1 Practice Desert Night

Indian Air Force (IAF)  conducted  Exercise  Desert  Night  on 23 January 2024 . The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Air Force  along with   the  French Air and Space Force (FASF)  also participated in the exercise  . During the exercise, while Rafale fighter aircraft and a multi-role tanker transport aircraft took part from the French side, F-16 fighter aircraft took part from the UAE Air Force. These planes took off from Al Dhafra Airport in the United Arab Emirates. The Indian Air Force contingent included Sukhoi-30 MKI, MiG-29, Jaguar, AWACS, C-130-J and air-to-air refueling aircraft. The exercise was conducted over the Arabian Sea over Indian territory, with Indian Air Force aircraft flying from air bases located in India.

2. Union Cabinet approves Protocol regarding establishment of Joint Economic and Trade Committee between India and Dominican Republic

The Union Cabinet  chaired by  the Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi has approved the proposal for signing of a Protocol relating to the Establishment of Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) between the Department  of  Commerce , Ministry of Commerce and Industry of  the Republic of India and   the  Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic  . Gave. Bilateral relations between India and the Dominican Republic have been friendly and are continuously deepening in all areas. At present, there is no bilateral institutional mechanism relating to trade and commerce between India and the Dominican Republic. India mainly imports gold from the Dominican Republic and exports pharmaceuticals, marine products, motor vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers, etc. to them.

3. Cabinet approves signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Oman for cooperation in the field of Information Technology

 The Union Cabinet  chaired   by the Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi has approved a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of  the Republic of India   and  the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of the Sultanate of Oman  on mutual cooperation in the field of Information Technology on December 15, 2023 ( Information about MoU) was given. The objective of this MoU is to promote comprehensive cooperation between the concerned parties through mutual cooperation, sharing of technologies and information and investment in the field of information technology. This MoU will be effective from the date of signing by the concerned parties and will remain in force for a period of 3 years. Bilateral cooperation, both ‘G2G’ and ‘B2B’, will be increased in the field of information technology. This MoU envisages better mutual cooperation which will increase employment opportunities in the field of IT.

4 UNICEF ties up with NIUA to empower youth for urban governance through citizen participation on National Youth Day

The Urban Youth Unit  of  NIUA  and  UWAH-UNICEF  have entered into an MoU to strengthen their commitment to empower youth in urban governance. The Statement of Intent was exchanged between Lovelesh Sharma, Head of Urban Youth Unit and Abhishek Gupta, COO of Yuvawah at the National Youth Day function organized by NIUA. Over the next three years, both organizations will co-create and implement youth-driven solutions to address the challenges facing cities. The primary focus of this partnership will be to enhance youth leadership, participation and action research towards strengthening civic behavior and urban governance.

5 Investment Forum launched to advance climate-resilient agri-food systems in India

NITI AayogMinistry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) , and  Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)  jointly  launched the  ‘ Investment Forum for Advancing Climate Resilient Agri-Food Systems in India’ in New Delhi . It  was launched during a two-day multi-stakeholder meeting held at  the  India International Centre, New Delhi on January 18-19, 2024  . The initiative aims to develop an investment and partnership strategy between government, private sectors, farmer organizations and financial institutions to advance climate-resilient agri-food systems in India.

6 Restoration of Lake Victoria

Lake Victoria  is facing many environmental challenges, which   require joint efforts for its restoration and conservation . India-based think tank  Center for Science and Environment  and  the National Environment Management Council, Tanzania recently met in Dar S.  to decide on strategies to restore the lake  .  Held a multinational stakeholder forum event in Salam, Tanzania . Lake Victoria  is the largest lake in Africa  and  the second largest freshwater lake in the world  . Its coastline is shared by Kenya (6%), Uganda (43%), and Tanzania (51%). The Kagera, Katonga, Sio, Yala, Nyando, Sondu Miriu and Mara rivers fall into this lake, while the Nile River originates from this lake.

7 Madiga community in Telangana

The Madiga community , which  constitutes more than 50% of the Scheduled Caste (SC) population  in  Telangana ,  has been demanding sub-categorization of SCs  for a long time  . They argue that despite being numerically the largest SC group, they are deprived of reservation and other government benefits meant for SCs. These benefits are disproportionately distributed to the small but relatively advanced  Mala community in Telangana.  gone to in Telangana. For decades, Madigas have raised complaints that they have been excluded from availing the benefits of reservation in education and jobs as well as other schemes designed for the upliftment of the Scheduled Castes. They allege that the Mala community, with better social and economic status, has captured most of the government benefits. Madigas are still extremely backward.

8 Justice Prasanna B Varale appointed Supreme Court judge

 In exercise of the powers conferred by  clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India,  the President  has appointed Justice Shri Prasanna Bhalchandra Varale  , Chief Justice of  the Karnataka High Court (PHC: Bombay),  as  Judge of the Supreme Court . His appointment will be effective from the date of assuming office.

9 Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai flagged off the bikers rally from Delhi to Kanyakumari under the Siddha Arogya Rally and Awareness Campaign.

Dr. Munjpara Mahendra Bhai,  Union  Minister of State for AYUSH and Women and Child Development, participated in the  ‘ Siddha ‘  Arogya Rally and Awareness Campaign  organized by CCRS (Central Council for Research in Siddha)  and  National Institute of Siddha (NIS)  of the Ministry  of AYUSH. Under this  , the bikers rally  was flagged off from Delhi  to  Kanyakumari . This program was held at Ayush Bhawan, Ayush Ministry Complex, New Delhi. Siddha Arogya Rally and Awareness Campaign (SWARC) is a transformative 20-day campaign covering a distance of approximately 3333 kilometers from New Delhi to Kanyakumari that will showcase the Siddha system of healing. The rally will pass through 8 states/UTs with 21 awareness camp points.

10 5th Barge of 11

The  5th   barge  of  the 11  _ 19 (yards 129)’  was launched. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Commodore V Praveen, AWPS (MBI). The contract for construction of 11 The availability of these barges will accelerate the operational commitments of the Indian Navy by facilitating transportation, loading and unloading of commodities/ammunition to Indian Naval (IN) ships both at the jetties and outboard ports.

11 Swachh Survekshan 2023: Bhopal tops in cleanliness

 The diligent efforts of  Bhopal Municipal Corporation  have had a significant impact on  Swachh Survekshan-2023 . Bhopal  is now the 5th cleanest city among cities with a population of more than 1 lakh, moving from 6th in 2022. Bhopal has also been awarded a 5-star Garbage Free City (GFC) rating, making it   the cleanest state capital in the country . Additionally, Bhopal ranks 5th among the cleanest cities with a population of more than one million.

12 Competition Commission of India has approved JSW Ventures Singapore Pvt. Ltd. approved the acquisition of up to 38 percent share capital of MG Motor India Pvt. Ltd.

Competition Commission of India (CCI)  has  approved JSW Ventures Singapore Pvt. Ltd.  has   approved the acquisition of  approximately  38 percent share capital of MG Motor India Pvt. Ltd. The Commission has directed JSW Ventures Singapore Pvt. Ltd. (Acquirer) has approved the acquisition of up to 38 per cent of the share capital of MG Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (Target). The Acquirer is a newly incorporated entity and is not engaged in any activities till date. It is owned by JSW International Tradecorp Pvt. Ltd., belonging to the JSW Group. Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary. ‘Target’ is a company incorporated in India, engaged in the business of automobile original equipment manufacturing and after sales service. ‘Target’ is primarily engaged in manufacturing and selling of passenger cars (including electronic vehicles) under Target’s brand name ‘MG’.

13 Competition Commission of India approves 100% acquisition of Wistron Infocom Manufacturing (India) Pvt Ltd by Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd

The Competition Commission of India (CCI)  has   approved 100% acquisition  of  Wistron Infocom Manufacturing (India) Pvt Ltd  by  Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd. The proposed adjustment relates to the acquisition of 100 per cent of the equity share capital of Wistron Infocom Manufacturing (India) Private Limited (Target) from SMS Infocom (Singapore) Private Limited and Wistron Hong Kong Limited by Tata Electronics Private Limited (Acquirer). The acquirer is a greenfield venture of Tata Sons Private Limited. It makes smartphone enclosures (the frame of the phone on which other smartphone components are housed), which is a highly precision part of the smartphone.

14 Competition Commission of India approves merger of Fincare Small Finance Bank Limited (Fincare) and AU Small Finance Bank Limited (AU)

The Competition Commission of India (CCI)  has   approved the merger of Fincare Small Finance Bank Limited (Fincare)  and  AU Small Finance Bank Limited (AU) . The proposed combination involves the merger of Fincare and AU, with AU being the operating entity (the merged entity). Following the proposed combination, Fincare shareholders will be allotted shares in the merged entity. AU is a banking company that provides personal and commercial banking services (including deposits, loan and advance provision, debit and credit card services, institutional banking and digital banking services). AU also has a license to do business under AD-II bank category (Foreign Exchange). AU also engages in ancillary activities such as distribution of insurance and investment products such as mutual funds and portfolio management services. Fincare is a banking company and provides deposit services (such as savings accounts, current accounts, fixed deposits, recurring deposits), loan services (including retail and microfinance loans) and digital banking services. Fincare also provides some miscellaneous services like distribution of insurance products.

15 Rohan Bopanna: World’s oldest No. 1 player in men’s doubles

Rohan Bopanna   is one step away from becoming the oldest tennis player (at 43) to achieve the world No. 1 ranking in men’s doubles. He  reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open with his partner  Matthew Ebden . Bopanna and Ebden defeated sixth-seeded Argentinian pair of Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni in the quarterfinals. Bopanna became the oldest player to achieve world No. 1 ranking  in USA . K  is one step away from breaking the record set by Rajeev Ram. Bopanna is the fourth Indian to top the world doubles rankings, joining Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza. He is also the oldest player to win a men’s doubles title at a Masters 1000 event, achieving the feat with Ebden at the Indian Wells tournament at the age of 43.

16 National Girl Child Day- 2024

 The Ministry of  Women and Child Development, Government of India  celebrated National Girl Child Day  on January 24, 2024   at  the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) .  National Girl Child Day is celebrated every year on 24 January across the country  . Its objective is to involve the entire nation in creating a positive environment that values ​​the girl child. Apart from being a national event, National Girl Child Day is being celebrated across the country with a 5-day special campaign that includes activities highlighting the importance of the girl child. In this campaign, door-to-door programs will be carried out at every visited house/public building/Panchayat office with the messages “ Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”. ” stickers

17 International Education Day: 24 January

International Day  of Education is celebrated every year   on  24 January . The United Nations  passed a resolution on December 3, 2018  and decided to declare January 24 as International Education Day. Its objective is to underline the role of education in peace and development. This proposal for International Education Day was prepared by 58 countries including Nigeria. This is the fourth edition of International Education Day.  11 November  is celebrated as National Education Day  in India  .
