bharatvanshi MP Raja Krishnamurthy has introduced a bill in the US Parliament which gives H-1B personnel a chance to change jobs. There is also a provision for increasing the annual limit of H-1B visas to 20 thousand from the US for the Masters degree or higher education received from this bill.

This will allow the pending applications of Green Card to be settled soon. Democracy MP Krishnamurthy presented the Immigration Innovation Act of 2018 at the lower house of parliament on Thursday.

Republican Party MP Mike Kaufman also supported it. Both MPs say that with the improvement of the H-1B Work Visa Program it will be simpler when the law is created.

 

8. The world is staring in Hindi, millions of people speak the national language :-

Hindi is the official language of India. Context Hindi is now continuing to spread its cultural and traditional importance. The number of people who know this in the country and abroad is increasing rapidly. This era of the Internet has provided a new sky for global trends in Hindi.

On September 14, 1949, constitutionally Hindi was given the status of official language. Article 343 of the Constitution provides that Hindi along with Devanagari script will be the official language of India.

There are 70 million people in Hindi speaking world. This is the third most spoken language. English is the first place with 1.12 billion speakers. Chinese language speakers are about 1.10 billion speakers. With 51.29 million and 42.2 million, respectively, the fourth and fifth places of Spanish and Arabic respectively. The 2017 edition of Ethnologue, which is published on the information of the languages ​​present in the world, contains 28 such languages, each of which has more than 5 million speakers.

9.In the World Shooting Championship in South Korea, Udayvir Singh of India won gold medal in men’s 25 meter junior personal pistol event :-

Sixteen-year-old Udayvir Singh, India’s gold medalist in the World Shooting Championship in South Korea, won gold medal in men’s 25 meter junior individual pistol event. He won the gold with a score of 587, leaving behind Henry Leverate of America and Lee Jackie of Korea.

In the competition, India’s Vijayvir Sidhu was in fourth place and Rajkumar Singh Sandhu remained in the 20th position.

The combined points of these three, a thousand 736, gave India a gold medal in the team event.

In the medal table, India is fourth with 9 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze medals.

10.Justice Ranjan Gogoi will be the new Chief Justice of India:-

Justice Ranjan Gogoi will be the next Chief Justice of India. They will replace Principal Judge Deepak Mishra, who retires on the next date of the next month. Justice Gogoi will take charge for the 13-month tenure on October 3.
