1 Prime Minister inaugurated the first National Training Conference at Pragati Maidan, Delhi

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  inaugurated   the first National Training Convention  at  the International Exhibition and Convention Center  in  New Delhi . The aim of the conference is to strengthen the training infrastructure for civil servants across the country. It has been organized by the Capacity Building Commission. More than one thousand five hundred delegates from various training institutes are participating in the conference. These institutes include Central Training Institutes, State Administrative Training Institutes, Regional and Zonal Training Institutes and Research Institutes. Apart from this, experts from Central Government Departments, State Governments and local government bodies and private sector are also present in the conference.

2 Three-day meeting of  G-20 Development Ministers begins in Varanasi

G-20 Development Ministers’ meeting   started in Varanasi , Uttar Pradesh  . External Affairs Minister Dr  S Jaishankar  is chairing the meeting. This meeting   will continue till June 13 . Ahead of the crucial session, Shri Jaishankar today interacted with several dignitaries including the Commissioner for International Partnership in the European Union, the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany and the Development Minister of Australia.

 The Government  of India  has constituted a Peace Committee in Manipur under  the chairmanship of  the Governor  of  Manipur. The members of the committee include   the chief minister, some state government ministers, MPs, MLAs and leaders of various political parties. The committee also includes former civil servants, educationists, litterateurs, artists, social workers and representatives of various ethnic groups. The mandate of the committee will be to facilitate the peace process between the various ethnic groups in the state, including peaceful dialogue and negotiations between the conflicting parties/groups. The committee should strengthen social harmony and mutual understanding and facilitate harmonious communication between different ethnic groups.

4 Four key initiatives taken to strengthen 1,514 Urban Co-operative Banks (UCBs) in the country

Four important initiatives  have been taken  to strengthen  the 1,514 Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) in the country  . As per the detailed discussion held by the Union Home and Cooperation Minister  Shri Amit Shah with  the Finance Minister  Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman  and  the Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI),  RBI has notified these important measures to strengthen Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) .

  1. Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) can now open new branches to expand their business
  2. Urban co-operative banks will also be able to do one time settlement like commercial banks
  3. Revised timelines for Priority Sector Lending (PSL) targets given to UCBs
  4. Designating a Nodal Officer in RBI

5 Permission granted for expansion of mining work in Gaula river

 The Ministry  of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has given permission  to the Government of Uttarakhand  to continue mining activities in the Gaula river  in   Nainital district . The extension allows mining operations to be carried out  till June 30  , extending the earlier deadline of May 31. The decision is expected to have significant implications for the state’s economy and local communities. With the approval to continue mining operations in the Gaula river, the Uttarakhand government is expected to make a profit of up to Rs 50 crore. This additional revenue will contribute to the state’s income, providing the much needed economic stimulus. In addition, the extended permission is also expected to generate employment opportunities for the local population.

6 Kerala government inaugurates Devankanam Charuharitam project to fight climate change

The Kerala government  has adopted a unique approach to deal with climate change and its negative effects  in the state  . In an ambitious project, the government aims   to increase the green cover of over 3000 temples  managed by  the five Devaswom Boards .  The project named ‘ Devankanam Charuharitam ‘ (Beautiful Green Abode of God) was inaugurated on the occasion of  World Environment Day on 5th June . This project will cover more than 3800 temples across Kerala which come under the management of five Devaswom Boards.

7 Indian Navy Aircraft Carriers – INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant conduct an exercise

Indian Navy  ‘s Aircraft Carriers –  INS Vikramaditya  and  INS Vikrant  carried out an exercise and   demonstrated multi-aircraft carrier operations by deploying over 35 aircraft in the Arabian Sea . Several fleets of MiG-29  fighter jets, submarines and aircraft participated in the naval exercise,  showcasing India’s technological expertise in the maritime domain.

8 53rd Director General Level Border Coordination Conference between BSF and Border Guards of Bangladesh begins in New Delhi

The 53rd Director General level Border Coordination Conference between  India’s  Border Security Force – BSF  and  Bangladesh  ‘s Border Guard – BGB –  began in New Delhi . During the four-day conference, the Indian delegation led by Director General BSF Dr. Sujoy Lal Thousen, Major General A.K.M. Najmul will meet the delegation headed by Hasan. The conference is being organized to discuss issues related to the border and for better coordination between the two border guarding forces. The last BSF-BGB coordination conference was to be held in Dhaka in 2022.

9 Indian Army signs contract to procure ‘Tactical LAN Radios’ by Innovations for Defense Excellence (IDEX)

Indian Army  signs   contract for procurement of Tactical LAN Radios  by New Invention for  Defense Excellence . In keeping with its commitment to ‘Make in India’, the Indian Army has   signed a second procurement contract on 9 June 2023 through Innovation for Defense Excellence . Contract with M/s Astrom Tech Pvt Ltd, Bangalore , for procurement of indigenously developed Tactical LAN Radios   Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt  Gen MV Suchindra Kumar in  New Delhi Signed in the presence of With this initiative, the Indian Army has taken a lead by signing two contracts under IDEX so far. The ‘tactical LAN solution’ is being developed indigenously to create a secure tactical LAN in remote and inaccessible areas. The Tactical LAN Radio is a state-of-the-art high-bandwidth back-haul wireless radio device for reliable and successful, secure-communications. The solution provides a wide range of communication and embedded frequency hopping mechanisms to prevent interference with long distance ‘point to multipoint’ highbandwidth communication without interference. The system also includes advanced safety features and can operate continuously for 48 hours on a single set basis without interruption.

10 Guaranteed Pension Scheme (GPS) of Andhra Pradesh

Important decisions like Guaranteed Pension Scheme (GPS)  for employees  , 6,840 new government jobs and regularization of around 10,000 contract workers were taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Andhra Pradesh  Chief Minister  Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday. Under the GPS scheme, eligible employees  will get 50 per cent of their last pay  as pension. In this, dearness allowance will also be included like the Central Government and this allowance will be given twice in a year. In respect of contract workers, all employees who have completed at least five years of service as on June 2, 2014, will be regularised.

Conducted during parabolic flights that simulate weightlessness, this pioneering research aims to understand the dynamics of fry in space. By exploring these culinary techniques, scientists seek to increase food options and safety for astronauts on long-duration missions such as the Moon and Mars.

12 SHCC released a report titled Ignoring Red Lines: Violence Against Health Care in Conflict 2022

Recently  a report titled  “ Ignoring Red Lines: Violence Against Health Care in Conflict 2022 ” was released by the Safeguarding Health in Conflict Coalition (SHCC) . It showed that  incidents of violence against health workers in Mali have  increased by more than two times in 2022 compared to the previous year 2021. A staggering total of 46 such incidents have been identified, highlighting the risks faced by those on the frontline.

13 EU Deal on Equitable Refugee Hosting

 The European Union  (EU)  has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to revise the rules for an  equal sharing of the hosting of asylum seekers.  The deal was reached on 8 June during intense talks between EU interior ministers in Luxembourg . For the deal to be approved, the support of a majority of countries representing at least 65% of the EU’s population was needed. After years of contentious debate and disagreement over asylum policies, this agreement is a decisive step forward.

14 RBI Guidelines on Default Loss Guarantee

 Reserve Bank  of India (RBI) issued guidelines regarding Default Loss Guarantee (DLG)   in  Digital Lending. This step of the central bank is to ensure orderly growth in the loan system. A DLG is a contractual arrangement between a  regulated entity (RE)  and an entity that meets specified criteria, under which the qualifying entity guarantees to indemnify the RE against losses on default up to a specified percentage of the specified loans. RE refers   to Non-Banking Financial Institutions (NBFCs) regulated by RBI other than banks. As per the guidelines, a RE can enter into a DLG arrangement only with a Loan Service Provider (LSP) or another RE with whom it has an Outsourcing (LSP) arrangement.

15 RBI Guidelines on One-Time Settlements

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  recently   made significant changes in the rules governing one-time settlement (OTS) and technical write-off  of loans  . RBI has issued detailed guidelines aimed at streamlining the process and ensuring greater accountability in these areas for all regulated entities. The primary objective of the detailed guidelines provided by RBI is to set up a comprehensive framework for OTS and technical write-off. The purpose of these guidelines is to define process within specific timelines, set precedents and outline a hierarchical framework for employee accountability.

In response, Team India was reduced to 296 runs and Australia got a lead of 173 runs in the first innings. Australia declared the second innings by scoring 270 runs and set a target of 444 runs in front of India.
