Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  flagged   off  the country’s  5 new Vande Bharat trains from Rani Kamalapati Railway Station  in  Bhopal . The Prime Minister first   flagged off Ranchi-Patna, Dharwad-KSR Bengaluru  and  Goa (Madgaon)-Mumbai through virtual means. After this, Shri Modi   flagged off  two Vande Bharat trains of  Madhya Pradesh , Bhopal-Indore  and  Bhopal-Jabalpur . Both these trains left simultaneously from Rani Kamalapati Railway Station. The Prime Minister is digitally addressing 10 lakh workers of 543 Lok Sabha and 64 thousand 100 booths in Madhya Pradesh under the ‘Mera Booth, Sabse Saubhag’ campaign in Bhopal.

3 Times Asia Ranking 2023: IISc tops Indian universities

Times Higher Education (THE)  Asia  University Rankings for 2023  has been released. In which  18 Indian universities  have  made it  to the top 200  . Indian Institute of Science (IISC) is at 48th position  , while IISC is also at number-1 among Indian institutes. However, there is a drop of 6 places in the rank of IISc as compared to last year.  China  ‘s  Tsinghua University  has topped the ranking and has retained its top position for the fourth year in a row. In second place is Peking University of China, which is also in second place for the fourth year in a row. In third place is the National University of Singapore, which has retained its position for the fourth year in a row.

4 1,000-year-old Jain sculptures found in sluice near Hyderabad

 Two square pillars with sculptures and inscriptions of Jain Tirthankaras  were found lying neglected at Enikepalli village in Moinabad mandal of  Rangareddy   district  on the outskirts of  Hyderabad . E. Shivanagireddy , archaeologist and CEO of Plecht India Foundation,   said he   inspected the spot based on information provided by P. Srinath Reddy, a young archaeologist and heritage activist. He said that he found two pillars, one of granite and the other of black basalt, with four Jain Tirthankaras –  Adinath, Neminath, Parshvanatha and Vardhamana Mahavira – on the four sides. The idols were carved in the sitting meditation posture. The pillars are decorated with kirtimukhas at the top. Both the slabs have inscriptions in Telugu-Kannada script, some of which could not be read as they are embedded in the masonry walls of the drain of the village pond. The visible portion of an inscription refers to a Janina basadi (monastery) that existed close to Chilukuru, a major Jain center during the Rashtrakuta and Vemulavada Chalukya periods (9th–10th centuries CE).

5 Telangana government deposited financial assistance amount under Rythu Bandhu scheme in the accounts of farmers of the state

These include 1.5 lakh podu farmers, who cultivate four lakh acres of podu land. This will put an additional burden of about three hundred crore rupees on the state exchequer. Podu is a method of farming in which the agricultural land is prepared by burning the remains of trees. It is commonly used by tribals living in the forest areas of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

7 Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launches Urban Cleanliness Survey – Survey for My City My Identity

 The Ministry  of Housing and Urban Affairs has  launched the survey for Urban Cleanliness Survey – Mera Shehar Meri Pehchaan (8th edition).  From July 1, about three thousand workers will evaluate more than four thousand five hundred cities within a month  . Cities   will be evaluated on the basis of 46 indicators . The objective of this survey is to promote sustainable sanitation and waste management through competition and citizen participation. This year the focus is on the Waste to Wealth initiative and scientific waste management. This time, new indicators like treatment of waste and segregation of different types of waste at source and cleanliness of public areas have been included in the survey.

8 Ministry of Power sets up ‘Catalyst’ Center of Excellence to promote use of energy efficient technologies in Indian industry

 The Ministry  of Power , Government of India,   has established a dedicated Center of Excellence to promote the use of clean technologies in industry and improve India’s contribution to the global energy transition. It is  called UTPREAK  i.e.  Catalyst The name has been given which is an abbreviation for Center for Advanced Technical Demonstration. Established with the objective of promoting energy efficient technologies, the Center of Excellence seeks to act as a catalyst for improving the energy efficiency of Indian industry. However, this center has been set up by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power under the name of Advanced Industrial Technology Demonstration Center (AITDC) at Badarpur, New Delhi campus of National Power Training Institute (NPTI) of Ministry of Power. Union Minister of State for Power Shri Krishan Pal at NPTI Badarpur, New Delhi on June 26, Inaugurated this center on 2023. The ‘Catalyst’ will also act as a strategic capacity-building institute. Also, it will provide one stop solution for energy professionals across the country for education and training in energy efficiency. The comprehensive training is expected to be imparted to more than 10,000 energy professionals from various industries and other potential sectors during the next five years.

9 Shri Sarbananda Sonowal launched the new CSR guidelines ‘Sagar Samajik Sahyog’

 The Union Minister  for Shipping, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH  Shri Sarbananda Sonowal launched the new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)  guidelines  of  the Ministry of Shipping, Shipping and Waterways – ‘ Sagar Samajik Sahyog ‘. as per the new guidelines Ports can now directly undertake CSR activities, The new CSR guidelines issued will better impact projects and programs relating to activities specified in section 70 of the Major Port Authorities Act, 2021. For the purpose of planning and implementing CSR projects, a Corporate Social Responsibility Committee will be constituted in every major port. The committee will be headed by the Deputy Director of the port concerned and will have 2 other members. Each Major Port shall prepare a Corporate Social Responsibility Plan for each financial year and link its CSR to the business plan with social and environmental concerns related to the port’s business.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways  Shri Nitin Gadkari  said that  the total length of National Highways in the country has increased by about 59 percent in the last nine years  . Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Shri Gadkari said, “ The total length of National Highways in 2013-14 was 91,287 kms to increase to 1,45,240 kms in 2022-23, an increase of over 59 per cent over the period is ”. He also said that  the increase in the four-lane national-highway  has almost doubled in the last nine years. This length of four-lane national-highway was 18,371 km in 2013-14, which has increased to 44,654 km in the last nine years.

11 Directorate General of Rehabilitation signs MoU with private sector to generate employment for ex-servicemen

12 Chandrayaan-3 will retain the names of Chandrayaan-2’s lander and rover

Launch is scheduled for mid-July 2023 and the mission will carry out experiments and collect data through various payloads on the lander, rover and propulsion modules.

15 World Drug Report 2023 released

A recently released  United Nations  report   has highlighted  the growing challenges posed by drug use around the world . The report, titled World Drug Report 2023,  provides worrying statistics and stresses the urgent need to prioritize access to public health, prevention and treatment services. According to a UN report,  the number of people who inject drugs in 2021  is estimated to be an astonishing 13.2 million, which shows an increase of 18% from the previous estimate. This sharp increase highlights the persistent nature of drug addiction and the urgent need for effective intervention and support systems. Globally,  drug use by more than 296 million people in 2021 have been reported, which shows an alarming increase of 23% in the last decade. These numbers reflect the scale of the challenge and the need for comprehensive strategies to address drug use and its associated harms.

18 Center approves Dr Kalaignar Pain Memorial at Marina in Chennai
