Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  and  Bangladesh  Prime Minister  Sheikh Hasina jointly  inaugurated projects like Akhora-Agartala cross-border rail linkKhulna-Mongla Port Rail Line , and  the second unit of Maitri Super Thermal Power Plant  through video conferencing  . The Agartala-Akhaura rail link, spanning 15 kilometers (5 kilometers in India and 10 kilometers in Bangladesh), is of utmost importance. This will significantly reduce the travel time between Agartala and Kolkata via Dhaka.

2 PM Modi inaugurates new section of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor for faster freight transportation

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  on Monday marked an important milestone when he  dedicated to the nation the 77-km New Bhandu-New Sanand section of   the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC)  . The development is set to accelerate the transportation of goods to and from ports and manufacturing centers in the region. Additionally, shifting of sixty freight trains from passenger rail routes to the freight corridor has accelerated the movement of passenger trains. The new section of DFC significantly enhances connectivity with major ports of Gujarat including Pipavav, Porbandar and Jamnagar. This improved linkage facilitates faster movement of EXIM (export-import) traffic and reduces transit time. Additionally, the new section has boosted connectivity to important freight terminals like Viramgam, Jakhwara, Detroz, Lynch and freight loading centers in Jamnagar area. The new section also provides links to the dairy industry at Anand, oil refinery at Jamnagar and the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor, further boosting economic activities in the region.

Kozhikode and Gwalior join UNESCO’s creative city network

UNESCO  has   declared Kozhikode, Kerala  as  a City  of  Literature  in its latest list of  Creative Cities Network . Apart from Kozhikode,  Gwalior  in  Madhya Pradesh  has been ranked as a music city  in this network  . UNESCO Director General  Audrey Azoulay  has nominated  55 cities  for different creative sectors. These include areas like crafts and folk art, design, film, literature, media arts and music. The nominated cities have been selected based on their commitment to promoting culture and creativity in their development strategy.  UNESCO has also invited the newly designated cities to participate in the Creative Cities Network Conference to  be held in  Braga, Portugal next July  .

4 World’s first Artificial Intelligence Security Summit begins in Buckingham, Britain

Union Minister of State for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Electronics and Information Technology,  Rajeev Chandrashekhar  addressed  the pre-inaugural session of ‘ AI Security Summit 2023 ‘  in Buckingham  ,  UK . The two-day summit aims to  deliberate on the risks associated with AI  and create effective strategies for their mitigation through globally coordinated efforts. The ‘AI Safety Summit 2023’ brings together representatives from across the globe, including governments, leading AI corporations, civil society organizations and research experts from the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy and Kenya. It was also attended by Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, South Korea, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and executives from American artificial intelligence companies such as OpenAI and influential computer scientists such as Yoshua Bengio, considered the “Godfather   ” of  AI  . Taking.

5 Delhi Metro: Momentum 2.0 app launched, passengers will be able to do virtual shopping

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation  Managing Director  Vikas Kumar  launched   the Momentum 2.0 app  at  Shivaji Stadium metro station . This is an e-commerce app. Through this, passengers   will be able to do virtual shopping . Passengers can buy essential items for home while traveling in the metro. Momentum 2.0 will also have the facility of a digital locker called Smart Box, through which passengers will be able to secure the purchased items. Through this app, metro smart card can also be recharged and QR ticket can also be taken. Apart from this, passengers will be able to pay for insurance, electricity bill, gas booking, DTH and fast tag card. Through the app, passengers will also be able to know about train timings, gates, lifts, escalators and platforms on reaching the metro station.

6 Thailand announces visa-free entry for Indian citizens to boost tourism

Thailand  is waiving visa requirements for  a large number of Indian tourists in a bid to strengthen   its  tourism sector . Prime Minister  Shrettha Thavisin  said that from November 10 this year   to  May 10 next year, Indian tourists will be able to enter Thailand without a visa . Taiwan has also resorted to this scheme to attract a large number of tourists. Thailand abolished visa requirements for Chinese tourists in September. India has been the fourth largest source of tourism for Thailand so far this year and 12 lakh Indians have visited the country.

7 India and United Arab Emirates signed an MoU with the aim of enhancing mutual cooperation in the field of education

India and the United Arab Emirates  have   signed an MoU with the aim of enhancing mutual cooperation in the field of education .  This agreement was signed in a meeting held in Abu Dhabi between Union Education Minister  Dharmendra Pradhan  and UAE Education Minister  Dr. Ahmed Al Falasi . It aims   to promote various forms of cooperation such as exchange of students and faculty, joint research initiatives, curriculum design and active participation in academic programmes. To monitor the successful implementation of this MoU, a Joint Working Group will be established, which will be chaired by representatives of the Ministries of Education of India and UAE. Shri Pradhan also visited the first international campus of the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi in Abu Dhabi.

8 Indian Railways will operate Bharat Gaurav train from Delhi to North-Eastern states on 16th November

Indian Railways   will operate Bharat Gaurav train from Delhi to the North-Eastern states  on  16th November . The 15-day tour   will include Guwahati, Sivasagar, Jorhat and Kaziranga in Assam, Unakoti, Agartala and Udepur in Tripura, Dimapur and Kohima in Nagaland and Shillong and Cherrapunji in Meghalaya. The fully air-conditioned train has Tier-1, 2 and 3 facilities. The Railway Ministry said that Bharat Gaurav tourist train was started under the government initiative Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat and Dekho Apna Desh to promote domestic tourism. It has advanced security features like security guards, CCTV cameras and electronic drawers in each coach.

9 Celebrating women power across the country, women’s bike campaign ‘Yashaswini’ concludes at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat on National Unity Day

The bike campaign ‘ Yashaswini ‘  organized by women bikers   of  the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)  in collaboration with  the Ministry of Women and Child Development concluded  at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat  on the occasion of  National Unity Day . The Ministry of Women and Child Development collaborated with the Central Reserve Police Force to organize a bike expedition by ‘Yashaswini’, a group of 150 women bikers from CRPF, to celebrate women empowerment across the country. The campaign was launched by three teams each consisting of 25 Royal Enfield (350 cc) motorbikes and 50 bikers. Team JK Zone started the campaign on 3 October 2023 from Srinagar and Team NE Zone and Team South Zone started the campaign on 5 October from Shillong and Kanyakumari respectively. After covering a total distance of more than 10,000 km, all three teams gathered at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat for the closing ceremony on 31 October 2023.

ISRO chief among 68 people selected for 10 Karnataka Rajyotsava awards

The second highest civilian honor  of  the state of Karnataka , the Rajyotsava Award, is given by the Government of Karnataka  on Karnataka Rajyotsava Day on 1 November  . Rajyotsav Awards recognize the extraordinary contributions of individuals in various fields. Karnataka Foundation Day (Rajyotsava Day) celebrated on 1 November marks the formation of the state in the year 1956. This resulted from the merger of the Kannada-speaking areas  of South India  . During India’s independence, South India was ruled by the Nizams of Mysore, Hyderabad, Madras Presidency and Bombay Presidency. To improve administration, areas were re-classified on the basis of language. In 1956, the boundaries of Mysuru were adjusted to include Kannada-speaking areas. On November 1, 1973,  its name was changed from ‘ Mysore ‘ to ‘ Karnataka ‘. Since then the state’s formation is celebrated on 1 November every year.

11 In Haryana, the scope of Ayushman Chirayu Yojana increased from Rs 1 lakh 80 thousand to Rs 3 lakh.

Haryana  Chief Minister  Manohar Lal  launched   two important initiatives for health care and wellness for the people of the state at an event organized in Chandigarh  on the occasion of  Haryana Day . The Chief Minister  increased the scope  of  Ayushman Chirayu Yojana from Rs 1 lakh 80 thousand  to Rs 3 lakh . Earlier this scheme was limited to families with annual income less than Rs 1 lakh 80 thousand, now in this expansion additional 38 thousand families have been included. The second major initiative launched   was the launch of cashless healthcare facility  for  government employees, pensioners and accredited journalists . It will provide cashless treatment facility for 1,340 diseases in 569 empaneled hospitals of Haryana.

12 Southern peninsular India records sixth driest October in 123 years

 In an unusual meteorological event ,  southern peninsular India  faced the sixth driest October in 123 years,  according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) . The region comprising states like Kerala, Mahe, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, Puducherry, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema received only 74.9 mm rainfall in October. This amount was more than 60 percent less than the normal level for the month. October usually sees rainfall over southern peninsular India, caused by both the south-west monsoon and the incoming north-east monsoon. However, the region remained dry for about 25 days during October this year. Unlike previous years, the south-west monsoon ended almost on time after a 134-day season.

Firing was done for the first time from 13 Light Combat Helicopter Prachanda.

The Indian Army  achieved a significant feat when it   conducted the first firing of 70 mm rocket and 20 mm gun  mounted on  Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachanda . This successful operation is a significant step forward in India’s indigenous defense capabilities. The first LCH squadron of the Indian Army deployed in Misamari  conducted firing practice at Likabali Air Force Station   in  Arunachal Pradesh . LCH Prachanda represents India’s pioneering effort in developing its first indigenous multi-role combat helicopter. This advanced aircraft  is a creation of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)  and is specially designed to meet the operational requirements of the Indian Armed Forces, especially in challenging terrains such as desert and hilly areas.

14 Uttarakhand government established Rajaji Tiger Reserve Conservation Foundation

 The Government  of Uttarakhand  has announced the establishment of the Rajaji Tiger   Reserve Conservation Foundation with the aim of promoting ecological, economic, social and cultural development in and around the Rajaji Tiger Reserve. This decision   was taken during the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami . The Foundation will focus on protecting the natural environment in and around Rajaji Tiger Reserve, conserving biodiversity and maintaining the ecological balance of the region. Its objective is to provide alternative livelihood opportunities to local communities by reducing their dependence on forest resources. The Foundation will promote eco-tourism in the area, allowing local communities to derive economic benefits from tourism activities while preserving the natural beauty of the reserve. Addressing human-wildlife conflict will be a priority, with the main objective being to ensure the safety and well-being of both wildlife and local residents.

 Former Reserve Bank of  India (RBI) governor Raghuram Rajan  and  economist Rohit Lamba have written a new book titled   “ Breaking the Mould: Reimagining India’s Economic Future ”.  Published by Penguin Business, an imprint of Penguin Random House India (PRHI), the book is scheduled to be released in December 2023.

16 Sporanaerobium hydrogeniformans: An anaerobic, hydrogen producing bacterium found in Aravalli Hot Springs, Maharashtra

Scientists under  the Bioenergy Group  at  the Agarkar Research Institute (ARI)   in  Maharashtra  identified a new genus of  anaerobic lignocellulose-degrading bacteria ,  called Sporanaerobium hydrogeniformans ,  in  the Aravali hot springs located in   Ratnagiri  district (Maharashtra)  . This bacteria   has the remarkable ability to produce hydrogen gas as a byproduct of its metabolic processes . The hydrogen produced by this bacteria can be a source of clean and renewable energy. This study   has been published in the journal Archives of Microbiology . Sporanorabium hydrogeniformans is part of the Lachnospiraceae family, which is famous for its polysaccharide degradation abilities to synthesize free or complex hydrolytic enzymes.

17 Aligarh Muslim University will launch its own satellite, IN-SPACe approved

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU)   has started work on its ambitious  space programme .  It has been approved by  the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACE) functioning under the Department of Space . The project  involves the development of the first satellite program  ‘ SS AMU SAT ‘  , named after  the founder of AMU , Sir Syed Ahmed Khan . SS AMU SAT is a nanosatellite project started in November 2021 under AMU Robo Club. The satellite is a 3U CubeSat with multiple objectives, including studying economic development in India’s poorest districts using satellite imagery and applying in-house developed image compression technology for faster multimedia transmission. The project for approval, registration, frequency allocation and launch of SS AMU SAT was submitted to IN-SPACE in January 2023.

The Fairwork India 2023  report  evaluated  12 digital platforms  , in which BigBasket  excelled in fair pay, while  Ola and Porter scored  zero   in fair work standards to improve the industry.  The Fairwork India team, led by the Center for IT and Public Policy (CITAPP)  at  the International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B), evaluated 12 digital platforms in India to assess their adherence to fair work principles for gig workers.

19 Global growth rate will decline to 2.9% in 2024: IMF

Messi   has been awarded the Ballon d’Or award for the eighth time .  Messi becomes  the first SLS player to win the Ballon d’Or award . The Ballon d’Or is football’s most prestigious award, an honor given to an individual player. It is given every year to a player of the football club and national team on the basis of his best performance. Every year since 1956, men are honored with this award for their best performance. The tradition of giving Ballon d’Or to the best female players has been started from 2018.
